As promised I'm back with the part 2. So many stories not enough time. Spanish children making break throughs, old Spanish women being racist and annoying ass roommates.
This video gives more details but don't forget to check out Black in Spain (Part 1) where I give an overview of my experiences in Spain. If you have any questions or comments, leave a comment.
Don't forget to subscribe and while you're at it, go take a peak at my other videos. And catch my new videos every Friday.

Omg, I lived in Andalucia (in Sevilla) as well back in 2013 for a semester. Best experience ever outside of dealing with my american counterparts as one of only two blk girls in our group. As you said Andalucians are mad chill and for the most part things tend to click with them in terms of race and other things you mentioned. Living in Korea is a entirely different monster for me. Not to say Spain is some type of racial utopia (cause it's not), but in comparison to here, it is. I just subscribed today and all of your videos are awesome. 잘했어요.^^

I think staring is a thing everywhere that is not diverse, because here in Nigeria every race and even black Americans or foreign blacks who do not live in Africa get stared at HEAVILY. But it’s not a racist thing, it’s more of a wow we’re having tourists in Nigeria hurray. But some people would always want to scam them in shops, hotels, restaurants it’s soo annoying 🙄

In Spain there are not strong stereotipes about black people, but "we" are hardly racist with Gypsy people and Romanian immigrants.... and you wil maybe find a classist disgusting racism directed to South-America people (sorry, poor English XD)

You just gave more information that i will consider the great possibility of hopefully going to 🇪🇸 spain sometime in the future just to relieve myself from the sensitive climate of racism here in America and to get to know how life is different being black or simply human in another part of the 🌎 world away from what i have always known as a life of existence here in 🇺🇸 America.once again you gave me a new fresh breath on life of the possibilities i can see in the future through education that will be my passport out of this country even as a middle aged brother in my 50s. Thank you

In Spain it is not a question of racism but of behavior. If you are African American you shouldn't have a problem but if you say you are Latin American yes, this is due to bad experiences due to the behavior of some Latinos (not all) "innocent para for the guilty

I think Spaniards are more welcoming and warm than the people from outside perceive them. Also, Spaniards receive a lot of racism in America (North and South) from people than never visited Spain, telling stories that happened 500 years ago. That's something that I perceive from Americans (continent). They care a lot for the race and they use it to categorize the people. Despite this, I cannot say there is no racism in Spain. There is always room for improvement, especially in younger people, to not associate social status with a skin tone

Racism exists in Spain. Some older people are racist against "black" people (most of them are ilegal immigrants), arabs/muslims (the historical invasion), gipsies (they have different costumes, some spanish people don't consider them "very spainish") and romanians (they are postrayed as poor and thieves). The easiest way of watching a racist scene in Spain is going to the doctor. Some old people complaining out loud to themselves about how "satured the health system is because of immigrants". The second easiest way of listening to racist comments is watching us talking about job. We are on a economical crisis, so, the idea of "immigrants are stealing my job" increased.

Hey! Last summer I travelled to Germany and Amsterdam and had a blast with my buddy. This summer I sporadically booked a trip to Barcelona and although my friend will be coming with me this summer, it will be 5 days after my arrival. I was wondering how receptive Spainish people (outside of Andalusia) were receptive to Black people, especially those with an "American" accent. I plan on being in Barcelona, Madrid, Ibiza and maybe now Andalusia (because of how great you've made it seem). Just wanted some feedback on these places and how locals tend to be with black foreigners from America? p.s: I know everyone is diff and each interaction depends on who you meet and where you meet them ;)

Nice to see you've had a good experience here. I think that's because you have been lucky and also, yo seem to be a extremely open minded person, the kind of person that don't divide the world into black/white, male/female, contrymen/foreigners and so on. So, you get yourself welcome in a natural way. Of course, at first sight most of us tend to think of you as a black person in my opinion (I hate the word "Afroamerican"; in my language it implies that you think there's something wrong about being a black person), but more often than not, we think about it as a sheer feature, just as being blod, tall or brown-eyed. As we listen to you, we think about the person who is talking : "well, she has something interesting to tell, she has a good point about the place I live in, etc). But there's something about these comments tha haunts me: the only comments I see arond coming from American people are from black (or different shades of black) people. Where are the rest of your countryfellows? She has something interesting to tell you about the country. None of you has nothing to say or to ask? I'd be pleased if someone could explain that fact to me, because I am really curious about it. Thanks.

Love to hear about your experience in Spain. Im from the north, from the basque country, but living in Madrid. The only thing I dont understand yet is the different perception about racism in Spain and the US. You think in US people are more racist than spaniards?
@teegraciela1065
@teegraciela1065 8 лет назад
+Adrian San Roman I think there are prejudices everywhere. As a whole I had a great time in Spain. I know others less fortunate. No guns in Spain = no racial motivated violence. There's a ton of prejudices against Latin Americans, "gitanos" and Muslims. Nowhere is perfect but I enjoyed being black in Spain more so than being black in America. Not having a community that understands me was stressful though. Always being the only black girl, always having to speak for all black Americans. It was tiring at times.
