Hi, tracked this down to make for a friend, and because I needed to play with my black gesso and sparkly paints again. . Have been off learning junk journals, and still in my atc swap. Has been 4 years now since I discovered mixed media and it's been so much fun learning it, and other crafts. You were a huge help to me in that first year or two!! Thanks!! 🤗
... you have a really great voice!! and mucho talent... I love the steampunk era!! Thanks for sharing all your great tips.. saves me alot of time and blunders, which seem to be unending sometimes.. lol. Those are truly beautiful tags. aaaammmmazing.
Really enjoyed watching this video. Beautiful tag!! Having only watched you for almost a year, I can tell you're more comfortable doing your videos now. I'm glad you stuck with it, as you're a very good teacher for those of us who're fairly new to mixed media.
Christine Tyers1 hour agoI loved your video and not too long at all, I am a beginner and just trying to get the confidence to start now I have most of what is needed and some "junk" too. It is always good for me to watch and learn, the longer the better and nooooooooooooo music.
Beautiful textured tag! The Ranger Craft Scrubbie (meant for hands) also works amazing for cleaning stencils. It will take dry acrylic paint off and I use it all the time to clean up my stencils.
Oh geez... that makes sense for the ranger scrubbie hahha.... I use it for stamps. It hasn't hurt them yet but I might get a second one to use for my stencils. Thanks so much!!
Very nice. Instead of use Gesso I use black chalk paint. Gives the same results and cheaper. For the modeling medium paste I mix dry wall mud with regular white glue
There are good reasons to use gesso... It gives tooth to the surface for paint and other materials to grab on to, and provides a barrier from the paper that will absorb paint. Black gesso is useful on dark projects to give look of full coverage vs. white specks possibly showing through.
Ridiculously gorgeous. I love processes and layers. I am actually going to try this! Thanks for sharing. btw, you are doing a great job don't be hard on yourself!!
I really enjoyed watching this video. I hope you are making more of these. I got your name from Keren so I started following you. Love what you do and thankyou for sharing your talent ❤️
Hi, coming back to do this again. I know my friend would love to have the one I've already made but cant bear to part with it, was my very first black gesso/waxes project. Hopefully you see this so you'll know how much you've helped me in learning mixed media ....has been 2 yrs now since I started , so thank you for your encouragement and reassurance I could do this! Stay safe! 😊
That was worth watching, just loved it, I am new to mixed media and I shall certainly take what I have learned from you and use it. Thank you. Shalmar x
I love this video. I am just getting into mixed media art. I am currently working on my first small project and if all goes well I will take on a larger project. I really enjoyed the step by step real time video. Thank you for taking the time to teach!
those are beautiful proyects. I love how it look only black that was so cute and when you ginidh it was stunning. It would look so cool if the frame move to a side and put a photo inside like a locket pendant buy in a tag .
I used E600 before in the hot sun and et set up instantly. Like an instant bond on a thin layer on a jewelry peace I made. So I think a heat gun or hair dryer would help set it up faster.
You do wonderful videos I am new to this craft stuff doing it to keep hands busy and found I'm not so bad at it. Thank you for your step by step process I understand all you did.
Awesome!!!! It is so funny because I always felt artsy and crafty growing up but I almost failed Art every year I took it but I loved it and when I would do the career tests in school it would always tell me I would do something in the arts..... until I picked up paper crafting I never really thought I was that artsy or anything because I let the grades in school define how I felt..... even though I still have lots to learn I enjoy it very much. I am glad you have found something you enjoy! Thank you so much for your kind words!
Tiffany, I'm loving it with just the flat black gesso. however, I'm waiting patiently to see what comes next! So often I wish for crafters, artist, etc living here in the Hudson Valley region of NY that want to get their craft on lol .That would be so cool having get-togethers sharing ideas and have a blast pulling out all the ideas that are packed tight in my head! The gothic look ticket that you made here is fabulous, I truly like the textures being so uniquely placed and then topped off with all the solid backSUGGESTION: you could think about NY and any questions that you may have I can do my best to assist you. I am a licensed real estate broker -At your service! lol relocating to NY could be an AWESOME thing. Perhaps your husband may know some things and that its all very info good lol*I have never used a private msg from here because I do not know how it works so I put up my epic msg but all to you and your talented creations.Thank you for sharing!
You are welcome! Glad you enjoyed it. There is new waxes that you can achieve this look even easier. I have a video on that too. I think some of it is sped through and some of it isnt. Thanks so much!
I love your work! You inspired me so much with this tag.I just finished cover for my journal in this style and I am so happy how it turns out :D Thank you so much for inspiration and amazing tutorial.
I saw your video a long time ago, loved it then I saw it again today. I was so happy to see it again so I'm going to give this a try and now I'm a new subbie :)
Wow this is absolutely amazing, you are very talented - you were recommended by Tmika in one of her videos so thought I'd come and see what you get up too and I so impressed thank you for the tutorial, you have a new subby :-)
Tiffany, absolutely loved this video! I learned so much. Please don't think you're not a great teacher, you are! Ok ,I just finished mine and would like to send a picture for you to see , how would I do it that?
Oh thank you so much! I needed a little pick me up today! Thank you so much for the kind words! You can email me at tiffanyspaperdesigns@gmail.com I can't wait to see!!!
I love this ! I'll start mine tmoro I think , big hello from new subbie from Liverpool in England :) , just a little note , take your camera off auto focus it won't keep going fuzzy and send eyes west all the time ;)))))) x
Your videos are fantastic! I wonder why they don't make embellishements with no finish. Most of the time we paint over them and I'm sure it would be cheaper.
I just finished mine and I love it!! Thank you for doing this video, I never would have thought myself capable of doing something like this. Now I'm thinking of doing a second one, but with different colors. Would stay with same metallic paints, but I'm thinking blues. I have light patina, mermaid real and deep waters. Any suggestion on what two to use? Could I finish with the steampunk copper, or you think a different color? Sorry so many questions, just a little excited 😁😁
Thank you!!! I know. I think next time I do a live class I will edit the video and speed up the process and just direct people to the live class recording if they prefer the long version. I personally like short to the point videos. Thanks so much!!!
Absolutely beautiful. Could you please tell me how you would protect a piece like this from household dust . Do you frame them behind glass or varnish. Kind regards Sandra xx
Hi this is the first video i have seen of yours. I love your project. However, I would do some editing for after the live recording. Thanks for sharing your idea
I've found that most of the people in the live audiences (regular viewers) want immediate access to videos after the 'live' in order to create their own versions of projects, so the channel owner doesn't get the opportunity to edit prior to posting ... unless they want to post multiple versions of the same video (some do). Recently, another artist/channel owner was commenting that nobody watches their videos when they go v long & I explained (like you) that while I enjoy watching long projects, when long vids are just unedited replays of a "live", it's not pleasant for viewers who were not in the live audience, to have to sit thru endless conversations that don't involve us & particularly hearing only 1 side of a conversation. with no clue what the presenter is answering ... It's almost like having dinner with somebody who spends the whole time on the phone to someone else ... That said - we don't pay for this & they owe us nothing.
I have a question . I have a gesso , what else basic stuff I need ? I want to know what are the basic mixed media . I love black gesso but is it okay to add black ink in the white gesso ?
Hello! I am so sorry I must have missed your question. I think gesso.... a canvas or something to create your work on...... some items to add to your canvas and paint or wax to add your colors I think are the very basics. I am unsure about the ink in the white gesso. I think maybe give it a try. If you do let me know how it works. Thanks so much!
I just display them on a shelf. You can always add some velcro command strips and hang them on the wall that way. I hope that helps. Thanks so much for watching!
Great piece but way too long of a vid...those big boring sections should just be cut out ...once we know what you’re doing, we don’t need 15 more minutes of it....but each to their own I guess....the end result was beautiful
I understand. This was a live stream so I can not edit the video. Also the video is almost 3 years old too. I have shorter videos if they are more to your liking. Thanks.
Why make a video when so obviously unprepared? I really don't want to watch a tutorial where the instructor keeps saying she can't remember what she did. Fine, then stop making a vid until you get your act together!! This made me want to throw my phone against the wall!!!
Tiffany!!! I absolutely ADORED watching your tutorial. Your techniques have most definitely inspired me to try some project of my own incorporating your ideas! I've been accumulating a lot of Prima products... so now to give it a shot. I love how you speak and present your instructions! You are so relaxing to listen to!! HUGS ~~SHARON
