This concert is a KNOCKOUT. The pure pleasure for me is “Hidden Place”. That intro knocks me out everytime. Who comes up with an insane beat like this? Pair it with an Inuit choir? And shuffling cards? Only Bjork.
@@faust8569 I tried to get tickets and failed... waited at the door and couldn't get in.... now I'm nearly 40 and still one of my biggest regrets that I didn't find a way in.

Their yours to keep..Thats more meaningful than tickets- even though the concert we've missed. @@gherati love matmos but it's an often repeated myth that they 'made' most of music on Vesp. Björk herself did, they joined in in a later phase. Read a Pitchfork interview with Björk from around 2015 - it's enlightening as hell.
I was thinking that same thing. Cool also that the Inuit are at their core an Animist Culture as well. Although actually I bet lots of them have converted to Christianity now. But still…
I have seen Bjork LIVE a few times over the years, with each show being totally different. I can only image what it was like to have been in the audience for the taping of this HBO special. Her style is unique and so incredibly talented; the versions of Pagan Poetry and All Is Full Of Love are simply breathtaking.
I remember flipping channels on a Saturday afternoon as a 13 year old kid when I came across this performance, I was completely entranced. I had no clue who Bjork was, thanks HBO for airing this and changing my life 💓
I watched a documentary of her where she said the worked 16 hour days for 6 years without a break. that's what it takes to be at this level. The refinement is impeccable.
She is legit from a different planet, hence her playing by her own rules which we can simply only try to comprehend. Additionally, she is mad beautiful. 🥵
this version of Possibly Maybe is Björk at her most confident - especially everything after that cheeky little grin just before the second verse. may be a peak performance contender among all her live performances
her backup singers have such nice voices got to love how she can drop the sickest beats, lyrics that reach into the absolute final depths of human authenticity, set an entire image with her music she composed herself AND use her voice as more than just a simple instrument she makes the music greater than the sum of its parts and fully matured by her vocalizations. she doesnt do anything because "thats what you are supposed to do when writing songs", she just fills every single second of the experience with the most extreme emotional descriptions of the things she wants to say.
This is when. You can tell she was classily music taught her voice is another instrument sometimes it’s so blurred voice or organ? She will not be known for her genius until we are gone! I played unravel for one of my young colleagues the other day she cried and brought everything Bjork has created!
Unravel gets me every time i listen to it...it gets me crying and it's like pushing a button!!There is something about that song that gets me every time!
@@RobertLiera-oc6cc Just a few days before 9-11. The acoustics of the church were incredible. Her voice ran through all of us that night. It was an experience I'll never forget.
STUNNING. Those insane beats, JUST EXTRAORDINARY. But I cried so hard when she did Possibly Maybe, that is a REALLY PAINFUL SONG for me to hear. When she sings “I’m EXHAUSTED, LEAVE ME ALONE”, it reminds me of my very abusive partner right after a particularly vicious end to our relationship. Bjork, I doubt you’ll read this, but thank you for writing that song. It’s very healing.
One of the greatest female vocalists of all time, and to open with Pagan Poetry, with the music box no manufacturer wanted to make initially. Absolutely spectacular.
This is really an epic concert! I can see & hear it time & time again! This must be the icelandic siren truly at her best! I love her hypnotizing vocals,plus the melodic chanting of the backing tribe choir! Hurray & praise for this unforgettable,phenomenal, masterpiece of a concert! Been a fan since Sugarcubes..she's what I relate too.. yet can't explain- I'm glad the connection was and still is their...when most of meanings have..She remains. As do I- all emotions for all we go through

At this point I basically listen to music for a living. And all of these songs stand Head and shoulders above most artists; but Unravel is one of the greatest songs I've ever encountered as a grown, adult man, ; i would've been a complete mess if i was there. This song is close to God himself; it's frankly indescribable with my language.

I loved this when I saw it I always remember watching this because it was right before the tower bombings and a lot of new beginnings in my life. I was soo young then 23 years old an age ago.
No microphone at 20:00 (and 13:00 ) ????? I see something that looks like a small one, on the left side of her chest. I assume that small micros get less signal, otherwise there would only existed small ones. Or maybe they amplify her more, when she sings with the small one.

who can say that "ALL is full of LOVE"...does not sound like a bond theme...the opening itself......screams espionage!!!.....and is she wearing a black swan dress? or an ostrich dress or a peacock dress....and is this before the OSCAR? where she wore the white swan dress? and that card shuffling during hidden place?? so random yet so much part of the song itself
She's like an alien or something.. Icelandic people are kind of like cats. I don't know how else to describe it. The is the greatest performance in the history of music. Easy.
