I totally get it. I actually enjoy taking the trash to the back dumpster at the restaurant I work at because it's quiet in the back and away from all the noise.

I would hide in the walk in when I worked at a convenience store. Sometimes you just Can't.

I remember I used to wait tables at a giant restaurant and on super hard nights take 2 mins in the freezer and half the time there’d be a Mexican from the kitchen in their drinking a beer sitting on the floor 💀

Taking a break in the walk-in is great.

I was unfortunately needing to really pee one day so I go to the front bathrooms and they are closed. I stare at the associate like: “PLEASE LET ME IN.” They did not hesitate to move. Worked in a place with an open kitchen with the grill right at the top point nearest the dining room. Grill cooks would call out "watch your char" when the scenery got extra nice. Even the lady who worked grill a couple nights a week got into it.

Your comment is relatable for so many reasons. I am far too fragile emotionally for the service industry, but I was basically stuck in it for a very long time, so while a lot of these scenarios are painfully triggering, I do still derive a type of catharsis from seeing them. I think it’s the solidarity of the shared experience maybe.

Working in food service is the reason I started smoking and I've never dropped the habit. Got offered a cigarette out back by a coworker after a real stressful night, and never stopped since. I don't think they even know that was my first time smoking either, they didn't comment on it or anything. (Well, it wasn't my first time, but it was the time that started the habit.)

I would hope it doesn’t take a year to get acclimated unless you’re hopping around.. it’s difficult but not that hard.

After Tim and Pam tried to have their adult son eat for free as a child Terry stopped being so friendly.

I was never under the impression he was friends with them, just a master at deescalating and meeting people at their level and treating them with the kind of respect they want.

The weed isn’t necessary. Safety meeting is nobody moves nobody gets hurt. Edit: unless it’s different in the food service industry. I worked retail and that’s what we called a safety meeting
