American black bears are one of the thousands of species that call Pine Mountain home. Once extirpated from Kentucky they returned through the forests of Central Appalachia. Protected wildlands offer key habitat for bears and other forest dwelling species. This mother and her cubs were seen along Pine Mountain... the cubs just seem to keep appearing!
