Cool sound and setup. I really like your mix. I always find it important to get a good mix.

quite impressive! i struggled with sequencing songs in vcv but you seem to have it figured out haha. also nice patch in general

there are a few ways to do it! this is just one. and its basically the entire top row. the step sequencers are sending gates to the eg/vca's you can set the envelope to have stuff fade in and out. i have the sequencers clocked at /32 so very slow! its a bit clunky tbh drums never seem to come in when I expect, I've seen people do similar things with custom envelopes (which are more accurate) and I'm sure there are other ways using counting modules, logic, long clocks, sequential switches and other clever stuff but this seems to be the simplest way to do it without using an external DAW

The whole song is sequenced on VCV Rack modules? This is amazing.

yes! the top row is the "main sequencer" if you like, bringing the parts in and out and sending gates to all the EG/vca's. its clocked at /32 so very slow!

@@swarm69 the top row sequencers are like an Ableton clip launcher, right? How did you sequence the "clips" themselves, with "sub-sequencers", or with square LFOs or something like that? I just discovered modular and VCV Rack, i'm sorry for the very noobish questions. Truely amazing stuff right there anyway!

@@letmefeelthevibes ok! get ready for words! so if you look on the 3rd row on the left just under the clocks you can see a sort of circular modual called entropia. this is my main melody sequencer! this is providing the note CV for the chords, the gate seq next to it is controlling the gate pattern for the chords. the rest of that row is the actual pad/chord itself! i have one more entropia on the bottom row that's sequencing the arp. I'm also doing some funny business with the note pad and seesaw moduals to get it to flip between the root, major 7, +1 octave etc, the drums are sequenced from the main clocks for the kick and hat since they are just 4/4 thecno shit. and then I have a perc loop running in a sampler that also just requires a clock input. when I'm building the track I just send everything back to the mixer. and when I'm kinda done and happy I add the top row and put in vca's ( it can be any the vanilla ones work fine but I like these ones because they have a built in envelope) the vcas go between your sound/voice and the mixer and then the sequencer sends a gate to open the vca. green light on the sequencer gate open, light off gate closed. then if you want a sound to fade in you can just adjust the envelope to taste! this is kind of basic and there are better ways of doing it! just for reference a different version of the same idea using vanilla vcv rack vcas : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nfIV7hZqha0.html sequencing with an external daw:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ORnnbP5Ufeg.html and if your new I really should recommend you these red means recording modular basics in vcv : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BTcP3DofZLY.html strongly recommend just following along and getting a solid grounding in the basic concepts of modular lots of fun tricks and stuff you probably wouldn't think about! then when you are happy with that move on to this for some interesting modules and inspiration! www.youtube.com/@OmriCohen-Music most importantly just play and have fun with it! there are lots of happy little accidents in modular! good luck and I hope this was helpful!
