good job on the video! the two external laptop compartment zippers can interlock into each other (thus no fixed attachment point for the zipper) - the tab on one pull can be threaded into the hole in the other pull and then pulled tight until it snaps into place. it's not locked but does add a little more security.

Nice to see the second full review of this pack! Can't believe there aren't more. I've had one in orange for quite a few months, and I love it. A few things. I asked Black Ember what those three Velcro attachments at the top of the main compartment are for, and they said it was simply a design choice to affix that divider to the top without any intention of folks opening and closing the Velcro. It's strange until you realize something very few folks mention about this pack: BE's proprietary "stitch bond" tech. Basically, any chance they get to avoid a stitch or seam they take it so as to make the bag maximally water resistant. Aside from submersibles and a few rolltops, this pack has way more bonding/welding that any other EDC (I think), which really helps keep the water out. As for the "flimsy" top attachments of the shoulder straps, that was a specific design choice to allow wearers to orient the straps to fit to their body in the most flexible way. If they were stitched on tight, right to the top, you wouldn't have nearly the same range of motion or angles, which would limit how the straps fit different body types. Anyway, great job introducing folks to a great pack! And you're right: now we'll see how long the Hypalon, the bonding, the new fabric, and those strap tops handle the years. Very well, I think, but only time will tell.

Great review. This is the color I want now. One point, you aren’t using the security tabs correctly. They are supposed to go through/under the zipper garage and then the tail comes up and through the zipper garage tail from the back side. Done that way, it will be secure and won’t easily be undone. If you just close the zipper and route it through over the top as you showed it doesn’t lock into place securely thus why it’s easily undone. 👍🏽
