Nobody forces anyonevto take drugs. I'm a recovering addict, ruined alot of my life. But, when you get clean you can come back from anything. Its never too late guys. Get the shit out of your system first, then take steps to rebuild your life. Once that first step is conquered, the rest comes pretty easy and mentally you're actually better off 'cause we can appreciate the small stuff, life being free rather than in and out of jailcells or the graveyard. The LACK of Jobs and opportunities are the real problem . Working at the factory barely getting by IS NOT what I would call a success. You own a home , vehicle, and your still 1 paycheck away from being homeless.

A personal account of the impact of crack upon South Florida in the 80's: I lived in Key West, Fl. from '79-'89. Sometime around 1983-4, the island was devastated by crack. I was approximately 10 years old, and for the next 2 years at least, the neighborhoods around us turned into crack houses, dens, prostitution skyrocketed, and bodies were literally being found every single night somewhere. (All except the most affluent neighborhood of all, of course) Even at 10ish years old, it was obvious that something drastic was happening there. People who had good jobs (one lady, a hotel manager of the La Concha a famous hotel in old town, became a crackhead in a matter of a month or two. I watched her odd behavior, as I was friends with her kids. And, there were scores more good folks destroyed by that stuff.) One incident was a whole trailer park (normally not a big deal or upscale business, in the Keys real estate was so expensive, it was actually used by upper middle class families.) It was completely gutted by crack. It was called Pearl Trailer Court, and i remember hearing that the owner's literally abandoned the whole place, that's how bad and dangerous even walking through there was. I was admonished many times to stay away by my parents, of course l didn't always listen, and one of the rare occasions that I cut through this area to get to a pizza shop on other side, i was propositioned by 3 prostitutes in one single walk through there. I was probably 11-12 years old at that time. (Picky People's Pizza was the pizza joint, right off US1, the only highway in or out of the keys to this day.) That's how desperate these people were. I remember reading a newspaper article at the cafeteria in school that said crack could kill you with one hit, the kid sitting next to me said "that ain't true, I've tried it." Another agreed. I think I was in 5th or 6th grade. No joke. Within about 2-3 years, the whole situation had gone back to more normal. But, there were still some places I didn't go to even in '89 when i moved away. The cops were in on it, the local government was involved, everyone (adults) seemed to be in some way or other quite effected by this stuff. Obviously there were also gangs, and nice cars and clothes everywhere also. When i got older, i was disgusted watching old clips of G. Bush giving that speech at the White House with about a kilo of crack in his hand, knowing by then he was intimately involved in flooding the streets of America with that poison. It was, in a word: unbelievable. 😎🇺🇸 Edit: this is an awesome documentary!!

Back in the early 1970s, I lived in St. Louis, MO. Being at a strategic locale for drug movement, that city was at the epicenter of drug-related violence.. I witnessed cops dragging the dead bodies of pushers out of the Mississippi River. "Superfly" and Gordon's War" were showing at inner-city movie theaters. Art was imitating life.

Al was real good on this video. Even though there's the occasional repeating of a line (verbatim and not more than a minute from the first time saying it) what good Al Profit dope documentary doesn't . I enjoy these longer running videos a lot more than the short stuff I have seen lately from him. Hope Al Profit keeps going and turns out some more hour plus long joints that he can really get into.
