"A French island within an Anglican country" - errrr... It's the *whole province* of Quebec that is French, and Montreal is the most anglicized spot in the province. Andrew or his researchers really need to check their fact twice. (Someone already mentioned how Montreal is NOT the capital of Quebec - merely its biggest city)
I live next to Montreal (well, south to it), in Boucherville... Yes, smoked meat is fucking good (we can buy that in COSTCO... Poutine from COSTCO is very good, and you get a lot for 5$ (by the way, the gravy ised in normal poutine isn't just any gravy. It's a special gravy for poutine). 6:54 Never heard of it.
It's fun if its your first time, but generally yeah, it's pretty boring. Been living here for 23 years and you can honestly see everything there is to offer in Montreal in a year of living here, especially if you live in the city and befriend the locals.
Amazing to think that a 3 seconds google search, to verify their facts, would have avoided this mistake. It makes me wonder how well they research the rest of their stuff.
no place else on Earth can come close to Montreal Smoked Meat no matter where they set up their shops but one mistake Celine and Hubby did was to have this incredible Meat produced for sale at IGA in plastic packages where the quality CAN'T be any match to house production, for one thing it's all lean and Smoked Meat is NEVER to be enjoyed without a touch of fat. the two most Iconic aromas for me are a "new" car and "Montreal Smoked Meat" and Frank will ship it just about anywhere for you!!
Terrible fact-checking but Montreal IS one of the greatest places in the world. I wish someone had given me a job there so I wouldn't have had to leave... >___< J'
1:12 looks like Decarie Hot Dog! Used to go there often.. always jam-packed! *edit* It's not. BUT it's still a nice place to catch a dog/poutine before heading to the movies.. Andrew should change his motto to: "If it's not rock, I'll eat it" haha
9:53 What she says about the cheese curd is the exact opposite to the key of a good poutine. Cheese curds need to be room temperature so they start melting as soon as they are hit by the hot gravy.
It sucks cuz in Montreal we need a beer silence to be allowed to drink alcohol. It`s $188 and it takes at least 3 weeks to receive by mail or 2 weeks if you go to get it at the Beer Ministry.
2:22 Montreal isn't the Provincial Capital!!! Quebec City(Ville De Quebec)is!!!Montreal is the largest City of the Province of Quebec but not the Capital!!!
English in French is Anglais its the people who talk English that are referred as Anglophones. Same goes for those who speck French and call francophone
Yup, they were probably confusing largest or 'cultural capital' with provincial capital. The other explanation is that their tour book was printed 1844 to 1849 ;)
People like him, and others getting our capital cities wrong should care. Especially being a TV show host. I mean I know you Americans are vastly ignorant and under educated. But at least act like you have some education. More so when you go on TV.
mmk, may need to travel to more places other then montreal. Say..up north...you will get some really insane meals there. Raw-Fermented Whale. Or perhaps one of the reserves you will get some good grub there. Just sayin.
I’m quite surprised that cultures/people allow/s filming food preparation of foods that are dear and near to who they are as people and culture by a program that is called “bizarre food/s”. It’s offensive. And then the host eat the food!?
