The funniest thing about this is the fact that UP took the affected loco out of storage, repainted it and then put it back into storage where it could be subjected to the same thing in the future. It seems a bit pointless if you ask me, especially if she's not going to be back in service any time soon.
@@CedarLakeRailfannerwith the nose units on CSX and NS I won’t be surprised if someone dose this again heck I know someone people who are behind stuff like 1755 getting ATSF numbers and 552 getting it’s Sanata Fe hood back so apparently UP 9696 is set for something soon……. (For legal purposes this is a joke)
@@seymoarsalvage Expensive and wasteful way to make a point. They could have just left it in the patch over undercoat and then put it back into storage.
First of all, UP isn’t known for doing things that make sense. Second, if a quality model railroad manufacturer makes a Rivet Counter/Genesis version of rail beast in HO scale. I’m buying that shit.
Just from watching this gave me a thought, what if Union Pacific brang back the engine into service, but never repainted it back to the original UP paint scheme, but only painted the number back?
judging on the words from Operation Lifesaver, I'm going to guess that UP tried to discourage people from doing this I will make a guess that there's a mainline alongside of that specific storage line, but I'm not familiar with the UP network and cannot make comments on that
I’ve seen the original video all about the Rail Beast and I gotta say it has to be Graffiti at its finest. I always thought the Rail Beast looked cool and it’s a shame Union Pacific removed it.
Lund, Utah is the middle of nowhere. Stark desert town, probably 10-15 people live there and half of them are in a doomsday prepper cult. It is literally the last place anyone would take up a security job to watch some locomotives. I know, because I've been there twice (there was orange paint overspray on ballast where Railbeast was born actually). 😅 Most of the locomotives were removed from Lund and brought to Salt Lake City (and I wouldn't be surprised if some went to Las Vegas too) where there are security guards and cameras to watch them. As far as I understand, Lund is empty track now.
The Most Upsetting thing is that after the locomotive was Repainted it didn’t return to service and it sucks to say UP Wasted Paint Just For It to rot in a deadline
From what I gathered, Rail yards or storage lines are not in any way a No Fly Zone to drones. Now I could be wrong on that but I’ve watched several videos of drone flyers over rail yards
Now i wonder if all of the safety markings, road number and adding a up shield logo to the unit (both sides somewhere) then maybe corporate would of kept it
I feel like if the vandals did not cover numbers, windows, or reporting marks, union pacific wouldn't have bothered and it would still be the rail beast today. I guess they didn't understand how important those numbers really are, and well... windows are see through for a reason.
I think they saw it simply as people going on railroad property for internet clout, if that statement was anything to go by. Railroads take trespassing very seriously, much more so than vandalism itself. Leaving the "unofficial livery" might be seen as encouraging people to do it again.
And the autoracks and hopper cars with the entire side done up in a mural people see every single day isn't enough to convey that? Most people aren't that stupid I'd think and those people assumed the risk. Especially considering it was sat in a deadline, sent off, repainted, then thrown right back into the deadline. A waste of resources.
@@carolinarailfanning How many hoppers or autoracks do you see making the news, showing kids and imbeciles that "if you do a cool vandalism, you can get your 15 minutes of fame"?
@@SignalMan9292 Makes perfect sense. Paint it back to normal. It blends back into the rest of the fleet. Like it never happened. There was no point in graffitiing the train. So don't do again. You darn kids.
You used my picture of NS 1650! I have the proof and the literal picture, but dude you used my picture! I’m so happy! But could I get credit? I put a water mark on it now, if you don’t believe me that I took that I could dm you
