BIZARRE STRATEGY CREATES BIZARRE VICTORY! Medieval 2 Total War Siege Battle 

I love the way Apollo pronounces Landsknecht xD while the Original word means „Servant of the Land“ the way he pronounces it, it means „Land Snail“. 🤣

Heyo. Here is the Denmark player. Thank you for covering my replay :D Now, for serious input, I find it funny that you are commenting on why I put the siege towers like that, or even why I didn't use them to scale the walls, but we'll go by points. First, to start: I was attacking with a new guy, which made sieging a difficult task. The teams weren't "balanced" in a certain way, since even though Revelsended makes too many mistakes and often screws up, he's still a player with many years of experience that can blow any newbie away. And of course my matchup in this match is BloodyHollow (Venice), pro-player vs pro-player, which makes this siege a very difficult one for attackers. Yes, that’s my army, and there’s a reason why I brought so many Obudshaers, Viking Raiders and Huscarles (4 of each): because it’s OP, they’re the best units you can bring as Denmark and the 2nd best army you can bring, and especially attacking; if the defenders don’t play precise, they have 0% chances to win against this army. There are 12 infantry units in total, of 4, and each one is made up of waves, first the weakest ones until I get to the strongest ones (the Obudshaers), that’s why I sent the Raiders first, then the Huscarles, and finally the Obudshaers. Viking raiders aren't bad, is the inverse, even though you said "we're not in an early siege", like, ppl underestimate them at first sight seeing that they're light infantry, but they're tremendously brutal when fighting a long battle, they can be so good as like Huscarles, on top of that having 12 extra men, they wipe the floor against even armored units, like chivalrics, feudals, and even Gothic Knights and Zweihanders, believe it or not. BloodyHollow had a very good army, and the Armored Sergeants aren't a bad unit IN THE EXPANSIONS, but they can't stand a chance against my Viking Raiders since they have armor piercing, much less the Huscarls. The HRE army was too good, too, and it's a mistake to bring feudals despite what you said, because we're not in vanilla, these are the expansions, and here the units are very different. The Forlorns above all, are one of the best units in the Britannia and Teutonic DLCs, and they wipe the floor against any infantry except the Obudshaer if you know how to use them. On the point about siege towers and why we didn't attack right away: because it's suicide. Venice had a mortar, so climbing the walls with towers is a BLUNDER in every sense of the rule, and doing the same with ladders is also a blunder; you do it, ok, and the defenders just have to spam missiles at your units that are coming to the walls, only to end up with 20 or 12 men coming to fight. That's why I, in particular, took too long to assault the castle: because it wasn't the time, I had to make sure that the BH missiles were depleted or destroyed enough to be able to go in and fight; in the end it wasn't possible and I had to go anyway. BloodyHollow was playing too well, you can't see it in the video because you didn't feature it, but he was harassing my cannon all the time, and because of that I had to retreat further and further, without destroyed walls it's a total lose for the attackers. The Mounted xbows harassing me at 8:20 of HRE had a reason to be: he wanted to kill my cannon crew, so that he would only have one wall to assault (my plan was to assault the last wall and then shoot Venice from the other wall with my crossbows). In the end BH got what he wanted and killed my cannon, while I still had a lot of ammo, from that moment I thought we could lose the game. Russia was losing, while I was winning my assault, despite what you perceive, because I was defeating BloodyHollow, but since Russia left the battlefield, the battle was already very much in favor of the defenders, you are totally right, we shouldn't have won that, but, as you also saw and said in the video, Rev (HRE) made the biggest blunder in the entire game that gave us the victory: sending all his infantry against my strongest troops (the last wave I had left), and of course, my Obudshaer slaughtered the entire last offensive of the last troops Revelsended had left. And btw, I didn't forgot those Obudshaer, who were very far away from the walls, there's also a reason why I kept them very far away: because they are my strongest troops, and the defenders know it, especially Revelsended, so if I brought them closer, they would do everything possible to kill them, whether with missiles, mortar, etc. Anyway, very good battle, I got 1k as I usually do lately. Denmark is my main and my favorite faction and everyone who plays with me knows it. I know you don't make Medieval 2 videos lately, but that's because nobody sends you replays about the game. the HRE guy had 2 very good paths to victory: send most infantry to the square or send most infantry to the breach. He chose neither, sending one unit to the breach, some units out in the open and keeping some units somewhere on Mars.

I like the little ram fort Denmark made for his cannons, very sweet.

Hey Apollo I recommend trying out the free cam mod for medieval 2. It gets rid of that stiff medieval 2 camera and allows you to get some really cool shots

I think the defender would absolutely wrecked these attackers if it wasn’t for almost every Denmark unit having armor piercing the viking factions are just so good against the European powers that focus on heavy infantry

wow.....a unusual game to be sure....a real game of errors[but to be honest we all make em at the start -its how you learn and improve your game] but as apollo says here HRE should have retreated to the square for infinite moral...and a handy tip to add, the square usually has a few towers overlooking it[at the rear of the square]..if you place a few weak leftover troops nearby[right next to them] you can usually activate them[you can tell when a flag flies above them to show they are active] for some additional firepower to make the last square extra hard to take :P
