Before discovering Bjork in my late teens I had a solid, intimate relationship with music. But she made me understand how much deeper and bigger that relationship was. She elevated my understanding of art. Thanks for the reaction ! ;)
it's really fun seeing someone react for the first time to these songs i love so much. björk is such a fun ride. "Family" is lots and lots of strings and beats, and "Unison" is (at least to me) one of her most beautiful songs.
My most favorite song and video from Bjork. I’m glad you reacted to this one. There aren’t many reactions with Bjork. All of her songs and videos cool. They appeal to my autism. I like to see some more reactions to her songs and video. > All is Full of Love, Big Time Sensuality, Army of Me, Possibly Maybe, Violently Happy, I Miss You.
If you check out the single covers for Post, there's this mix of fun retro CGI and anime (the "Astro Boy/Polar Bear" covers of Army of Me in particular) that to me suggests where this stylish fakeness comes from - plus I don't think they could truly have made it realistic on a budget, and I'm not sure it would've looked as striking. But I also think she was just being funny, which I always think is an underrated aspect of her
I believe this is one of her more Icelandic influenced songs in the literal sense. down to the composition of the strings being unique to classical Icelandic composers played by artists she flew out to her recording studio in Spain at the time. I know nothing about composition in the technical sense but it's fascinating to research
I do love Janet, but the quality of her work drops off pretty steeply after the velvet rope, which is the fourth proper album, if you’re considering control her first album. I believe, there’s 2 prior to control, but most would consider it her first…. Bjork is a more rewarding album artist, because most albums are conceptual, to some degree - and flat out fantastic; although sometimes, it can be a bit much. Similarly, her first four albums are her strongest, with the exception of vulnicura, released in 2015, which is incredible. I’d still fall on the side of bjork, though. Creatively, she’s masterful-even if she is a bit too heady for her own good 😉
Wonderment is what she Pulls out of the listener/viewer. The fact that Her voice can transport any1 exactly to her desired destination but the Arrangements & Compositions Create this mental picture/vision that can literally makes you feel and see what she envisioned during the creative process. Now , if all that wasn't enough She carries all those ideas over to the screen and Is able to Create these Videos that Leave you Bewildered, Astonished and Craving more. She is Truly a Genre & Category of Music , All To Herself, UNTOUCHABLE 🤯🤯👏👏👏👏💯. I Do hope you go down her Discography Rabbit hole, even if it's not on RU-vid . I just really want you to Fully experience Her Genius.
I can out think most of the people I've met in my life, but I'm pretty sure Bjork would have me on my knees in a very short bit of time. So much put into each song. So much. Abstract and emotional melodies with the beats and odd sounds placed perfectly along with the other background sounds (in this case the strings) that tie it all together. I don't know much about her accolades in the music or art world, but her gift needs to be recognized on the highest level. It's not music for everyone, but everyone should hear it. Edit: autocorrect sucks.
Oh if you had to choose between Bjork and Janet, Bjork is definitely the way to go! I loved both back then, but when I listen to Janet's stuff now, much of her earlier stuff really haven't stood the test of time
Bork sometimes lies about the song meanings- this song not only concerns her feeling responsible for her team, it's also a bit of a fuck u to nelly hooper or tricky (I forget which); it's also about her hunger for new music. She ends a live version of this song with the lyrics " you just didn't know me/ you just didn't know me//you just didn't know me/you just didn't know me". Also, no offence, but I got a good laugh out of u not knowing who to concentrate on, Bjork or Janet Jackson; bit like wondering if u should listen to Callas or beyonce.
I think I would prefer Janet. I feel like Bjork peters out for me earlier. But Sugarcubes can be thrown in there. I want you to react to Brit Pop albums sometime. Im not sure how connected you are to that music.
Haha, I think you asked that recently on another reaction and I did loads of really long replies because I was bored at work. Check out the replies to your comment on the Kylie Minogue Dreams video. I had a lot of time on my hands that day
Her first three albums are like the best trilogy ever. Unfortunately her 2000s output left me scratching my head. Still, she remains one of my favorite artists. Something about women’s voices and electronics just really does it for me.
I kind of check out of most artists catalogues after the first three records. I feel like they say most of what they will on those. Some exceptions of course. Madonna, Depeche Mode, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Placebo,…
@@taintedlife2618 I agree. Damn. Now I miss Siouxsie. She’s amazing and hasn’t recorded in 20 years. I have everything she did. Madonna is my favorite for so many reasons, but it’s her eclectic catalog and longevity that impresses me most.
@@coolhive2941 well she’s doing a show in California in May so I’ll Be seeing her for The first time. An absolute goddess. I don’t know how I’ve never seen her live before.
@@coolhive2941I believe her solo album Was about ten years ago. I didn’t listen to it. But I suppose there’s always another banshees record I haven’t picked up yet.
@@taintedlife2618 it was 2007 when it was released. Such a shame she hasn’t released since then. Almost 20 years. And enjoy the show! I saw the ad on Facebook and was shocked she’s touring again. I only saw her live one time at Roseland Ballroom in NYC. They were amazing. I got to sit next to the sound mixer booth and see how they concocted all their cool sounds in a live setting.
