Proud Anishinabe First Nation from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada Blessing to all our brothers and sisters worldwide. Keep smudging dancing and singing 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Im from Brazil. when listening this song; my heart burns feeling the calling of my past lifes between my brothers; the native americans. thank you for this gift
I sing this every morning for the respect and love for my friends, family, and everytime after I sing this I feel so relieved and proud. The First Nation!!
Naiomi Williams i can relate. My son will be 2 in three months and he goes hard to our pow wow jams! Its so cute. He just jumps up and down and always plugs one ear and yells around 😂
This song just shows how different Black Lodge Singers are. I know that there are southern, and northern singers. But this group is just very different from what I have ever heard before. I do mostly listen to northern singers. Like Northern Cree, but I'll occasionally listen to other stuff.
Huge fan of Black Lodge. Agree with your comment about the southern and northern singers are good, but I think Black Lodge has developed a lot higher level of synthesis. I can't remember if it was a powwow at either Alexis or Enoch reserve that I saw them. My mum is a huge fan of Pipe Stone Creek. Northern Cree is pretty awesome too.
I've been looking for one from Old Greyhorse called Buckleberry Shawl. I heard it on Powwow Radio 10 or so years ago, but haven't had any luck finding it online.
I'm not Native American but I really really love this song and I love the northern tribes the way they sing and I live in Oklahoma so this is a blessing
I don't live in far north, but the northern tier of the states --IN-- and I love Black Lodge Singers and Northern Cree. Whenever we have our smallish powwows around here, I can't wait for northern style. My favorite to dance to.
i love my culture every time tries to bring me down for being brown i just listen to my music i wish we could all get along and but our hate aside and learn from each other
+ Native people(then & now) are looked upon with great admiration by many. Unfortunate for those who unwisely choose not to cope with their feeling's of sadness and dejection towards past dealings.
SalmonCreek'916 If you believe that, you're mistaken. Natives have always been looked down upon by certain people since they came across the seas to massacre us. Just look at what they did and are doing with the DAPL.
I understand all that. Chose to put it glass half full. Always a different view from your side of the river...especially when your so far away from me.
If you ever get a chance to see the dancers competing while the Crow Hop song is being sung by one of the drum groups, you will never forget it! Thank you for sharing.. The dancers must maintain their rhythm with the beat of the drum. The drum represents our hearts and the beat of life.
I called to war, against a unpeaceful thing, I called to war, I messaging all places, to say, I called to war against a unpeaceful thing. Weapons in spirit are fashioned. I called to war against any unpeaceful thing, less they are just in there unrest, and even maybe, restore peace to them that it has been taken from I called to war,
Everyday I work out listening to Black Lodge Singer and Northern Cree. So far I've lost 40lbs. I'm the most inspired to work out when I listen to them because I'm also a dancer so the music speaks to my heart and just get's me motivated.
I wish I was fluent in my native language. I only know a few words and phrases from my mother passing them down and teaching me. I don’t know what they are singing mostly but I can feel it in my heart. I can feel the music going thru my body.
I heard them at a Pow Wow on the Salt River Rez.... I stood by their tent as they sang the Flag song.... I felt the beat of the drum inside me. It was awesome! =)
I stood by their tent at the one of the pow-wows in Valley. That was amazing just to experience the beating of drum beated with my heart at the sametime. That awesome!
i found this song about two years ago, and have been in love with it, ever since. i, myself, am not first nation but am fascinated with the culture and the music. this song always lifts my spirits and makes me dance.
My late sister passed in 2020 and this was her favorite song lol she would dance around the house and always stopped on beat at the end and then she'd burst out laughing lmao i miss her so much. Rest in peace Ashton Lorraine Desjarlais
I find these traditional dances and songs evoke a sense of primal understanding. I am predominately Celtic myself, and I have found many similarities within the 2 cultures, much of the knowledge in regards to the cycle of life, and respect for nature. We should all honor our ancestors and people that have given up their freedoms or lives to preservation
My favorite powwow song. It always makes me remember standing in a sunny field in the warm July wind, drinking sassafras tea and hearing the dancers’ outfits jingling.
theres nothing better than being right there at the drum feeling the beat on your heart.. its just so unexplainable... takes you to another place :). NATIVE PRIDE!!
