Your comments regarding conversion quality are greatly valued given your background. I like that this is a straight up line level converter, it’s perfect for outboard pre’s and synths on the inputs. There are surprisingly limited options for ADAT connectivity especially at this price point, thanks for your review on this, Doug!
Have you compared it to anything? I have an Apogee symphony desktop so I was considering the Exp. All I'm concerned about is converter quality. I also have the Revolution 2x2.
@@VallyTheHitman Like Doug said they are very good quality!. I have used them for mixing and mastering. I used to have a Burl b2 AD, and except for saturation it's very clean. I am considering a neve 542 stereo pair before going back in the box or Tubedrive by singular Audio
thanks for this video man i been waiting on a video on this for a while now. you are the first to make a video on it since it been out cause it aint much info on it but i'm glad this helped i'm bout to buy me one.
I sold my old Big Ben - now I have a new clock and additional I/O in the 1U rack space. I did have some issues syncing the word clock on my Presonus interface but figured it out. I think it is a good buy.
I have an RME and was going to use it to clock the black lion exp, but from listening to you I’m wondering if it’s better to clock from the black lion. Which way round do you think is best?
Hi thanks for the video, do you have any experience with the ferrofish pulse 16? I’m torn between the 2 and would really like the extra 8 IO since it’s only 200 more. Will be pairing with an RME interface so not sure if the clock is beneficial as much for me.
Thanks for the vid. I picked up one of these over a month ago set as the master clock along side the clarett+ 8pre. It certainly does make a difference. Low end is more pronounced and soundstage is cleaner. Instruments and other elements seem more separated with clarity. I don't know how black lion did it at this price point. I will no doubt be picking up another as I've already maxed out the ins and outs. I also think it's time to upgrade my monitors to get the most out of the EXP Revolution.
Thanks for sharing. Awesome to hear you heard the difference it has a very clear image in the video the word pristine made sense :). The clock definitely makes a difference.
@@DougJenkins Just checking in on your experiences with the interface. Have you clipped anything going in? I've been clipping this interface and it actually sounds really good. It does a great job depending what kind of tracks you run through it.
Great video... Quick question, I'm running a ID44mkII by audient, should I get the EVO 16 to run adat in/out so I can also use it for summing out the box plus having 8 extra mic pres or get this blacklion for summing and worry about the extra mic pres later?
Whats up man. Fusion neves mid side. Got some 3as. Rupert master bus processor. Maag eq. 10m clock antelope amari pure 2 and black lion convertors. Sounding good over here :)
Thanks for this! I want to use the Revolution EXP's DAC. How can I control the monitoring without compromising the DAC I'm hearing? I have it routed correctly but I am used to controlling my volume from a Central Station at my desk. Help please!!
Okay so for me it's between this and the ferrofish pulse 16. I have an rme ucx II which only has one in and out adat so I can only use eight channels if I go with the ferrofish. I do like that it has a headphone jack on the ferrofish over the black lion but it's unclear whether it'll be usable. The black lion is just enough but it doesn't have a matrix I'd have to use total mix for routing...which one should I grab? 🤔
@@apextraxx2903 i really love the sound of the black lion. The ferrofish i have not heard. But the black lion has done great for me for the money its really good
@@DougJenkins 👌🏾 bet appreciate the response. Good timing too I just resumed my research on the two. One more question though, I don't know if you heard the Rme But it has really good clocking and low jitter, the black lion advertises that their clocking is really good too, Which do you think would be better for master clock?
I finally purchased the Revo.Exp. My issue is that when I insert more than one hardware insert, only one is audible. I'm using Pro Tools, if that helps. I was connected through BNC, but the Clarett has an output clock, and I'm not sure if that was helping. Then I got some noisy feedback, so I unplugged the clock and switched back and forth between Macro-MMC and ADAT. I'm also at 48kHz. Other than that, the quality is excellent. Any help would be grateful.
I just got my unit yesterday i had a question so im using this to connect to my apogee symphony desktop. Adat optical for somereason manul says i just need q cable but it doesnt work signal wont go through what is your advice
