Chapter 1: Bud Light Lime
The summer sun blazed overhead as Chris, Pat, and Timmy gathered on the back porch, kicking off what they thought would be a quiet weekend. A cooler sat between them, filled with ice and the unmistakable clinking of Bud Light Lime bottles. It had been Pat's idea-“something refreshing for the heat,” he had said, cracking open a bottle.
Chris took a sip, making a face. “Tastes like a lemon gave up halfway through.”
Pat laughed. “Hey, it’s not about the taste. It’s about the vibe.”
Timmy grinned but stayed quiet, lost in thought. They had all felt it lately-that something was off. Maybe it was Bill Walton's passing, or the strange events they’d been through in the past few months. But whatever it was, the air felt heavy, even on a day as bright as this.
Pat broke the silence. “You guys remember when we had to save our souls in that no-strings-attached foosball game with Tom Penny Peepers?”
Chris chuckled, shaking his head. “How could I forget? We barely made it out alive.”
Timmy nodded, but his eyes remained distant. As they sat there, sipping their Bud Light Limes, they didn’t realize that the peaceful weekend they had envisioned was about to be shattered.
