Now, before any of you go straight to the comments and say "it's just a movie CGI": The “Interstellar” black hole was created using a new CGI rendering software that was based on theoretical equations provided by Kip Thorne and a group of researchers. Kip Thorne is a professor of theoretical physics emeritus at caltech, a noble laureate in physics, and also wrote several bestselling books about black holes as the executive producer AND the movie's science advisor. led to many ACTUAL scientific research papers being published on supermassive black holes in international journals.

The reason of one side being brighter than the other is because of the dopler effect:- The speed of the matter that is coming towards us is very fast and hence it also shines very brightly but, As it moves further from us , it appears slower and hence, Darker and less shiny. It is also because the light travels around the disk . Due to light being bent . The light over the event horizon is actually the plate behind the balck hole and it will appear slower as it travelling a further distance than being shown. When the light again.. exits the back side it appears faster but it is not faster because it travelling in the same speed but the transition from bigger distance to normal distance. Time is inversely proportional to speed(time = 1/S) (Bigger distance = More time) (More time = Slower speed) 'I would like to mention that it is travelling the same distance but its being bent' Same as it exits our front plate Since it has traveled constant distance but the light is being bent and gets slower from our perspective . (Please dont judge on my grammer, as i am still in school and i still have very limited knowledge. Most of this was based of my intuition)

Not only is the resolution one reason why they look different, but Interstellar also skips a few things like red/blue shift, doppler effect, etc. But these are very minor effects that affect the color and opacity of certain regions of the accretion disk and areas around the black hole. The camera also took the image without color, so the colors of the black hole were chosen by the team processing the black hole pictures. This means that the colors of the two black holes will not match up even with red and blue shift accounted for.
