Black Folk Don't: Do Plastic Surgery 

Black people absolutely do have plastic surgery but no wayyyyyy as much as white people...there is no comparison

But isn't nose surgery most common among whites and East Asians, too?

I really like how they chose to include the opinions of a transgendered person on this- they were exactly right but what was said really opened my eyes- "we identify plastic surgery as being superficial and cosmetic" when it can be life saving.

I remember being very young (early to mid teens), wishing for fuller lips, smaller boobs and a bigger bottom (I basically wanted to look like what is traditionally thought of as ideal in the black community). Now I have come to appreciate who I am physically and I don't concern myself with what I cannot easily change. To me, surgery is such risk. It's too easy to wind up worse off than before. There are so many good contributions to make in the world. You can lose so much chasing and unattainable, pointless ideal.

I turned 60 last October. I only have 2 wrinkles, and I avoid the sun. Plus, I use good skin care. Genetics help, but you have to be pro active with your skin care.

So.... I have a relatively small % of African DNA... but I get picked on for my wide nose and lips. I don't blame anyone for getting plastic surgery. The world is cruel.

The only thing I have issue is they judge black ppl who get worked done, but me being from the Caribbean the African American here torture other blacks if they don't look like their standard African American. I've had more negative comments about my nose from black ppl then any other race. You honestly can't win in this community if you try and make your self assimilate your consider self hate if you don't your made fun of for being different. We should work on trying to bring ourselves up as a community no matter what your brother or sister look like or no matter if they do decide to get work done.

I'd wear a body suit and some tights and some more ...Hell no ! To many surgeries gone wrong. Not enough black surgeons for me to trust someone cutting on me!

I would definitely get a little something done but I'm currently a broke student and in my country there isn't that many surgeons with experience on black individuals.

I scar easily and it never leaves me for years and years. So if I had a surgery, any cuts they do to my body for "aesthetics" would be counterproductive as having scars is not pretty. Women are always attracted to pleasing others because of nature and they always begin with sounding like white women and wearing white women hairs.

I am very fortunate, although brown skinned, I have a universal attractive look, so I never thought about plastic surgery. After my first pregnancy my boobs got bigger and stayed basically the larger size ever since. my main concern has been to stay proportional. I never wanted anything too big because I saw how men behaved. I have always gotten male attention since I was a girl so as I have gotten older, I enjoy going out not hearing hey beautiful or the cat calling. or the extra attention. It's all sexually driven anyway. and on a basic level not driven by intelligence so I really do not want the headache. Our society is so sexually driven and transactional; I do understand why women feel the need to do the surgeries, I get it. Some women crave the attention, the gifts, the money or other benefits from men and women. People reward you based on your attractiveness in our society. That is just how our society behave very superficial. As you age hopefully wisdom come. I try not to judge other women because I have definitely benefited many times over for my attractiveness. I have no idea the pain women go through that are less attractive.

The spreading part at 3:36 is from a poor diet. My relatives and friends eat a ton of fried foods and drink all types of soft drinks which can majorly contribute to gaining weight. People think as you get older is ok to gain a lots of weight. No one can guess my age.. P.s. I'm walking on my treadmill as I type this

I love black noses! I have thought of changing mine in the past (im black) but my nose is kind of hooked. I have held off because it is a nose that many in our family have.

Actually I have a few consultations in S.Korea coming up for Plastic Surgery. They're more advanced, about 10-15 years ahead of the U.S. This is all surgery on my face (facial contouring, rhinoplasty, facial graph, v-line, blepharoplasty), not my body. Something I've been wanting to do for yearss. I'm the product of a hott mother and an ugly father. Wish I took more after her, than my father. Gotta fix this.

Just like other ethnicity groups, "Black does crack”; however, if we take care of ourselves, we will age gracefully and not necessarily look as old as some other ethnicity groups. I can think of a couple people that are African American that are not celebrities that have had multiple plastic surgeries. I’m not sure if people are just looking for a quick fix that might be able to be resolved with eating properly and exercising. #Be the best person that you can be

I ain't gonna cut my body heck no! I would make a push up bra and wear some makeup and some more stuff versus cutting stuff off. Screw self mutilation .But I did do some almay or whatever it was called for blemishes back in high school. My Idea of surgery is dying my hair with Koolaid and getting a second ear piercing ! And that was back in Highschool !

I don't do plastic surgery...but, sorry Jesus, I do need some, seriously....cheek bone reduction, bimaxillary protrusion correction, eye tear though filler or fat transfer, etc.

No plastic surgery for me well weight loss reconstruction surgery and I feel bad about that can't walk around with too much extra though it's a health risk, but you know other then that no plastic surgery my nose is huge but I would feel so fake if I got plastic surgery.
