In early 2017, bison returned to Banff National Park. Coming from Elk Island National Park, they have a lot to learn before becoming free-roaming bison in Banff. Watch the herd as they cross a river for the first time in their lives, encounter their first steep hills and take their first bites of wild Banff plants.
Follow the landmark journey of returning North America’s largest land mammal to Canada’s first national park at the links below:

Yes. Go Canada. It's been close to 40 years since I've been to that part of the world, but it's been etched in my mind. These creatures will only add to an already stunning environment.

Clearly these big herbivores would keep grassland from turning into thicket and woodland.

I agree. A very exciting and important re-introduction. Liked the video as well, except the weird colour balance shift at 2 min. mark.

Saw one of these critters on Divide pass (Clearwater Side) last September long weekend. It looked much more comfortable in the snowstorm than we were.

The Eastern slopes and foothills may also get bison..... Containing them is only one of the issues.....

So how much will Canada charge for a license to hunt these gorgeous creatures?
@senkamarkovic8758
@senkamarkovic8758 2 года назад
They shouldn't hunt em anymore. They were near extinction only 130 years. I mean from 60 milion animals They were only 485 bison left. They roamed whole North American continent.
