In this talk, Andreas recounts the origins of Bitcoin, the meaning of the message embedded forever in its genesis block, and how we figured out who the banks truly serve when there was no other choice. He also speaks about what happens when money stops working, why censorship resistance was one of Bitcoin's most valuable characteristics from the start, and what possibilities lay in store with a global, voluntary financial system.

Every speech by this man get's better and better. Nobody explains the importance of Bitcoin like Andreas. His talk will really help you rethink the current economic system and how corrupt it really is. I always feel that I've heard it enough, then I'm proven wrong immediately after listening.

It's also a clever way of shaking down and controlling the masses. You see, as the value of the money decreases, the cost of goods and services increases. At the same time people loose jobs, take pay cuts and their savings are destroyed. As a result people are desperate again for any work, any pay, and any compromise of their hard won progress. While the people at the top are raking in the profits. Because the cost of everything has gone up lol. What a scam..😈

The Gospel According to Andreas! While political war criminals lord over and profit from nationalistic divisiveness (who drops the bombs that create ‘migrants’ in the first place?) the REAL issues of importance get ignored. Andreas is addressing these issues head on. We all benefit from such an articulate spokesman. As for me; having spent 25yrs on Wall St. you all have NO idea how the sausage is made. Pay attention to this man. He’s right; which makes him dangerous. Many thanks Andreas.

Andreas cares about what I care about so it is VERY interesting to listen to him speak. He's plugged into the same life electrical wall outlet as I am so almost every word that comes out of his mouth is interesting to me. I love your lectures. You describe #Bitcoin and it's potential so well. When I found #Bitcoin over 9 years ago I was stunned. I was a geek too. With an insatiable hunger for the Internet and the bleeding edge. Like you I was an idealist too. With an unrelenting dream of a just world where everyone had enough. Andreas Thank you for your work and everything you do for this cause. I never wanted to raise a child because I use to think the only way things would ever change was through bloodshed and a revolt against these overlords that hurt humanity. However not only am I now having a kid but I’m seeing the possibility of a better world thanks to bitcoin. My child will never have a bank account, will never know of those silly pieces of paper that have blood and drugs on them, that fund terrorists and all sorts of evil and corruption. Your talks have helped me see a better way, and give me real hope that my kid might just grow up in a world that’s better then the one I did. Keep up the great work!

The message in the genesis block was more pragmatic than philosophical. The software needed to demonstrate that a group of miners didn't collude to manufacture blocks prior to the public launch. In order to demonstrate the public launch was the first time the network was up and running, we had to tie it to a known point in time in the physical world in a verifiable way. We decided to use newspaper headlines which were easily accessible to all as the means to do this. IIRC, The Times of London was chosen because of proximity to UTC.

In my opinion, bitcoin will dominate. There will be other currencies, but they will not be used as money. As Andreas said in a video, other currencies will just be tool currencies / loyalty currencies / play currencies. Right now in our life we already have loyalty points, reards points, tokens to play games etc.

Andreas just scratched the top layer of the meaning in the genesis block message. To understand the whole meaning you need to go deep in Austrian economic theory. Bitcoin is not created to "kill the banks", that's just the side effect. ;) But the fact it's so hard to see the whole message is one of the Bitcoin's strengths. Sneaky revolution...! :D

18% is the lowest percentage in the world for the unbanked? That´s not true. Norway, Finland, Denmark 0% unbanked, Sweden, New Zealand, Netherlands, Canada, Uk, Australia, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Estonia, Spain all have more than 96% of banked population. From the western countries the US is probably one with the biggest number of unbanked people, it´s indeed impressive. Apart from that major gap, always a pleasure hearing you Andreas!

Languages consolidate over time due to network effect. They do not proliferate as you suggest. That analogy implies that 95% of the currency transactions would occur in 3-4 currencies. That seems more likely to me. Sure you can have 1000's but only a few will matter.

Andreas, I feel we have a nearly identical world view. Maximum individual freedom, no countries, no borders, and peace through voluntary association and collaboration. This time technology is trying to change something bigger in the sense that the financial system is intertwined with the governance model , The division of "church and state" was an essential step toward improving civil rights and quality of life. Crypto, in turn, allows for the division of economics and state! Maybe future societies will look to the division of economics and state as an essential element of a free and modern world (all made possible by cryptocurrency).

Its easier to communicate if everyone are speaking same language. Same with money. Its way easier to do commerce when each party is using same currency. Thats why there is going to be one main currecy used for global commerce.

I'm just thinking what will happen when we figure out how to create devices which don't rely on oil. I'm assuming at that point Bitcoin is reaching abut a 1/4 of its ascendancy as more and more people die (sorry folks) involved in trad banking.
