The one with the avocado is such a warrior. But all it’s hardship has really helped it have great character already. I also agree that bonsai is calming. I got involved when in a high stress job and it was the only thing to relax me.
I have been looking into bonsai for several days lately and thinking I might try it out. A side note my entire side yard is FULL of smaller locust trees. Honestly they are a real pest when mowing the yard at the edge lol. It is like natures torture device... also the thorns come off and often find their way into the mower tires. Maybe it would be a bit poetic to have to spend lots of time training it lol.
Thanks for commenting my friend. I have a love/hate relationship with locusts too. Lol. If you are just getting started i would suggest a wide variety of cold hardy, mild temperate, and tropicals to see what you prefer. The locusts are a great version of "cold tropical"... Butthe have definitely stabbed me when mowing as well 😥🍺🍺cheers my frienf
The ex-marine doing bonsai back story is really interesting. You would do very well on TikTok I think. Anyways, the first one has some evil thorns! The floater has some amazing movement, you’re right - couldn’t remake that.
How do they do in containers? I’m wondering if there’s a high survival rate versus trying to bonsai it? Also if you don’t mind I want to propagate a stem cutting but I’m going to take a thick stem with branches and root it. Is this all possible?
