We need to create food and land co-ops. Purchase land in mass, grow food and sell back to ourselves and market it to the wider world. Employ our own. Build our own housing developments.

FBA started doing that as soon as they were freed. All of our thriving communities have be burned down or flooded. The Tulsa race massacre was just recently determined justified by the Supreme Court because in the US FBA will never have the right to liberty, lofe or justice on this land as long as there are white people. If we are to ever experience freedom and liberty we will need to leave the US. Which is perfect because it has already been overthrown and the US greenback is quickly being replaced with BRICS.

My family never left the south, and they are fine. My family is from the Carolinas. If we were more united, we wouldn't have to move. I see how Latinos are thriving wherever they are. They work together and they support each other. Black people don't. They own very little. Maybe that's why unemployment is so high among black people. Integration was a waist because black people end up helping everyone else's economy. That has been detrimental to generational wealth.

Your message is phenomenal and I have always noticed how blacks don't care about each other. I love baby videos which can take you to orphanages and usually 3rd world countries. Then you see the poverty of people like Haiti or South Africa. It blows my mind how the moms in villages in dirt floor huts have a sick baby walking to the nearest medical office while hanging onto a toddlers hand and a couple more kids following and cars speed right by them. I'm white, live in a white community and there isn't a time someone wouldn't stop to see if she needed help.

@@jackjines3461When you make a statement asserting that Blacks don't care about our own people, you need to qualify that. What you are talking about is social engineering. How do you think Anton & many other videos can show once incredibly cohesive & thriving Black communities from shortly after slavery to the 1960's? This is because there has been an ongoing plan, carried out to destroy Black people, communities, families, individuals at every turn. The fight for desegregation was rerouted to integration for a reason. There has also been the recruitment of Blacks to work with & within the larger society at every level to undermine Black people from institutions of higher learning, employment, the Black church, music industry, Black organizations & those that have Black figureheads that are actually run by non-Blacks to our detriment. This is NOT done with any other group in the US 🇺🇲 to such an extensive level. Consider these issues before you make such blanket statements.

You are telling my family history - we migrated from MS to St. Louis and Chicago. Civil Rights were necessary but integration was NOT! Essentially we traded ownership for access. The ownership cemented the community - today there is no black community - just places where a lot of Black folks live. That's why the "dollar" doesn't circulate. There is no framework to capture the energy of commerce. Dr. Claude Anderson tells the story better than I can.

This is something I've been thinking about for some time. However, my family owns property in North Carolina -- not one of the states you cited. And, regarding Black American's fight for integration, it wasn't to be in proximity to whites, it was more about getting the same services as whites, (schools, medical treatment, etc.), for which Black tax dollars were being used. Research the facilities and services at Black vs white schools during the Jim Crow era. It was truly disgraceful.

This was 1999 - 2001. Property value, taxes, HOA and insurance is increasing in the South. It would take family and friends committed living together to survive the twist and turns of this economy. As countries move away from the dollar the privileges we've had will be less. Lived in Stone Mountain, Georgia for ten years now in Los Angeles. Things have changed massively since I left to see people working 2-3 jobs to make ends meet is jolting.

Yes. I am here in suburban Atlanta (Gwinnett County), and been in the metro 30 years. You are right, it is getting expensive here. I had some relatives from Miami visit me a couple of years ago and when they found out the cost of housing in my neighborhood, the response was "It's almost as bad here as it is in Miami". 7:52 I hear this often the whole, "The white man's ice is colder", "We didnt have to ride in the back of the bus argument" and I disagree. I think this ignores the maldistribution of resources that was taking place, and the poverty in Jim Crow Black America. In the case of the Montgomery bus boycott, that was a state bus built with everyone's money, it was not "their" bus, it was all of our bus. Also, I checked out the article you referenced, they built the safe bus because the other bus refused to come to their communities leaving Black people to walk long distances either to work or to the trains. To compare this situation to today is unfair. They built that out of necessity to an extent, today, these services exist, brought to us by people with access to much more capital then we have so its very hard to compete. Also, our media sources are totally colonized today with very few exceptions(endorsements, radio and television owned by white corporations), so these things are much more difficult to organize. My overall point is that "the white mans ice is colder" was way at the bottom of the list of push factors for integration. There was always way more to it then that, thats very minor and a symptom of social engineering.

The fact that the bm/ww marriage rate has increased 30 times since the Civil Rights Act was passed tells us what the real motivation was. And that figure only includes marriage. If we include non marital relationships, the increase is even more drastic. And then we would need to add in all relationships with women who are neither yte nor black.

It is not about where we are physically. It is more about where we are/what condition we are in spiritually, emotionally, and mentality. No matter where we are, we must stop letting a small minority of us, make things even worst for all of us. We systemically and structurally add to our already bad condition and position, in society as a group. We have yet to truly wake-up, nor be real with ourselves, as a group, despite the rhetoric, those who speak publicly, as if they represent all or most of us, propagate.

Great video. Charles Blow's argument is very intelligent. This is something that I've considered doing myself for decades. One issue that increasingly concerns me about the southern US are the climate change impacts. Coastal areas will increasingly experience hurricanes, while the entire region will face increasingly intense heatwaves and droughts. This is not to say that the idea of a reverse migration should not be considered, but we do need to critically and carefully assess risks and plan accordingly. Policies and infrastructure will have to evolve to face these (and other) challenges. A surge of tax revenue, political will, and energy from returnees might be helpful in countering these problems in the end.

Didn't we have communities that were predominately Black in places like NY (Harlem, Bed-stuy), where there were Black doctors, dentists, lawyers, and shop keepers? Didn't the opposition work to undermine those communities by restricting services like sanitation, street repair, and law enforcement? Didn't they also flood those communities with people know to have problems participating in normal society? Didn't they flood those communities with narcotics? It IS a great idea, but it is going to require a serious amount of planning. Mind you much of that planning will have to occur in secret (think Fearless Fund in the future), much like the way Brooklyn's Orthodoxy does things. What happens if no one will deliver goods to your supermarket, gas station, or hospital? I've already reverse migrated to the south, and I'd love to be part of such an endeavor, if it is done right.

I've visited both places since childhood & have no desire to live in either place now at 51. We even have acres of land, but can't develop because of aires property laws. Thousands ± of Black folks have reverse migrated since the 80's. My parents didn't vote, nor become involved politically. Which I'm sure Mr. Blow would love for the returnees.

In the documentary: "South to Black Power", New York Times journalist Charles Blow advocates for a reverse migration of Black Americans from the North, Midwest, and West back to the following 9 southern states where Blacks have large population percentages: (Louisiana: 32.8%, Mississippi: 37.8%, Alabama: 26.8%, Georgia: 33.1%, South Carolina: 26.3%, North Carolina: 22.2%, Maryland: 31.7%, Virginia: 20.0%, and Delaware: 23.8%) to amass state political power in order to gain control of governors’ offices, state legislatures, U.S. Senate seats, and electoral college votes. Writes Blow: "The proposition is simple. As many Black descendants of the Great Migration as possible should return to the South from which their ancestors fled. By concentrating their political power in key Southern cities (in 9 Southern states: Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia), Blow posits, Black Americans will be able to effect actual social change. "The mission begins with the states, which are the true centers of power in this country, and as such control the lion's share of the issues that bedevil Black lives: criminal justice, judicial processes, education, health care, economic opportunity, and assistance." (Charles M. Blow was born in Gibsland, Louisiana in 1970. He completed a bachelor’s degree with high honors in Mass Communications from HBCU Grambling State University and is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. He is a syndicated journalist with the New York Times and he reverse-migrated from New York and returned to the South in 2019 and now resides in Atlanta, Georgia).

I don't think that moving to the South in and of itself is the answer. Without structural institutions for employment, housing, education, and so on, I don't see how "moving" back to the South, would do anything to better the condition of Black People as a whole. Migration was largely due potential opportunities, especially in terms of income. If that type of opportunity cannot be generated, what would be the point? I have two brothers who own businesses. One does home improvement. The other does lawn care. They both do pretty well. Yet, when I was faced with unemployment and homelessness.... Neither offered to take me in nor give me employment. I have a MBA and a second Masters in Management, pending a third in Accounting. But they (my family) hired other people to do the same work they could allowed me to do. Moving to the South is not the answer. Changing the mindset and ending the division amongst Black People would seem to be a more logical and more effective strategy. If you do that, it doesn't matter where we move to. Like you, I am also very well traveled. In most cultures, FAMILY is the most important, most enriching, most influential, factor ensuring success, for both individuals and the family. We don't have that as much in the west. People have been moving to the South for decades. Atlanta, Houston, Charlotte have seen increases in Black Residency. However, the mindset of the people has not changed. Clearly, simply "moving" to the South would not be a solution if we still have no unity. Strength in numbers creates power/influence/wealth/ stability/prosperity. Until we can unify, any real ability to change, create, or control anything is limited at best.

Honestly, there's 4 strategies I would suggest BP do if we're serious. First, stop this gender war. The birth rate has significantly declined amongst BP, our numbers are growing, but our percentages are shrinking, we need more births. Second, stop alienating black immigrants, I come from an immigrant background. I think Black Americans have alienated some Black Immigrants over the last few years, BP need to better integrate Black Immigrants, it can strengthen BP politically. Third, fight to stay in cities, having BP in major cities allows us to punch above our weight politically. Lastly, look at states that have stagnant populations, and move there collectively. A migration of BP to these states would allow us to impose our will demographically if done strategically along with increased births, we could flip states to our political will easily, which is something I don't think will occurr in the south (minus a few exceptions).

Appreciate the thoughts outlined in this video presentation. IMO, there is a segment (a very large segment) in the south that do not have the mindset to capitalize on both political and economic power that has existed and continues to grow in the south. Too many are trained to be "slaves" to consumerism, trauma and low self-worth. This leads to a low-opinion and value that is shared in the black community as well as not having a social contract to support respect and growth.

Lots of black people, including me, are not going to move to the south. There are significant social and cultural differences, rampant poverty, and the effects of global warming will be significant in many parts of the SE. Why not start with a town. We can come up with enough investors to build or rehabilitate an existing municipality. We could build the new Black Wall Street and expand from there. I think this idea is horrible, and I wish it would stop being echoed. This is a very limited strategy, for one simple reason, everyone is moving south which cancels out any population gains by BP. The only real consequential states in the south are NC, GA, TX, and FL. Florida and TX are both populated with large Hispanic populations, and NC is becoming increasingly more diverse. Georgia is the state I think BP will be able to have the most impact in long-term. I just don't see demographically how a mass migration to the south for BP would be truly beneficial.

I’m not so sure that in modern times, concentrating the black population will work the same as it did many years ago. My father was born in 1920 and my mother in 1929. Back in those days, there were no supermarkets as they exist today. My mother spoke of how people used to go into a small local market, ask for chicken, and the clerk would go out back into the yard behind the store and kill a fresh chicken for that customer. Many people back in those times, especially down South, built their own homes and there were not all those building code regulations. My grandparents were born around 1900. Back then, black people often could not enter department stores unless accompanied by a white person or with a note indicating they were there to pick up something for a white person. There were hardly any cars or buses back in those days. And there certainly wasn’t Amazon or any such thing as online vendors. I am saying all this to say that I think that the conditions that led to the black communities of the past being somewhat self-sufficient don’t exist anymore or in the same way as in the past that Dr. Claud Anderson is speaking about. i think what is more important now in modern times is that the mindset has to change mire than the location. Adopt a vegan duet. a large amount of land is needed to raise cattle. Less land is needed to grow vegetables and grains. setting up online networks to connect businesses would be helpful. one big thing to change is the mindset to want the cheapest products. women will pay $3 for Suave haircare products rather than order from a black vendor charging more. But these same women will go spend $50+ to eat at a restaurant or go to a movie. That is to say, some services cannot be obtained within the black community. But even those that can be are often not chosen and the $$$ get spent elsewhere. PS I think something else that needs to be spoken about is marriage. Back during Claud Anderson’s time black people married. Now, there is no emphasis on marriage as the foundation to economic stability. When families are not stable, then you have single parents and even grandparents struggling to get and keep enough resources to raise children. If the goal is economic stability, the foundation of the family and marriage must be the first topic of discussion, not simply geographic location.

It would be great to have our own again. Upward mobility is necessary for success. However, everyone will not qualify. Too many of our people have the mindset that anything Yt is better. 😓

I already live in the south and see unpatriotism all of the time. So many black businesses fold because of this.

Let’s buy an island off the coast of British Columbia, but the rich and powerful Blacks would never be down to help with infrastructure It’s getting to crazy weather wise in the south for us to hitch to that horse

Thank you for this presentation. I’m on the west coast-‘family history from Black Wall Street. I want to travel. I’d like to have a Black community to support be a part of. I do not like that we are so separated from each other. I’m not elitest at all. I would feel good if a criminal mindset was not embraced in this special community. I am sure we’d have to work (assess ourselves truthfully)to get truth. Every group of people has to deal with the inefficacies of a group. We’re not cohesive but we can grow to become a healthier maybe even vibrant community. We have been through so much trauma, misinformation of our history, financial ripoffs, character assignations ,leaders assassinated , systemic abuse in medicine, finance, education, housing and control of our resources. We been through the theft of our language, art and land, constant attack on our peace and joy intentionally ;we have been set up to not trust each other. And we’re still standing for a reason. What the enemy meant for evil God can turn to good.

Black people already are. But why tell everyone else non Black? White separatist just move to the Pacific Northwest and mountain west without making a bunch of announcements on line. All of this was discussed on daytime talk shows in the 90s for both Black and white…now here we are…and some Blackfolks who act like they didn’t get the memo, feel the need to tell everybody else.
