I can relate to this man's ideas. If Christianity could evolve in this direction, towards tolerance, understanding, knowledge and enlightenment-- it could win back the respect that the fundamentalists have lost.

People will only get out of what he is saying what they are ready to understand. That is what he is saying on this video. You see this world is a learning world & you will only understand what you are ready to understand. Now is another part that most are not going to understand or agree with but you will go through as many lifes on this earth as it takes for you to learn & grow to were you will understand.

At their pure mystical levels, the two religions are exactly the same. Differences are mostly doctrinal or dogmatic at a religious level and contextual at a socio-cultural level. When one rises above and beyond the religious and socio-cultural settings, all religions are truly one and the same. "Let those having eyes, see, and those having ears, hear."

You basically listened to the very first few sentences and decided based on those few words that you're offended. Then you simply stopped listening. Get past the first few words and you'll see you have nothing to be offended with.

It's less than 2 minutes long: listen to the whole thing. Once you do, you'll realize that this video is an endorsement of the way Hindus do things and not whatever you misunderstood it to be. It's also worth pointing out that Spong doesn't believe in Hell either. If you aren't willing to exert the effort it takes to listen to someone talk for less than 2 minutes, how could you think that a "critique" of what they have to say is worth anything?

He speaks of how judgmental Christians tend to be compared to Hindus at 0:35.

This all sounds good on the surface but it ignores the consequences of being tolerant of intolerant people. OK, I won't wish them to the cornfield but I won't be silent while they try to destroy the lives of others.

This is the superiority of Tamizh culture and ethos to be inclusive and not exclusive. The Hindus are not of this kind but oppressive and abusive even discriminatory ! Bishop has gotten it all wrong.
