In this video I defend my stance in thinking BJ Penn doesn't deserve to be in the UFC Hall of Fame simply for being a fan favorite. #ufc #halloffame #bjpenn
Why wouldn't you use tapology... It shows the record of the opponent at the time that they fought. And much more accurate representation of how good they were at the time of the fight
Sad as it is it's true. I had a friend who kept disrespecting me recently. I didn't want to but I had to give him three or four solid shots to the face the other week. There are limits that need to be respected people forget that s*** especially when they're either drunk or behind the screen.
You’re comparing his record to the standards of today. The guys BJ beat who you claim suck were top contenders at the time. You’re just naming off losses without context. You don’t know what you’re talking about kid
He only has a couple good wins. Stevenson was pushed from TUF. Sanchez, Hughes, and Ken-Flo are his good wins and Sanchez was overhyped. He lost every time he faced a great fighter. Frankie is his daddy.
@@superfightz lol, you can't be serious. You don't think Sean Sherk was a good win? Gomi? Florian? You're either just trolling or did not watch MMA back then and are judging these fighters strictly off their records and not their abilities in their prime. And I'm an admitted BJ Penn hater, I can't stand the guy. He was a lazy, entitled crybaby. But he is one of if not the best LW ever and beat several fellow UFC Hall of Famers.
Most people fought cans their first couple fights… That’s “cherry picking” aspects of his career to try and make him look bad. Go and look at GSP’s record and see if you know any of the guys he fought in his first 5 fights… doubt it. You clearly have zero reference of historical mma… and that’s fine. Just Stop trying to be controversial… and like some shock jock sports journalist… you sound silly. Gomi a bum? Pulver a bum ? Gomi was the consensus #1 LW on the planet for years.. Pulver as well just for a shorter period of time. Not to mention Jens should have been fighting at 135/maybe even 125… not 155… But I’m sure you have no reference point for that… Caol Uno is another census top-10/5 LW for years back then… And at the time, Japan had better mma then the USA… again, something that you appear to have zero knowledge of or understanding of. You’ll “give him” the Joe Stevenson fight… But the other guys are cans..? Also… BJ’s loses came to WW’s…(most of them) His hall of fame career is at LW and as a pioneer. The hall of fame is unstructured bc the sport was somewhat unstructured at the time… You still have to give props to those that helped bring the sport along... you don’t trash them. You don’t compare any other sports current athletes to the pioneers of those sports… it’s a different game now. Part of BJ’s mystic was him taking on all comers.. fighting outside of his weight class… etc. You can keep up your schtick or whatever… But do some historical research into the sport and you’d probably pick up some useful information. Best of luck
You are either trolling or just uninformed. The only people he lost to in his prime (and never got the win back.) was against GSP and Frankie Edgar, as well as a 225 pound lyoto when he was only 191. So in his prime he lost to GSP the greatest ww of all time no REAL arguments to the contrary and arguably the GOAT right next to JJ and Mighty Mouse. Frankie edgar who was one of if not the best LW at the time and an oversized lyoto who he had no business fighting.
Do you understand evoluton of sport? This is like saying eddie van halen suck's at guitar. All the guitar players of today literally stand on his shoulders and use HIS tricks. BJ is an OG. not worthy lmao...
U can say this about all fighters from this era it’s still a fairly young sport these guys paved the way if u time travel and put these guys from this era against today they wouldn’t do well no but its evolved so much they paved the way they need respect
