Whose performance is Better? #Habanera #Carmen #Bizet #L'amourEstUnOiseauRebelle #ElinaGaranca #AnnaCaterinaAntonacci #WhosePerformanceIsBetter? t.me/OperaAndMusicMik/6 Maria Callas Una voce poco fa in color
For me Elina Garanca is the best Mezzo I ever heard! She clearly surpasses Maria Callas in this role! It's not that difficult because Bizet wrote Carmen as a Mezzo. Yes, many sopranos sang Carmen - but every time they do something is missing in their singing! Clear winner: Elina Garanca!
That´s lie in fact Garanca sunds more like a Dramatic soprano, real darker mezzo such Borodina, Podles in her prime was closer a mezzo, Baltsa so Garanca has a beautiful voice but we speak so much saying is the best. And about Carmen in fact wasn´t write for a mezzo, Cause mezzo voice wasn´t real category in that time, carmen was composed for Célestine Galli-Marié who was closer to sopranos roles than those we considere mezzo roles.
Elina Garanca is better, not only for the voice but also for the interpretation; for me, she's the best Carmen, nobody else will be like her in this role. Caterina Antonacci is beautiful and very talented, but she's not very natural on the stage.
Elina is much better, better at all! She sang and played from the heart, I felt this flirtation, this fire of love looking at her without even understanding the language of speech, but it was damn hot! I love how she performs her roles in the opera, putting all her emotions into it... How hot she is in this song! ouch! Black hair color suits her very well.
As a French listener I can only say that Antonacci’s French is absolutely perfect… Her vowels are incredible! Now of course, Garança may be better vocally or dramatically… Personally, I prefer Antonacci… 🤷🏻♂️
Etant français, nul besoin de lire les sous-titres lol. Personnellement, bien que la présente interprétation soit irréprochable, je préfère le film tourné en décors naturels de 1984, avec Julia Migénes et Placido Domingo. Simplement sublime.
Elina, Elina, Elina. !! There is more subtlety, more color, in her voice. Her one on one focus gives the feeling of intimacy and inward sensuality as oppose to the outward theatrical presentation of the other artist.
I had not realised what a brilliant actress Elina was until now. She has such a wonderful voice and beauty it is easy to overlook how brilliantly she performs.
Anna Caterina Antonacci is a soprano and it really shows, her voice lacks the depth Garanca has, it sounds playful, yet not seductive. Carmen is a femme fatale, she's wicked, Garanca manages a better deliver of the character without making crazy faces. Her expressions are seductive, while Antonacci seems out of place. Because she's a soprano, she opens her mouth a lot, like...A LOT (like...bro I can see her molars) to deliver notes that are ment to be potent and rich, classic for a mezzo, which makes her expressions look weird and deranged from time to time. Garanca just has a better understanding of what Carmen is and the ability to perform her.
I do not agree, it seems to me that Elina is darker, she lacks charm and sensuality and her interpretation is very bland , Elina's voice is better in my opinion for Mozart where her deep voice is optimal.Antonacci has souft, sexy femenine, her permormace is better is very sexy, her dance in "Les tringles des sistres tintaient has more cadence and sexuality
I love both Anna Caterina and Elina. But here I prefer Anna Caterina. Elina is perfect, too much perfect... Anna Caterina is not only a wonderful singer, she is live, seductive, dramatic...
A great contest ! Beware of the staging, you might unconsciously prefer the staging of one over the other. Elina Garanca's interpretation is the best of the two, more natural; and I prefer her voice, the timbre of her voice. Bravo depuis Montréal.
It was great to listen both singers but my favorite is Don Jose and Roberto Alayna is perfect. (These productions are much better than some new "Carmen's.)❤❤❤
I love them BOTH!!! Anna definitely fits the description from the original book in 1845. Which she is described as "having eyes like a wild animal." That and other descriptions in the book are exactly what Anna looks like. I would say she definitely looks "gypsy" more than Elina. But Elina is the one that got me into opera. She's my all-time favorite! But I love them both.
I see a lot of commentators saying Elina had depth of voice and a good presence, while Anna was a bit more raw. I think Anna was working for an audience in the building, not camera. Elina’s expressions and her haunting good looks takes me further but both are incredible. A nice video. Thanks.
Elina Garanca is the best. Excelent vocally. And very good actress. Anna Caterina Antonacci is soprano, don't mezzo. The role of Carmen is not for her voice. Maria Callas and Angela Gheorghiu (sopranos) sang the Habanera better. But the role of Carmen is for mezzo!!!
The best.
Anna Caterina Antonacci is the best because her voice sounds richer, like a Stradivarius Violin. Her facial expressions and the interpration of the song is better. The lighting and the dress lets her stand out, it is very easy to know who is singing. The dress is red and describes the song wonderfully.
Cela me semble un peu inutile de dire lequel est le meilleur. Honnêtement j’ai ma préférence mais il vaut mieux profiter des deux. Les deux sont magnifiques !
First time I have watched opera and the girl Elina, is so natural, it's scary. If its about intimidation, control and independence, the girl has it in spade fulls.
Вспомнил меткое выражение лучшего друга физкультурников о каких-то объектах конечно же мужского пола "Оба хуже" . А я так скажу об этих прекрасных объектах женского пола : "ОБЕ ЛУЧШЕ" .
Garanca…! She is vocally amazing but she also has that bewitching look and beauty Carmen must have. She is awesome…! Antonacci is rather…masculine to my taste.
Antonacci is has a voice more sexy her sennsual, femenine, has more cadence in "Les tringles des sistres tintaient and more sennsuality, charm, is more femenine, the Elina performance is bland and Cold, Elina needs more sensuality, charm, and her voice is very darker is better for Mozart
Neither is ideal vocally or dramatically. Antonacci is more natural on stage, though there’s a lot of facial tension, and she has a very compromised voice - wobbly middle voice and weak chest voice. Garanca is a Nordic glacier, completely different temperament, has to work very hard to convince as a Gypsy girl in the Mediterranean. Even if the voice is much more accomplished, her lax, Unincisive French leaves little impact in the role.
While Antonacci may not have a pretty voice like Garanca, she does everything an opera singer should do - Act, sing and goes over the top...Garanca? She's asleep at the wheel.
