I like how everyone in the comments are like omg they did a bad job, I could’ve done it myself, you could’ve done this at home, it takes this amount of people on one head, etc. The reason why is bc 1. Us black people have different hair texture 2. Korean hair salons aren’t experienced or educated with black women’s hair 3. You can’t criticize someone because they don’t know how to do black women’s hair. In America we’re exposed to a lot of things but maybe in Korea there not exposed frequently enough about Black Culture and our hair and on how to do it. Like think about it this way, say your Korean and you work at a hair salon right? So you’ve never dealt with different types of hair unless it’s like yours or similar. Black women’s hair is totally different, you’ve haven’t been taught or educated on how to do women’s hair of that texture. Like that’s like saying if someone to asked you how to build a ship and there is no blueprint how are you supposed to build the ship? Same goes for this situation if a hair stylist doesn’t know how to do that person’s hair how are going to expect them to know? Just think about it.
If that's the case then why are there some Korean salons that do African American women's hair perfectly. If someone calls themselves a true stylist they should learn and be able to do all hair types
Jo Jo Their are some people that may be experienced in doing African American women’s hair but if your talking about the majority there probably aren’t.
Here's an example of a Korean man who has researched and educated himself on how to do black hair and he did an amazing job. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PzPChzWEyE8.html
Jo Jo lol I saw that one and he did a really good job on her hair. Thank you for showing me that and I’m not arguing with you I was making a statement but thanks.
Exactly...they did just fine! Frankly, not sure I’m a fan of this trend! Because, I don’t know if people are doing it for the purpose of criticizing or educating. But, don’t come down on someone, if they aren’t familiar with working on that kind of hair...neither are a lot of salons in the US...hence why black people have their own salons...just like women usually go to a salon and men go to barbers. All in all, they didn’t do so bad, but I do wish it was styled a little more.
I actually applaud them for even agreeing to do our hair type...my experience in India is different...they straight out refuse, some say it nicely others don't!...well done guys!
They tried and they did it with politeness. I have curly hair, not as kinky as yours. But it always end up burned after salon treatment here in Japan 😂
I see in the Asian's salons it takes two to four persons to do a black woman's hair while in the black salon one person does the does of washing blowing drying and hotcombing curling and styling the hair
@@esiriscorner That is so true. We have the experience of handling our hair from very young doing our siblings and friends hair. My sister will press/ hot press our hair with an ironing come when we were in school and especially for weddings. It was one of the ways we bonded years ago. Now we all just go the salons 😂
God gave us a unique hair. Now people that talk bad about wearing wave whatever will know is not as easy as they think. We are proud of our hair but the struggle is very real.
Sometimes it’s soothing to let someone else do your hair even though they don’t have as much experience. Hair doesn’t define a persons character. Hair grows so there’s no reason why people should be so negative.
The end result looks like my blow dried I would've not paid 4 this. I think as stylist they should've at least looked up a video and educated themselves on natural black hair
Exactly my thought. Someone could have at least watched a 8 minute tutorial to better understand how to properly handle natural ethnic hair. I had to watch videos just to do my own hair.
They put a lot of effort in and it looks like a really nice blowdry, when I go to salons like that I bring my own flat iron because there's doesn't get hit enough at all that why it just looks like a blowout. but its look pretty on you I like it just doesn't look like a press. some of the comment are soo mean she looks beautiful in any hairstyle.
Also, I think the amount of new products for natural hair is amazing. If my mother had had Mielle Organics, she wouldn't have needed to relax my hair at the age of 12. They didn't have, for sure, the right products to detangle your hair. If they did, it would not have taken 3 combs and three people to detangle. It's sad they had to resort to heat to tame the hair. No, no, no! Education is everything. I learned how to do my own hair on RU-vid during COVID. I am now natural. Thank you, COVID. The only good thing the pandemic did! And no more heat for me! BTW, you have a gem of a husband for going through this with you!
2hrs is actually a fairly decent amount of time. For me doing my own hair from washing conditioning blow drying and straightening thats how long it takes me. However my hair be snatched lol
Not for nothing, but if you went to a different hairdresser that does ethnic hair and came out with you hair looking like that you would have had a fit. If they say they can do ethnic hair then they should train to do a better job.
Instead, you sit there and watch them cause all that heat damage by making several passes with a flat iron hoping it'll become straighter when it won't cause you didn't prep it properly, to begin with. A lot of those flat irons that they use don't get hot enough to effectively straighten hair so if possible bring your own or ensure they have one that can reach at least 390 degrees. In doing this hopefully, you can not only educate them on Afro-hair but more importantly you can keep the next black girl who goes there to get their hair done from going through what you did
They did a good job - it would be great if more people understood how to do black hair because if they don’t look after it properly it can break - you were very brave to go there. If it was me I would have been so nervous especially if it’s only their first/second time.
@@esiriscorner Thank you. I admire they perseverance. One thing is that they never say that they cannot, they always find a way and that is what I admire most about the Asian culture when it comes to doing black hair. 🤗
😅 I think I'd stick to afro if I ever were to go to a country where basically everyone has straight hair. It's easier. Box braids... Call it a day. They were a good spot about it though, bless their souls.
Did they use conditioner after they washed your hair.? Hair protection products? Always take your combs with you. 2 hours is normal enough time I think. Tell them what they should be doing if they look confused.
For their second time, really good job. Yo afro hair is intimidating sometimes( iv got a big afro too). Thats whole process they did still takes me aaaaaages, i really have to commit to washing my hair😂😂😂
You’re brave to go to a salon that hasn’t been recommended. Since they didn’t have a detangling brush they did the best they could with what they have and their limited levels experience. The brush they used did a fine job of detangling. The male stylist just was a bit full of himself and as most men in my experience, overly confident. It was the women stylists’ whose technique was better. Your “trying to help them by detangling your hair yourself” doesn’t help the process nor the stylist. It’s actually a strong signal of your displeasure and doesn’t bode well. Your husband was right to tell you to let them do their job. You can’t go in expecting a “silk press” on 4a texture by inexperienced Asian stylists. The man used several tools to detangling and blow out. From a comb, a round brush, a detangler, and another brush. His female assistant was consistent with the round brush. And her technique was on point. However, with training and more education to become culturally competent by discovering and learning new ethnic hair textures they could increase their profit margins as well as their expertise by diversifying their ethnic services. The round brush is used to provide body and volume for a bouncy blow out. That is why the finished look is fuller. When the male stylist used the paddle brush it straightened a bit more but his technique was insecure. The two females if left alone would have done a much better job. I saw that they were using the flat iron effectively with a couple of passes. A good heat protectant would allow for at least up to 4 passes of the iron gliding slowly not quick for a flatter sleeker and shinier look. 🧚🏽♀️ Also, a heat protectant on the hair, and a dry oil to seal moisture would have given shine. ✨And it would allow the flat iron to glide better. I didn’t see any leave-in conditioner. You do have to speak up. At the end of the day hair is hair and all is the same composition. Just genetically different textures from straight, wavy, and curl/coil patterns. They also didn’t have any curling irons that would have provided a shine and a lasting set especially to finish off the ends. I’m glad that you’re happy with it, but for the amount of time spent I feel it was basically a learning opportunity for them. I hope they didn’t charge full price! 😉 But at least the hair is clean, a bit swingy, and it’s a fun way to make a change once in a while to play with a straighter look going from Afro natural hair. If your want a sleeker look with versatility in twist outs, a quick hit of a 10 -15 minute texturizer done professionally would loosen the texture. It’s still a chemical and many “natural purists” will stay away. You’d have to be dedicated to bi-weekly deep conditioners and delicate care and trims. Otherwise Rock on with what God gave you! Two hours is about right for this stylist whose only doing Afro textured hair for the 2nd time in his experience. With more experience 1.5 hours is about right. It’s a lot of work. I expected your hair to come out in some version of this look: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NnHqKNbYzGI.html. The girl’s hair is a fine 4a with less volume than yours. She is not really a full 3c and has combination hair. I grew up in my Mom’s salon where we did EVERBODY! From bone straight Asian hair, to Caucasian to Latina and African American hair of all textures. We were truly diversified international unisex before the phrase was popular. We are from West Africa and I’m 3c. This was just my humble opinion on your video. There are Asians who can do our textured hair. My best hair results have been done by my Asian hairstylist in America. My Dominican and black stylists have sometimes damaged my hair that I got a big chop and grew my natural hair out and did it my self. Giving myself monthly trims and deep conditioning treatments, and stopped using flat irons and heating products too often. Mom retired and I went away to college but learned how to do my own and friends hair. My girlfriend has thick 4a natural hair and she wanted a straight style for a change. When my mom saw the results she was impressed with my technique. She thought I’d put in a relaxer lol! Same length as yours. Thank you so much for this video experience. You’re a cute couple. I’ve been watching a few of these videos where black women go in to Asian salons almost goading the inexperienced stylists to do Afro-textured hair perfectly the first time! That’s the only concern I have with such videos otherwise it brings me memories of my growing up with my sisters in Mom’s very diverse and popular salon! 🙏🏽🌷🧚🏽♀️✨🦋❤️
First and foremost, they need to condition her hair with a plastic wrap under a hairdryer before they rinse the conditioner out, and then blow dry her hair straight❤ and then they can do a proper silk press afterwards❤ black hair needs more moisture before you put heat to it❤
That's a mess ..I'm not a hair stylist but I could have done that..I wouldn't have paid them anything! This is just a press,no hair style and the press wasn't perfected at all! Beautiful lady though
Horrible natural bob. They didnt press it enough to make it look even. You can do that at home. Dont waste your money on that place again, you deserve better beautiful.
I like the way they all tried so hard and willingly...for only having done our type of hair only once before they did well...but of course more experience would have produced a more finished look
OMGOSH! When they put that purple towel on your head! BANG!!! Beautiful woman! Wow, you are a striking beauty. And you should absolutely 100000000% buy some sort of hair wrap, scarf, or whatever in that shade of purple, because that color was MADE for you!
They need hoter flat iron and hot blow dryer and a very wide tooth comb her hair is thick when they washed her hair a good condition let it set on the hair for about 20 minute and then start the process
Ask black girls around military bases where they get their hair done. this hairdresser tried but ... wayyyyyy to much heat. Sometimes its good to bring your own products too. Some say the shampoo and conditioners in Korea and China are too harsh. This is not bad though for his second time. Wow ... imagine if a qualified hairf=dresser from USA went there to do black girls hair ...
I always do this in my room myself, expected them to at least flatten it inwards at the tips since its softer after the process. Nice tho, they dont know much about black girls hair .3 stars cos they're nice
They don't know anything....they should just section, use a better comb, leave in conditioner, heat protectant, turn up heat too. Black hair is not that hard, need right tools and patience. Hair did not look good honestly.
@@esiriscorner True. I remembered in the video you asked and their say that you are the second person. Which meant that they did not Google black hair because they had the same struggles the second time and had to take the same steps all over again. Nice video by the way🤗
Did they use heat protectant. Also it is good to guide inexperienced hairstylist on what to do to minimise damage when dealing with black hair - and ensuring hair is wet to make detangling easier and reduce damage.

I’m sorry, but the sister needs rollers in her hair.❤ her hair is not done❤ Thank you for the love you’re giving her, but I wish more love was given to her hair as well. She needs rollers then her hair will be done.❤
That's not good. You could have done a better job on your own hair. That's very disappointing 😞. They can only improve if you identified the flaws. And there were 2 people working on your hair for 2 hours. Not acceptable in my opinion.
This is one of the worst attempts I've seen right next to those ones where they relax the hair against the person's will. Just wtf. I would have to walk out... then again I wouldn't be there in the first place who am I kidding lmao.
