Your comment is factually inacurate, She was a biracial woman of Black and white heritage originally from the Deep South. For a book about her life, I recommend Myth of the Welfare Queen: A Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalist's Portrait of Women on the Line, by David Zucchino .

The only known fact was her mother was white they never mentioned what her dad's race was. Her father could have been black,Cuban, Mexican, Asian etc. since she posed as a black woman in the south society automatically believed her father was black. Even the book about her life could not pinpoint exactly what race her father was. Even the government betrayed her as a black woman 🙄 because they believed majority of African-Americans were receiving welfare and that we were animals, thieves etc. they definitely couldn't paint her as a white woman stealing from the government especially around that time. How would that make them look 😂

And yet living in the ghetto peoples are proud to be welfare queens. I worked at an urban jewelry store and yet I have people coming in and asking if we take food stamp for jewelry. Even some of my customers would come in and openly talk about all the benefits the government gives them and how they will have another baby while without a husband or a job. I still can’t believe after her 6th child she got pregnant again and so proud about it too. And still not married and with another baby daddy.

I really hope you dont take those bad people and think everyone who are poor are like that. There are more people who actually need welfare than those using it for their own gain.

Genie #GlassLamp which is why the welfare system needs to be reform and become stricter with background checks and limited on how the money is spent. It shouldn’t be this easy to cause welfare fraud. Also I prefer the welfare system concentrate on the betterment of the children instead throw money at the parents.

@@CrimsonEclipse I do think it should be reformed but not at the expense of the people who actually need it. I hate that there is a stigma that everyone who is using welfare is lazy, doesnt want to work, and is abusing the system.

Genie #GlassLamp it’s not going to be the expense of people who needs it if they actually make sure they actually needs it. Which is why they need to do background check and make sure the money isn’t wasted on unnecessary things. Many other countries does it better on their social welfares and offers better quality of life of children.

.it is sad but this is the reality..i know people who used to buy cigarretes and lotto with food stamps....food stamps should be only for senior citizens.
