now this is a genuine interview with bjork. it makes me sick seeing all the ridiculous or sexualized/demeaning interviews that the media put her through because of the type of culture. it feels difficult finding genuine interviews that really dive into her mind. thanks for uploading this! its no wonder she rarely shows up on tv anymore..
this is an interview from NRK, the tv-channel that belongs to the state of Norway. they are way, way better at doing interveiws than americans and brits if you ask me. björk seems way more comfortable here than in any of the american/british ones.
Well, I understand the Sugarcubes a little better now. They were just artist being creative...and Bjork happened to be the exceptional talent in the group, but otherwise, they were all having a good time experimenting, making films, writing novels or poetry, etc. It just happened by accident that others took notice.
I love Björk - this is excellent. It’s kind of curious how her accent is very “normal” sort of a Nordic English but when you remind her of her homeland, her “r” gets that strong trill that you’d hear especially later in her career. It’s like she inhabits these personas, I think, quite honestly. She certainly didn’t want to be pigeonholed by the English, but didn’t want to be subsumed into London either. What does one do?
She's not really feigning it. She'd lived in London for several years by that point. It's interesting how she drops in and out of her native accent though.
It's the English language. So people in Europe tend to learn it in an English accent. The accents of non-native speakers are them trying and failing to pronounce vowels differently from the ones in their native language. So naturally sometimes they get closer than others. Nobody's "feigning" lol
@@mattbarrentine7056 Hahaha, thats ridiculous, dude. They don't learn English from sailors who wash ashore, she. Nearly 100% of Icelanders speak English, and shes spoken it her whole life. The idea that Europeans "naturally" speak English with an English accent is just idiotic., if you'll forgive me by saying so. She's feigning it, here.
