@@connorcorwin05 I was just tryna be funny, thanks for the history lesson tho... but it also just sounds like another cop that's above the law and their abuse of power. So yeah, I'm sure he was pretty much unstoppable👮♂️🚔 🤣
@@kirkolmstedit is a street racing legend. If you watched the documentary youd know that and youd know thats why its so expensive, still too much for the car but still
Those who were in the scene at that time in Detroit have never heard of this "Black Ghost". A completely stock car would not be a legend on any street racing scene.
@@snowglyphs8767it is a bone stock. Besides those Africa stickers there's not a one single aftermarket mod on this car. However this car is absolutely beautiful. It is fully loaded Challenger and has every single option that Dodge had offered at the time. The story about this car is cool, but it is not accurate. Brand new, this was a mid-14's quarter mile car. At that time, there were few well documented true legends of a Woodward and 1967 Plymouth Belvedere GTX, which was known as King of Woodward or a Silver Bullet. Silver Bullet was 10 second car. It was purposely built drag race car, by the manufacturer. .Black Ghost wouldn't stand a chance against it....Silver Bullet was just one of the cars who ruled Woodward at the time when Black Ghost was supposedly blowing everybody out of the water. At that time there was around 20-25 10 second cars that were racing regularly on Woodward..we are talking real drag racing machines....with fiberglass front ends...drag racing slicks....sorry but this whole story is nothing more than one those feel good urban legends
@@snowglyphs8767it’s completely stock. The owner didn’t do anything to it and wasn’t a mechanic so he never modified it. Look up uncle Tony’s garage. He made a video about it.
@@snowglyphs8767Maybe you should read up on what a scam this was! It was a huge lie as part of viral marketing for a movie created by the same guy that just happened to be the son of the original owner.
@@milesthecoolbro I really appreciate that man. Just dont type anything on the internet that you wouldn't say to someone face to face. Especially if you are complete strangers.
Strange that no one around Detroit remembers this "unbeatable legend." It also seems extremely coincidental that Gregory Qualls, the son of this legendary car owner, is a cinematographer and VP of a film company. Look for the movie Black Ghost coming to a theater near you. 🤣🤣
@@MCamp I'm not disrespecting the dad but it was a completely stock challenger. Uncle Tony's Garage UTG in youtube , he knows Hemi cars , he went into this scam in detail. Car is rare no doubt but the black ghost crap is all nonsense
This was one of the biggest scams in recent memory. To outright lie about the street cred of this turd to force the price to a million bucks is criminal. It's not even in a good state of tune.
If u believe this stock car was a legit street racing legend that actually won a lot of races and was feared in Detroit 😂then I got a bridge to sell u in Brooklyn 😅
@@SonnyGTA I don't think much of anybody are believing these urban legends, there were cars in those days making 700+ HP 3200 lbs this car was nothing! Anybody that believes these BS stories have no idea what it was like in the mid to late 70s Woodward avenue or any street race scene this was a regular car! Black ghost? Why because its black and it disappeared when the 78 Honda prelude next to it hit the gas? Not car guys are dumb!
Extremely beautiful, unrestored and rare optioned car. Having said that, a 68/69 factory race hemi Dart or Duster would have slaughtered any E or B body dodge of that era. Even the heavier 68/69 Charger did the quarter mile in the high 13's. Having said that, the driver plays a big role in any race. I'm a big Dodge muscle car fan, but let's be completely truthful about this for a second! It is an extremely beautiful, rare optioned and unrestored car nonetheless! 👍👍👍
An old friend of mine told me of a friend he had who bought a brand new cobra from this time with a 4speed and a supercharger bc the guy was loaded. Man how crazy mean cars must've been before emissions
@andrewpereira2330 I don't care how you look at it. If you know the owner of it, set us up. I'll out run his heavy ass hemi challenger with a lighter weight 390 rambler. Mine just has a few little modifications. Damn, I'm giving up 36 cubes. That big old HEMI shouldn't have any worries, right?!
The story behind the car isn't true it's all made up the guys father never even claimed to be a street racer that story never came out until after he passed away it a stock hemi Challenger it would have never been able to hold it's own with street racers of the day the guy who owns it now is a film producer the statement on his website talks about how they create interesting and compelling stories it's all a lie
Forget the computer that old Mopar or old Chevy or ford's would smoke theses new cars any day carbonators are way better than computer any day easy to work on no money spent at the dealer. People must be loaded today with money I know I am not. New cars junk
It's definitely a gorgeous car but lot of people fell for the story so did I at first. It's just a made-up story to increase the value of the car. How could it have been a street racer with everything stock about it. The lies people tell for $ 975,000.
@@rubenestrada7095 back then all you needed was a bigass hemi my man. Was no turbos and prowchargers. 975.000 i was close on the price. All orig.matching number car. Lot of them hemi cars go for this without a story.
I hope I can meet this car in person I’m such a mopar fan and trying to build my legacy with my son in hopes that this car will help my son understand real power is better in a mopar lol
ahhh not sure of how real a legend this car was...it is a stock Challenger which puts it in the 14-15 second range in the 1/4...the streets have a lot faster and quicker cars now and back in the day...maybe a tall story of a very cool car but not a street legend they tried to make out to be...
If my dad gave me one like this .over my dead body and it would go to my son.i would have a couple museums waiting for him to try and sell it it would go directly to one of if anyone tried it.ha ha over my dead body God I love this hemi car woo hooooooo
I still can't believe that scam story got the car sold for about 1million. Some people have more money than brains. It's because of sh** like this that there are so many scammers. Something this public going through a world renound auction let it slide. They don't care if their getting their cut.
That's just how the run when they are cold.. I bet anyone after 15 minutes of it running it would idle a lot better.. Some people don't know anything about old cars and it shows. I'm only 41... But ive been working on cars since I was 7
Timing needs to be adjusted along with the carb, they are in warm weather when this was taken so its not cold. Starting under 40°F is a cold start and it's in the middle of a parking lot so it drove to that spot, wasn't pushed.
As far as the 2023 black ghost I think they should have numbered the cars and gave them black wheels with chrome center caps. Should have been offered in a manual also.
@@WALTERBROADDUS Because no one ever heard of it and it's a complety stock car that would've had it's doors blown off by anything modified, let alone the actual "known" street racers of the time. It's a b.s. story and everyone ate it up including Dodge and the idiot who paid a million dollars at auction for this thing.
Maybe a high 13 second car back in the day. It would have had it clocked cleaned by other street cars back then, especially in Detroit where the big 3 called home.
Nobody who claimed to love their father the way he did would have disobeyed his wishes and sold the car. Especially if it had the historical significance that he attributes to it. It is a very tastefully optioned car for sure.
Let's see it run vs any LS powered car with slicks, headers, and a mild cam...since it's such a legend, it should still be able to go. Tell them to prove that it "runs like a top". Lol
