My mother is from Sapporo Hokkaido and the Omiyage (gift) to get in that region is 100% "Shiroi Koibito", It's a thick white or milk chocolate slice in between two crunchy thin sweet wafers, and honestly it's one of my absolute favorite snacks in the world, especially the white chocolate one...if you ever do a video like this again, you must include them, you will love them...fun fact, we have a house right next to the factory, well almost...
It's funny that you would say that the banana cake is what a Twinkie dreams of being. The original Twinkies were banana creme filled! They had to swap away from banana flavoring due to rationing in WWII.
I was waiting for Tokyo Banana and I wasn’t disappointed. In my last Tokyo trip, half of my luggage were all Tokyo Banana Omiyage as that’s the most requested take home gift from my co-workers. 😝
That last one is adorable, it looks like a cross between a peep and a pear!!😍😂 They actually all look amazing. Thank you as always for sharing such unusual and unique experiences with us, Emmy. Cheers
I loved your reaction to each treat as much as the treats themselves 💖 Each treat was so well presented; I'd be incredibly happy gifting these and getting these. I think the otter was my favourite, but then I Iove coffee!
Just realized I’ve been watching your channel for 7 years.. that means I’ve been watching you since I was 17 🥲 The first video I watched of yours what the spaghetti o jello mold recipe ❤ Also I’m craving a video filmed from inside your house again like a few years ago. Love your channel so much!! Thank you for all you do ❤
All that candy: SUGAR RUSH!! You're right, Emmy. The sheer, almost anally-retentive attention to detail sets just about anything Japanese apart from its counterparts in other countries. The sticker holding that "egg" didn't need to be painted like a cut hardboiled egg, but making it so just adds so much to it.
i saw a japanese cookie factory tour that made these sorts of sweets. the care that goes into the process is really admirable. great part of japanese culture
Fun fact.. the "artificial" banana was the flavor of the previous dominant species of banana, the Gran Michel. But it became blighted and effectively wiped out. Some do still exist but not in an y commercial capacity. The seedling I had died immediately.
Honestly, I'm not glad a whole cultivar of bananas was wiped out, but I am glad that we have Cavendish now. I love Cavendish, I hate the taste of gros michel.
I read that Laffy Taffy was first made when Gros Michel instead of the Cavendish was the banana du jour so that was the banana flavour they used to flavour their banana sweets back then.
The flavor used for banana in the US , is the same chemical used for pear flavor in the UK. Generic sweet fruit flavor, I can't remember the name though.
Hey lovely- that yolk was incredible! I once had a hot fudge burger at a restaurant and it was pretty phenomenal!! You should try a Cap’n Crunch burger. Those are the most precious chicks- perfect Easter treat. 100 years wow!!! Thursdays and Saturdays are always my favorite days- thanks to you!!! ❤❤❤
Hi Emmymade. I really love your homemade videos! Although it’s just you and your camera in your house, it feels very welcoming and warm! Keep making these amazing homemade videos in your kitchen! I feel like a guest.
I looooove Hiyoko! I think Hakata Torimon also from Fukuoka is also really good! One more thing I recently discovered was Mitsuemon from Oita when I went to Yufuin a week ago. Its a sweet potato-shaped tiny cake that is mind-blowingly good, it really tastes like sweet potato, even more so than a real sweet potato.
I had two of these omiyage. The corn one and the Tokyo banana. When we went to Tokyo banana, they were celebrating the birth of the panda around christmas 2016 or was it 2017? So yummy! I love seeing all the omiyage when traveling around in the train stations! Thank you for sharing these cute treats!
So that's where the look of peeps came from, they must have traveled to Japan. Thanks for the his history of bringing back treats from your travels,. Japanese knows the art of packaging and presentation.
Hello from Texas ! I love all things Japanese! Where did you find these treats at that price. Amazon only has half and is very expensive ! Thank you for sharing this info with us ! Always looking forward to your next video !!
Oh I have tried the cheese chocolate burger in Sydney Australia where I live. This Cafe place called Hong Kong Cafe they have something similar they call it pineapple bun with butter. You can have it sweet or savoury I had mine like hamburger it is full size
I had the chance of trying Tokyo Banana a few times. they are really tasty and i need to go to Japan and try the special flavours too. Have a great week everyone
If you are listening, going to Tokyo, and gluten-free, there are gluten-free Tokyo Bananas at Haneda airport (possibly other places) but you have to ask. Not all places will have them.
