Strange though it might seem; I feel that Laura Mvula has a bit of Bjork about her, in the same way that Bjork has something of Kate Bush. Regardless, Mvula has massive potential.
More than two years later, this became one of my favorite songs from utopia. Her work seriously grows on you, it's like she plants the seeds, and at the perfect moment they bloom. This makes my heart feel at such a vulnerable state. I absolutely love her for this specific quality.
YES! I didn't love this song so much at first but after a couple of years...and all of a sudden, it's beautiful. Her songs TOTALLY grow on you. Like a dream you start to remember.
As much as I ignored it at first, it took me years as well to fall in love with this album and now I'm feeling so full understanding her on the level I did for more than ever
@@felixmarques It is why the music does not evolve, the same motif, the same key. It forces a single mood all the way through. The hypnotic suspense builds until the sustained ecstasy begins to feel like torment, like a party glass ready to shatter. Suddenly it all disperses into clown noises. If you listen again, having heard the ending, everything changes. It is new. Bjork is the genius of the emotional landscape. Her inner gaze is so merciless, it becomes universal. Listening to her is like dreaming
Totally agree..she was a baby, she was abducted by the faeries and they said...you will be very special. And than they whispered into her ear the universal secrets of creating music and art!😁
mp3 the worst quality ever , high quality music should be on a cd or lp and the musician worked hard for it so bloody pay for it , no wonder so much shit is available on mp3 mainstream usually , they listen twice and throw it in the bin......btw have you noticed 90 percent are girls who have an opinion about Bjork , that used to be different , 52 she is hope she will be with us for many yrs to come .....on cd/dvd
I find the mp3 line as her acknowledging time, and brings the fantasy to the real world, she is txting, and is frightened that her love is a myth, to be honest its a really depressing song, for how beautiful it sounds.
zenobowie: The only problem is that even the biggest artists of our times are putting out very poor quality sounding vinyl records. Bjork, Radiohead and Depeche mode, to name but a few, have earned themselves a (presumably) unwanted reputation for this, going back many years now. Makes me think that this vinyl revival (if we're to believe what we're being told?) is more about fashion than any desire to own music in the best sounding format available. I'm guessing that many of the younger vinyl buyers never actually play their records and that it's more a thing of oneupmanship over their F(r)iends, that they own an actual physical copy. Quite simply, I believe that the record industry sees vinyl as a cash cow at the moment and they're milking it for all it's worth before the cow dries up completely! There seems to be very little consideration given, in general, to how the music on that vinyl (or C.D.) record sounds; just get them out on the shelves as quickly as you can and put a sticker on the cover proudly boasting that the disc weighs 180gms (what, like that makes it sound less bad?!). I don't care when it's the new album from the latest talentless hype but when it's from the likes of Bjork or Radiohead, and you know the attention to detail they put into everything they release, it is entirely unacceptable.
She’s sooo absolutely adorable in this video! I love her look, her outfit, her hair, her make up, her movements, her smile, her sclera recovering contacts, her negative space eyebrows, the butterflies and flowers in her hair, the red dot on the back of her neck, the yellow tights she has underneath the sheer blue jumpsuit, the yellow platform shoes, The love and happiness in the lyrics💜🌸💜
Her eyes are my favorite part of the video! I love how big the pupils look, like she's beyond amazed and just drowning in all kinds of emotions; and they're so expressive too, at the beginning they look so happy, but at the end they're sad. So awesome!
The perfect Love Song for the 21st Century . So fragile, so simple, so alien, so hypnotic, like a Mantra to lull digital natives who are lovers but also old school romantics with a tendency to daydream.
I think we should.. we always get frustrated over the amount of hate present in this world, and in doing so, we lose that love, too. We are contradicting ourselves. I know it's hard to see the light, and that's why we must create our own. Bjork is a beautiful light in this world.. And instead of just admiring her, maybe we can be inspired, to let our light come out too.
yes - Björk hasn't done a hit song like Human Behaviour, Hyperballad or Jóga in ages. but once you put your headphones on and listen really carefully... damn, some of those new songs on Vulnicura and Utopia have really interesting structures and "little" ideas (just follow closely what's happening after 1:58). I was similarly impressed with "Mouth Mantra" or "Notget" and a couple of songs on Utopia are sure really interesting works as well.
@@quinnlewis2003 At this point in her career she no longer needs the same success she had 20 years ago. She has sold more than 40 million records worldwide with artistic, experimental music, the opposite of the junk music in radio today. All this, even coming from the small Iceland. She has already proven to be an icon of music, now she does it for art.
Blissing Me lyrics: All of my mouth was kissing him Now, into the air, I am missing him Is this excess texting a blessing? Two music nerds obsessing He reminds me of the love in me I'm celebrating on a vibrancy Sending each other MP3s Falling in love to a song This handsomest of wickermen He asked if I could wait for him Now, how many lightyears this interim While I fall in love with his songs? His hands are good in protecting me Touching and caressing me But would it be trespassing Wanting him to be blissing me Robbing him of his youth? Cliffhanger-like suspension My longing has formed its own skeleton Bridging the gap between singletons Sending each others these songs The interior of these melodies Is perhaps where we are meant to be Our physical union a fantasy (I just fell) I just fell in love with a song So, I reserve my own intimacies I bundle them up in packages My rawward longing far too visceral Did I just fall in love with love? Songwriters: Björk Gudmundsdottir
the lyrics of the song go far beyond "sending each other mp3s". they talk about feelings that don't have really anything to do with the current world age, they are more general. björk usually surpasses her lyrics by her music by far, but here the lyrics are equally amazing and important.
Very seldom will you find an artist that truly carves her own canvas and paints it however she pleases, without the noisy eye of the industry befalling her. She's an inspiration to me, as an aspiring music producer.
damn right, dropping an album like this, she becomes immortal. people go on about beyonce and lemonade. in this over the top PC world. this has a psychic magical, and dark side. her refusal to censor. the beastiality line in body memory blew my brain, as it's used to describe something else. the album can make you feel uneasy, you can't learn this style, and her improvisation has all it needs her life is song, and its unpredictable, you know there is songs with 10 melodies. she sits with the gods now
She is everything to me. I went through a terrible breakup not long ago and you guys have no idea what it's like listening to this peaceful and utterly blissful track.. my god this women is majestic and the true embodiment of pop, and abstract melodies. Fuck it feels like she's the only pop artist out there that's willing to take risks to create something memorable that will be remembered for decades to come.
SquishyFruit - I hope things get better for you since your break-up. About Bjork, you are so, so right. She is an incredibly unique musical genius. She goes beyond where no other pop artists dare to go.
Love the fact she sounds in such great vocal form too. The dryness and occasional hoarseness is gone, and the tone is full and mature. This is high-end pop at it's very best. Thank God someone out there still cares enough about the art of pop to keep raising the bench-mark!
Violintention violin: Which just happens to be one of my very most favourite Bjerk songs. By the way, your username is bloody awful, if you don't mind me being totally honest with you. No offence intended of course!
God I feel this song to my core now. I’ve been communicating through songs on spotify with a guy i was friends with last year after a year of no contact. I stopped talking to him because I fell for him and I knew we couldn’t be together. I thought he probably just saw me as a friend even though at parties we’d be romantic w each other. He started adding songs and then i did too and I’m so close to adding this one but i can’t. He has a girlfriend now. It wouldn’t be right, but this is exactly how I feel. I just want to add this song, leave the playlist and forget about him and everything even though I miss him too. I feel so guilty. At least I have this song to comfort me.
The more I listen to her music, the more this statement is true. Her "Debut" album came out 24 years ago yet it still sounds so fresh. I'm barely beginning to comprehend "Biophilia".
I feel like she has been a vital part of my own personal and spiritual evolution since the early 90s. I was very young during the sugar cubes tho i loved them as well! Björk has been and will always be my muse. Her music transnends my mind, allowing me to visually express my own self artistically. I'm so proud to be a life long fan of hers. She's never disappointed me yet with her lyrical and vocal expressions over the past 25 + years. And she still looks as youthful as ever! Truly timeless ☄
This enchants me...so magical, her delivery, the text-y thumbs, her smiling, omg...I can't stop watching / listening "how many light years this interim?" Gorgeousness.
Her voice and artistic mind are two beautiful things, but put together they cause something magical, to put in a word. Listening to her music is one thing but experiencing the emotional and visual aspect is a whole different thing. It’s livid, original, pure and harmonic. Rather than focusing on the obvious difference in her videos and appearance in them, try focusing on how beautiful and heartfelt her lyrics are. They are truly touching and speak out like a poet. Björk is one of a kind, there is nothing or no one out there like her or could even be compared to the level that she is on. I am so glad I discovered this stunning artist, she puts my mind to ease and just makes me feel like I’m riding a wave filled with harmony and love. The difference may be odd to some people but I REALLY encourage to listen to multiple titles she has made, her art varies from a lot of things. That’s the thing I feel as everyone loves about Björk, you don’t know what you’re going to get next.
Bjork creates such a heavy surreal poignant atmosphere no other artist ever wants to, but Bjork pulls it off not because she's weird and it by chance sounds the way it sounds for the sake of being weird, hell no. She's just on another level, she's herself. Like a real artist should be. Everything you hear is planned and executed with purpose. I adore every ounce of her musical genius and poetic prowess. She teaches me a lot about music, life, and love.
Hearing her music, how she blends physical instruments, electronic sounds, soundscapes into an "out of this world" dream, every time, and how she defines-performs her songs, inspire us, thank you..
I love how Björk described Utopia as her "Tinder album", and this song perfectly shows what she meant. The mixture of the modern and the ancient, the visuals and the melody... It all sounds so magical and beautifully comforting. I pre-ordered her album not knowing what we were getting, and I honestly still don't know what to expect from this new album. I trust her vision and her sound. I've grown with her work, and I've learned to listen. I know I will never be disappointed. Besides, it sounds like a mirrored version of Vespertine (my personal favorite), and I'm very excited!!
A music video so simple, beautiful and vulnerable such as her voice on the song. A very nice counterpart to the visually intense and stunning video for The Gate. Can't wait to hear the rest!
They should make an award for creative original artists who make and paint their own canvas, adults and youths from all ages who’ve proven that they don’t care what people say, or what their standards are. That they just do what their heart desires. The Björk Award.
probably the most accurate description. I feel like the first three tracks reference a lot of the style of Vespertine, and then Body Memory fucks up that illusion by reminding her that there’s trauma and toxic thinking that needs to get out of her body. I love how the whole album is about healing.
Airy, otherworldy, passionate, poetic, reflective, introspective, blissful and playfully divine. Just what we need to nurture and soften our hearts. Thank you, Bjork and Arca.✨💐🌈💫
I adore how she use mimic in here, and thats trick made me feel vertigo in my stomach ..it was an experience just a music video only bjork can do something like that
'Blissing me' is one of the most beautiful and heartfelt songs ever made. This song makes me fall asleep and dream. Bjork herself looks like an ice queen in that ice blue outfit. She looks stunning. I'm so glad Bjork exists. What I love the most about Bjork is her soft angel voice. So beautiful and heartwarming. I wish I could visit Iceland and meet Bjork. I hear this pleasant song in my dreams. It calms me down when I'm in panic or stressed. Bjork sings like an angel and this beautiful song comes from heaven. God bless Bjork. 😍😍 😘😘😳😳😴👼👼😇😇🙏🙏💐💐🌹🌹🌹🌹🌸🌸🌸🌼🌼🌼👂🎧🎵

Oh thanks for the advice and pardon my lack of intellect. Perhaps you can help me understand what the first stanza mean "All of my mouth was kissing him, Now into the air i am missing him, Is this excess texting a blessing, Or just two music nerds obsessing" - it is really deep.
@@einweieskaninchen413 the make-up is done by Hungry (isshehungry on instragram), drag queen from Berlin, I don't believe it has to do anything with Guardians
I'm at a crossroad right now even though I'm highly depressed. When I least expect it, you are always there. This song is truly a blessing. Your voice is so soothing and calming that's it just let's me know that everything will be fine in the end. I Love you, Bjork.
