Bivouac Junction is a quiet camp area located just far enough off the main highway leading to Townsville.
It is another that makes our "Quirky List" The entertainment lodge is jamb packed with memorabilia from long ago.
The location is at the junction of two rivers. The Fanning and the Burdekin. The Burdekin runs from here into Dalrymple Lake and beyond that into the sea at Groper Creek, near Ayr.
For the most part Bivouac Junction is a shady camp amongst the trees. Unless, you need sun for your solar. In that case you are on level one or two. A well grassed area just back from the river front.
Occasionally, all facilities are under water as a result of river flooding. But, it needs a significant amount of water to cause that. Check photos in the lodge and office. Its a great place to relax and have a fish.
