This was very informative. Thank you for all of your hard work putting this together the natural groove of this hybrid jam was very compelling and I really enjoyed the way you seamlessly moved between the Bitwig software environment and hardware modular synth.

Thanks Gary, the end jam, was a "one-run" quick improvisation jam. I thought about redoing the ending-jam since my main camera shut down after a few seconds and I had to restart it... while jamming...lol... but then again I wanted to post the video tonight so I had to let it be what it is. Bitwig is made exactly how i think about the daw! No need to hold anyone's hand and say, "see, it's not so bad. It kind of looks like a mixer. Let me show you how this mouse works" 😋 I feel like so many of the other DAWs are stuck back there. Ableton live and fl studio really broke out of that and bitwig is running with it🙌

Bitwig basically got rid of the confusion and politics of what Ableton was getting into and decided to make a product that was more effective.

A bit confused how you use a stereo trs cable, but set up your output as mono. Wouldn't that only send half the signal?

That was straight forward thanks. Can you show how to use cv from the grid to control the pitch of the hardware synth? I tried using the HW device but I can’t seem to figure out how to get it to tune the hardware oscillator

Hi yeah I am planning to do a cv to pitch tutorial video too in a near future. You connect the Bitwig CV out to the CV 1V/Oct Pitch in on the 0-coast. 🌞

@@MattiasHolmgren i understand that much. Thank you. I just can’t get the bitwig device to calibrate the tuning of the oscillator correctly. It’s always way off. Nowhere near an accurate v/octave outcome

You don't need the transport play and AND device, just set the gates module to "mute when stopped"

How did you get the 0 coast in time given latency going and coming?

I don’t experience any particular latency, I run pretty low audio latency setting on the audio interface too, 128samples. ☀️🥁

So do you feel like this opens up bitwig as a controller for a collection of hardware synthesizers and devices for real-time production of analog audio or do you feel that the audio output will be re-recorded back into bitwig for further processing and mastering?. I hope that makes sense.

Hi, personally I don't do this kind of modular fiddling too much. When I want to add analog sounds to my music I record one item at a time (focused), so I might hook up the 0-coast, Minilogue XD, Uno Synth, Zoia, Digitakt, guitar, piano or whatever and I focus on that instrument for a session. I'm not the typical guy connecting 41 devices in a midi chain and send midi on 41 channels to all the gear. That said, I think it's fun to explore sending audio CV to an external synth in a isolated experimentation session. So yes, I guess in my case it's recording the audio back into Bitwig for further processing. But most of the time I'm very quick and direct in my work so I continue to other stuff and wrap up my song. You can experiment forever. ;) Thanks for writing!

LBRY doesnt give me any viewtime on RU-vid either, so it doesnt help my channel to grow. Its a dilemma jumping on shaky new platforms.

You, like most on YT, need to explain the 'why, when, and what' when giving demos. Quickly explaining only the 'how' is not enough information for many aspects of the demo. For example, if someone told you a building collapsed because it was bombed (the HOW) today, that does not give you much more information on the incident. By who, by what, or why are questions I'm sure you would ask -just as I'm asking them now regarding some points in your video. Teaching is a skill, having a camera, and a computer, does not automatically give you teaching skills. Read up on pedagogy, that may help. And spend a bit more time with topics that need time, what's the rush? I'm sure the topics you demo were never innate information for you -unless you were probed by aliens? Longer videos are good for demos; furthermore, If someone only has the attention span of a jellyfish, they probably shouldn't be trying to write music... even if the synths do much of the work for us. Anyway, thanks for the overview, I now need to go elsewhere for more detailed information.
