Man I luv when Richard test drives a ride that he really likes. It brings the inner child in him and we all appreciate that a lot!

You nailed it. That's precisely what that car is about; a commuter/saloon/family car that lets you escape the drabness of the daily grind here and there. When you must be practical and perhaps can't really justify the sports car, this is what you get, and it's extremely well suited to the wide open roads of the US.

Purchased my 392 in Germany (US Auto Sales). Loved the Autobahn. Finding parking was sometimes difficult, but they have a lot of parking garages. I was surprised how many people would stare, roll down their window to hear it, or come up to me and ask about it. I had a grandpa (in the back seat of an SUV) stick his head out the window and yell at me in German. We were in a stahl (traffic jam) on the Autobahn. I said I don't speak German well, and he replied in English "hit the gas", so I revved it for him. Big smile on his face. I received quite a few looks and smiles. A couple behind me at a stop light kept pointing to the back of the car, leaning forward to see something. I thought they were trying to see my license plate, then realized they were trying to see what kind of car it was. Badges are blacked out, so they are hard to read on black paint.

I saw one of these a few years ago parked in someone's driveway in Kyoto Japan. I don't know how he got it in there. It looked comically huge.

This is the 1st review of this car I've seen where someone NEVER mashed on the gas. And after 5 mins of drive time Richard said, "I could learn to like this". So in essence, the car got better and better.

I see them all the time here in America, I tend to not realize that these cars are interesting to other people around the world. They are quite quintessentially American, big, noisy, fast, unrefined and absolutely fun to drive.

3:27 this...THIS is THE BEST description or analogy I have heard. I have been trying to describe this for years, and Hammond says it perfectly....Some cars you drive, you feel like youre in a box, some cars you drive feel like a perfectly fitting suit.

That startup....and the smile on Hamonds face....priceless

seen him in a transit yesterday, and the truck few days before that. My showroom is on the same estate as smallest cog and its cool to see him actually working and the sincerity of it all

No better sound then a big V8 mated to a big supercharger that combination of sounds is perfect 👌

I'm more marveled by the fact that he lives in a "castle" than what the car has to offer.

Dodge did exactly to the Charger what Camaro should have done. I've owned two Dodge Chargers. First was the V6 version. A completely practical family sedan. 8 speed transmission with still plenty of power and 32 mpg highway. Then traded it in for it's bigger brother, the R/T with the 5 speed slap shift and 375 horsepower. I LOVED it. Black with black leather seats and pearl additive to the paint gave it a fantastic stage presence. A very large car with an equally large blind spot behind the "C" post. But hey, you're only looking forward in a car like that. Watching Richard Hammond of all people get all giddy over a popular and cheap (relatively speaking) American muscle car is quite fantastic. Not only does he make the car look bigger, but so do the roads and other cars on the road in the UK. Somebody should take Richard and put him in a lifted Chevy Silverado 3500 LT 4x4 quad cab long bed dually that way we can have a proper conversation about ridiculously large vehicles.

I commute to work in my Chrysler 300 SRT, 6.4 500hp, in black, very similar but slightly more refined... feels great.

I like it when Hammond reviews vehicles. I love it when he gets into anything that's American. He has this way of digesting the intention behind the car's design, and revealing it to us in such a natural, and simple way. I never really understood why anyone would want a car like this. As simple as his explanation was, it really helped me understand what it's all about.

"But I haven't driven it yet..." I was WONDERING why there weren't any dents in it already...

I saw a dodge challenger parked outside a pizza restaurant in Sweden while i was omw to university, quite amazed how powerful it looks.

I knew it when he giggled at 0:46 before getting in the car he was super duper excited he not yet ready to be mature but even an old man can't contain his excitement near a hellcat.

Awesome to finally hear your thoughts on the Hellcat. Being in Florida, these are driven mostly by highway speeders & people who do donuts in parking lots.

Please give Clarkson and Mr Slow a chance for a drive. It would be interesting to know what they also think about the Charger

I see these things on a normal basis here in Canada. I actually saw one as a police cruiser in action and it is a absolute monster.

This car, in this spec, looks like an action hero. With a like this car, it does not matter what you do for work because you will be driving to your job with a smile on your face every time, even if you have to do carpool duty. Great video! Keep it up!

This is a GT, long traveling car with a stunning deep bassy V8, not a super loud v12 screams at 9000 rpm...not razor sharp break bones supercar with no space inside at al...l For long trips this car is amazing, probably I take the normal Charger/Challenger without the Widebody in UK.

I'm going to say something you might not realize. Because the engine creates so much talk, if you drive it sedately, you'll get amazing mileage on your commute. My mate had a Ford Mustang GT500 (662hp) and on his commute from the Detroit Suburbs to Ford Headquarters he could average (no BS) 36mpg. Part of it was the route he took and part of it was he never had to push the revs above 1,200. I have no doubt the Hellcat or the Chevy Corvette would pull similar numbers in the right conditions.

Richard is driving? How many weeks until the Charger is written off and Mike needs to buy a new daily?

To be fair, the commuter version of the Hellcat is the ScatPack. I love mine to bits and make an amazing daily. Its not boring, but it is civil enough to be that commuter. When you want to have fun its right there. It isnt too much to handle and its usable.

Hellcats are p.badass but those TA392s hold grip and handle tight in a way a big car like that feels like it shouldnt, absolute sweet spot in the trims offered imo

That black exterior with the saddle brown interior is absolutely beautiful.

This is what I love about my 14 E63S, lots of power, but not over the top and refined.

Very honest review. Made me want a hellcat for a daily😅 , whereas I never really wanted a hellcat to begin with.

Having owned two Chargers, I like the size. It's made for the American road...lots of room and lots of power.

Beautiful beast but cost a bomb in fuel. Guess you will not see many of these, on the UK roads.

The Hellcat Charger is definitely not the BEST “saloon” car in terms of quality, comfort, whatever. However, if you’re looking for a somewhat RELIABLE 700hp to daily drive and still not have spent an astronomical amount of money on a fancy European car with similar hp, I would say the Hellcat is definitely the way to go.

My thought with these cars is that they're meant more for eating up US interstates and highways than crammed European streets. The only exception would be the Autobahn.

I live in the UAE 🇦🇪 and these are everywhere and used by lots of people/expats as commuter cars - SRT, Hellcat, Demon, R/T, even the plain old Penastar V6 SXT.... somehow they don't look all that big and very similar size to a 5 series BMW or CL Merc... fun cars and well built like most of the Dodge line up these days. Can't quite imagine the fuel cost for one in the UK though! ..gas conversion anyone? 🤣

did this for 3 months in my hellcat redeye challenger. Drove 4 miles each way from home to work, a full tank of gas ran me about $120 usd in California, and I had to fill up twice a week. Still love my 'Cat but I now also love my motorcycle for that reason lol.

Legend has it, the last time someone tried to take a comb to Richard's hair, they were never seen again.

It had to be big and powerful to fit and move those movie theater seats. At least you don't need the booster with this one 😉

I’d love to see more of Hammond driving a 700hp car not set up for handling because there’s absolutely nothing that could ever go wrong there.

After a while, I always come back to see this video to see this beauty.

Our roads and such are just wider here in the states. To us it seems normal to have a car that size. Lol

I think he needs to drive it in sports mode to get the full reaction of the vehicle the tighter steering wheel etc.

The Hellcat was always intended as an "Executive HotRod", more car than someone who could afford it could use. Just a lot cheaper than any of the European supercars...
