Ahhh the lovehate of bodyblushing. I never usually do it for my dolls but i had a doll that would have frostbite kinda feeling on his fingers so i thought i'd do that. Not only was it a ton of MSC it chipped on the side of his finger not even a day after. D: It looks SO good but at the same time, is it worth. sigh
Great video! After having to take a doll apart to dye her, I dread the idea of taking another apart to do body blushing, but the idea of uneven sealant on the body seems even more horrifying to me lol.
I'm thinking of making a character doll. And the character walks around completely bare footed. What are your thought on body blushing a character doll like that who is always barefooted? He would be used for photos and meet ups and stuff but that's why I'm unsure as to if I should leave the body blank or have the blushing done so it looks more natural
All my dolls are barefoot all the time, lol. I personally like body blushing overall. I think it really stands out in photos, but I don't have the time as much these days so some of my newer dolls aren't fully blushed, they only have faceups. The ones that are fully blushed have their toenails lightly blushed and then sealed with a clear acrylic paint or varnish for that glossy nail look. I like to add a slightly darker shade than their resin color in chalk pastels between the toes to help the sculpt stand out, but it's really up to you and what you're comfortable with. The dolls that don't have blushed feet look washed out, but those that do really stand out in photos and even just glancing over at them. It can take some time and practice, but even a simple layer of darker pastel in shadow areas can really help define the sculpt.
