I think you should blindfold people who really know African dishes or at least who claim to know African dishes . They probably couldn’t have guessed it even without the blindfolds . No hate , cause I don’t know either. After my dna test I cooked Jollof and jacked it up lol 😂

Africa is the most diverse continent with THOUSANDS of dishes and culture. Take time to research tribes and their traditional foods if you want to fix your ignorance. For example, Jollof rice is considered a party food not something traditional, Many don't even know its origins; Its a Senegalese/Gambian dish from the Wollof tribe, Ghananians and Nigerians just copied and took credit. I blame American media for treating Africa like a monolith and not caring to educate you on the divesity. Many Africans including myself are tired of the generalisation and reducing our diversity to Nigeria and jollof. Even Nigeria itself is an extremely diverse place with 500+ native languages
@rainnmoon114
@rainnmoon114 2 года назад
@@gen6473 If you want to stop ignorance then make your own page and educate people. Invite all types of Africans to cook something from their diverse culture. This is the fault of American entertainment and people just not taking the time to research and try to connect to a culture that just isn't theirs anymore. When black panther came out a bunch of people went to the theatre in African garb and most of them had no idea which culture it was actually from.

Here are my suggestions: From Kenya 🇰🇪: pilau (rice dish), and kachumbari (basically a form of salsa or poco de gallo), and chapati; from South Africa 🇿🇦 : boerewors (spicy sausage), biltong (jerky), and koeksisters (a sweet pastry); and from Zimbabwe 🇿🇼, sadza (also known in South Africa as pap, and in Kenya as ugali), and injera from Ethiopia 🇪🇹.

Given that the Habasha culinary experience is big in the U.S. in cities like Los Angeles, D.C., Atlanta, Seattle, Cincinnati, and wherever their a large Habesha population (i.e. ሀበሻ/ሐበሻ/ሓበሻ)…it’s amazing to see that Nigeria has a name, a concept, without even the two ladies never tasting it before. It’s not uncommon for adjacent cultures to infiltrate under a more popular brand. Koreans used to brand undert Japanese/sushi restaurants; Cambodians brand under Thai or Chinese food; and many Sub-Saharan black Africans just branded under African food 🤷🏾‍♂️ But here we are where 🇪🇹Ethiopia 🇸🇳Sénégal 🇳🇬Nigeria and 🇬🇭Ghana has carved out their culinary unique signatures. A very proud moment. We can be unique and still Africans united. I’m West African and love Maghrebi and Habesha cuisine right along with West African classic cuisines. I’ll eat 🇹🇳 chakchouka (شكشوكة) with 🇪🇹 gomen wat (ጎመን ወጥ) and 🇳🇬 iyán - not odd at all.

I’ve been to Morocco. So far I haven’t had jollof I’ve liked. I think because the people who cooked it were cooking for a large group and didn’t adjust the seasoning ratio.

I suggest looking up recipes on youtube so that you can see what goes in it. Jollof rice isn’t traditionally from Nigeria it’s actually from Senegal

I think that’s the case but most ppl who have ever eaten jollof rice have had it at a Nigerian person’s house or at a Nigerian restaurant or a Nigerian wedding/party. I believe it’s also eaten in all of the west African countries and there’re also variations in the way ppl from different countries make jollof rice.
