Sorry being at home for 2 months is finally getting to me but yes glad to see some positive feed back...that was something my grandmother always said to me and my brother
Powwows are newer in the culture, not everybody sings this way. Consider the female backups, that is really new. And some drums still won't use female backups. Women still aren't allowed to touch the drum, or sit at drum. In fact, some people hated me for recording Young Spirit back then! But in 2013, Young Spirit become champions at Gathering Of Nations, and at San Manuel Powwow. These are 2 biggest contest powwows in the world. After that, Young Spirit was recording at Canyon Records studios in Phoenix.
I'm Mexican. I respect and honor Native American culture. Their songs move me and raise my consciousness. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and frequencies. May your sun be bright.🪶
❤ Likewse to you and your Family. I found a lot of Strength in these songs myself ,I'm not Native However live In a Dominion of Primarily Native Culture and have found it very Fasinateing .
My biggest regret is that we didn't stay longer. I know from watching live stream that these things can get looong. I don't care. I would've stayed for the entire thing if given the chance. 😅
Because it is a heartbeat. The drum represents the heart of the earth connecting all of us to our mother and reminds us of our calling and where we belong and where will go
Descendant of the Guamare tribe(really proud of being descended from this group becuase they fought the Spanish, who conquered Mexico, until the Spanish GAVE UP and bribed them to make "peace"), Popoloca, and other tribe in Mexico ;) And my maternal great-great-great grandfather was from Spain. Otherwise, full Native.
@@brendandegal9980In 1847, the darkest year of our Famine, the Choctaw Nation, who had just experienced the horrors of the Trail of Tears themselves, heard about the suffering of the people in Ireland and despite being almost destitute themselves sent the equivalent now of $5000 in aid to Ireland to relieve the suffering of the Famine.

@@frankcastle9691 Thousands of years of culture and stories passed down from generation to generation is barbaric? I am white but I live in Canada ans respect the ancestry and the fact these lands were held by indigenous peoples for thousands of years. Vikings and other ancient cultures held similar routines in their worship of the gods. Perhaps the only barbaric thing here is you because you can't picture yourself in someone else's shoes or imagine that things are different with other cultures. Educate yourself
Garic Littlewolfe I have a small percentage according to a DNA study my son gave me as a present , now I know why I get absorbed by the originals of this land and others ..... respect to this proud people
@@GHXSTEYEZ what are you talking about? The indigenous people have always had a very complex social structure driven by community politics and understandings. What you're saying comes from a very sad limited understanding. Do you research, and no Google and white history isn't factual. That's the history from a colonial perspective.
@redman3307 absolutely. This country owes a great gratitude to The Nations. The idea of Confederation and State ideals. Our structure in part is owed to 6 Nations/ Haudenosaunee
Dude! SAME!!! What’s up with that? I don’t know why I cry honestly. But it’s so powerful and moving I admire the culture and music and just everything 💗
A Native friend of mine told me to play Pow Wow music for my 2 month old to help him sleep, and he loved it!! I can't believe it, he's asleep, the dog's asleep 😅 everybody is calm. I've always loved the Native culture, people, and music and now my son will too ❤ thanks for sharing this beautiful song!!
@Michael Thorne Sorry to hear about your experiences. This was a systematic attempt to destroy the native culture by church and provincial and national corporations masquerading as your governments. The people who carried out these crimes nothing more than evil monsters.
I get emotional every time i hear this. My great aunt always brought me to local powwows as a child and always reminded me to cherish my heritage and after years of not hearing this and during a time of turmoil, it feels so uplifting to hear this beautiful celebration and love of our culture.
@@erikavaldivia5279 if he has to explain it to you, then you're light years away from being able to understand it. You need a lot of healing. I hope you find it.
I never knew why but I cry every time I hear the drums, the voices of my people, and seeing them so beautifully adorned with pride of who they are. it’s almost like a choked sob of appreciation and longing. My spirit leaps as I see them. my eyes fill with emotion I can’t explain. It’s overwhelming but I am proud of my people. Miigwech! I come back to this comment as it’s at 222 likes. i would like to share my appreciation to anyone enjoying the sound of this music. I am a proud Ojibwa, and I hope whoever sees this. Native or Not, feels the comfort I do. May you all be blessed and protected.
I'm a caucasian man who lives in Minnesota. During orientation for college, the school board did an official acknowledgement of Native American history and the importance of the land to the Indigenous people. Before the acknowledgement, they had a drumming group come out and play some of the most powerful music I've ever heard. I can't stress enough how awesome it was to see and hear. It's hard to put into words how inspiring it was. It makes me wish I learned more about Native American cultures (in a way that's not appropriating or fetishizing them). Such powerful voices must not be silenced. Also, I'd like to appologize if I came across as too self-righteous or uninformed. I really like the drumming and I want to be respectful.
Appropriation occurs when you try to make our traditions/culture anther persons religion. leave the practices where they are. and always give respect to where they originate. literally any man can dance or sing at these. the main thing will always be Respect and reverence. but no actual Native American would oust you for dawning regalia and such for educational reasons or to just be at one with the tradition. (By *actual Native American* I mean one that goes to ceremonies and knows the culture with stories. City natives love to preach on but never actually do anything remotely close to traditions. most often times they get stories wrong and a lot of the rules would be wrong to in addition to not speaking.)
I'm crying, I feel like I've never felt this intimate with music, I feel endlessly attached, this is insanely liberating. I'm Native American myself but I grew up with a very white group of people, surrounded by everything and everyone white, and never got the chance to connect with my roots, my ancestors and my back stories. As a kid I felt so different from all my white friends, they feel differently, they see differently and most of all they don't get confronted with the rooted pain we all carry with us every day. From the woman I am today, I've never been more proud to be part of this indigenous culture. I admire it, the soul connection is so vivid and clear for me. This journey of getting to know who I really am, and where I come from just started, but I can't wait when it will step by step complete me, because it's saving me and I will never stop learning, connecting deeply with my beautiful culture and passing it to all the lives I may bring on this momma earth. ❤
Most Mexicans are Native American too. We were all brothers before the Europeans imposed their languages on us and separated our tribes with their borders.
Something about seeing natives proudly and beautifully singing brings me to freaking tears. The tradition behind it, the fact that these songs were nearly taken from them permanently, and yet they persevered and generations later are still singing those songs. Man, it genuinely makes me involuntarily sob. It’s so beautiful for so many reasons
I am not of Native descent but of Irish descent but hearing things like this, it's the drums and the beautiful sounds of this group. I don't know how to explain it but it makes me feel a certain way that no other music can. I guess the best I can put it is it makes me feel powerful but at peace at the same time.
I am Tongan which is Polynesian i always admired the Native American people and always thought Polynesians islanders and native Americans to be close to each other as cultures but I love this thank you 🙏
@@benevolentantichrist60 I'm Filipino from Philippines, but sometimes we Filipinos are sometimes mistaken as Natives of America, since we have brown tanned skin and black hair almost look dark brown 😍😄
I am not Native American...however I was born and raised in Arizona where I still reside after some years in Wisconsin. It is an honor to experience Native Ameeican music. Especially songs sang at Pow Wows with a single drum. This specific video of Young Spirit just blows my mind. I discovered and listened to this style of music during a session of Psilocybin containing mushrooms, and it changed my life forever. This music, for some reason, motivates me to try and be a better person everyday...
I don't understand the language, but I feel my heart vibrating with these people, these sounds are powerful, meaningful. Long life to native indians, respect.
I'm a Filipino and oh, do I love Native American culture! It's absolutely fascinating to learn about the history and traditions of the First Nations people, I have big respects for them and I would love to keep learning more about such a wonderful culture 💖💖
I've always loved the native Indian culture and their beautiful music and art work.. One of the most beautiful things I've ever witnessed was a live indian pow wow when I was younger. My mom and myself and her side of the family are known to have Cherokee Indian in her family. I am proud to know I am part of my family's Native culture.
As a scandi-Saxon-scot with 3 great grandparents who were shawanwaki, thank you for this ❤ We all descend from tribal groups of people who sang and danced to the earth and the spirits of their peoples, I think this is why this moves so many, because the native Americans have managed to keep this purity of spirit and their communal traditions alive in some ways, and I think that resonates so deeply with the human spirit. I love you all
Wow 3 million views!!! That’s my family and my cousin in the red shirt with the braids no hat!!! Love you BUG!! I hope to see you guys and the family again!
I'm African American I dedicate this to my ancestors. My great grandmother was heave cheeriky. That's what my mom said. But thanks for the video. God bless Fuck Donald Trump
I’m a white guy from Michigan and learning about native tribes from all corners of the country because of the deep respect and adoration I have for the people. Hearing this, is absolutely beautiful and as any song that drums like the beat of the earth, you can feel the soul of those from past and present, and lastly, to any native, with every ounce of respect and love to you 🙏🏻
As a guy from Europe I often think about how amazing it would be if Native American culture would have been more integrated into contemporary American culture. Imagine the Basketball World Cup and LeBron James leads a Pow Wow to intimidate the opponents like the Haka, or feathers in your hair were something you'd see everywhere similar to Maori tatoos. It would be incredible! I wish Americans would cherish their history more.
I am not native Canadian or First Nations but the soul in this beautiful music bring me to tears thank you young spirit for this song and the light and energy of your music is awe inspiring it’s always a joy to watch
Y u can’t stop watching this because Maori are native relatives of Native American Indians its in your blood and history and ancestors millions of years ago you r our family welcome u to our indigenous aboriginal culture of America’s
Came across this while driving, not sure what it is that does it for many of us but hearing it starts making my eyes cry and my chest heavy, amazing passion and energy flowing through those beats and chants
The whispers of a beating drum that summon our ancestors to join in a gathering of spirits to connect with our deepest roots through the perfect harmony of a beating drum which resonates over the mountains and through every soul
Holy shit I did not expect to cry, this is so fucking awesome and beautiful ❤️❤️❤️ I’m Mexican and both of my grandparents are in touch with their native roots and it’s just so beautiful 💘
@@erikavaldivia5279 trolling is funny when you do it right and have actual jokes in it. It’s unfunny when all you do is straight attack someone with no joke or insult involved because at that point it’s just disrespectful not only to the person but to something sacred to a whole community. It’s disrespectful and horrible to do in the first place but at least *try* to make it funny.
The minute I watched this video,I became a Young Spirit fan, I'm Mexican from California, and everytime I listen to the sound of the Drum it gives me joy and makes me wanna dance to it, lots of respect for the Original Nations of Canada and the US, thank you Young Spirit for making my days soothing with your songs, specially during this pandemic, much love and respect for you.
There is nothing but love for our brown brothers to the south. We shared this land before the Europeans came. The Aztec’s and other Mexican Native Tribes. We didn’t take, take, take from this land. We shared it with our fellow brothers and sisters. One love ❤️
I can't even describe how happy and proud I am to know that you're still here, and will remain here forever. You are the salt of the earth, love and blessings from Syria 🇸🇾
Im black and I've been soo intrigued by the Native Culture since I was a child from one of my first school trips to learn about this cultures history. Its on my bucket list to attend a Pow Wow .. Love this culture, something so beautiful about the energy in the room whenever they sing like this... you feel so at peace its different.
I admit, I am a descendent of the colonists. I am eternally remorseful for their actions and grateful for the honour to be accepted in the honouring of a beautiful and diverse group of cultures and identities. We need more of your voices to lead our people, and especially our youth. Please be that leadership ❤

Luego de que los estadounidenses los masacraran, hoy portan la bandera de USA, por qué? El Imperio Español protegió a los nativos, por esto en Iberoamérica somos mestizos, y allí solo hay blancos y reductos nativos aislados.
I am Mexican but I cried when I watched this. I see cousins, brothers, sisters, uncle's & aunties within those faces. we are the same people conquered a different European Nation. Much love to my family in the North on turtle island. we didn't cross the border the border crossed us!!
Gelato Musica Part of your comment ("I see cousins, brothers, sisters, uncles & aunties within those faces") just got to me so hard, my throat's seriously clogged up with tears right now.
I'm native American and there basically talking to our grandfather and our ancestors about what they have done for our freedom❤ikr this is beautiful☺My dads dad pasted this down to him and my dad did this.I playing on be the dancer

I'm not Native, I'm a white Christian, but this music is so powerful and beautiful it speaks to my soul. I have been blessed to attend powwow with 4 different nations and its such a special experience every time. I'm hoping to attend a Lakota powwow before the great creator calls me home. I'm actually a descendant of custer, and I want to walk in the greasey grass where the Lakota Warriors served him his karma.
I come from Indonesia..Half Chinese half Indonesian(Javanese-Sundanese)..And since my childhood..I love Native American especially the great plains culture.. Greeting from Indonesia... Omg brings back a lot of memories when Brooklyn NY every year had pow wows the energy coming from the songs and dance and if you had any pain you would feel the healing and had gotten up to dance alongside.
