Compression bandage. In Australia where all of our venomous snakes are elapids, a compression bandage is the correct first aid.

For Aussie snake bites you never use a tourniquet. Snake bite first and here is to remain calm, as minimal to no movement, apply a compression bandage ( stretchy bandage) to cover the Entire Limb, mark bite site on outside of bandage. Call 000, due to how the venom acts it's critical to not move at all & remain calm as the venom moves through the lymph nodes. So doing the above will gain you more valuable time 🙂 You can also buy Snake bite first aid kits here, and the bandages have squares on them to make sure the correct amount of compression stretch is used. If you Google Snake Bite Bandages you should get an idea of what I mean. Sometimes the first Aid kits will be called Premium Snake Bite 1st And kits & have the marked compression bandages, any compression bandage will work though 🙂

yes very much so. Some say even more venomous than an adult because baby's can't control their venom output

@@rutwikpatel5656 Yes I have heard this about juvenile Browns - came here looking for an answer as to how much of a myth or otherwise that is in fact - thanks. On the good side, babies have much shorter fangs and can disappear very fast.

@@bharath2508 I think hospital might be free (public health system etc) Stay calm, call 000 ambulance, apply a wide long bandage (or torn sheet etc) all the way to the bottom of the leg or arm and then all the way back as high as you can. Do it quickly (within 10 minutes etc) but stay calm and as still as you can. Dont wash the wound (so they can test what bit you). You have many hours to spare if you do this and not much chance of dying. There is a good chance 80% that there was no venom in the bite and nothing will happen - but you must call an ambulance, stay calm and use a compression bandage in a timely fashion just to be sure.
