Comparing the New Black Magic Camera App on the iPhone 13 Pro. Using the Default Camera with Dolby Vision and Apple ProRes. #blackmagic #camera #app #dolbyvision #prores #bmpcc4k #iPhone #testresults #test
Thank you, yeah I felt it was a good comparison between the different apps and settings. Also I wanted to see if it could be used as B roll in a pinch with BMPCC4k.
Yes the BMA is (Black Magic App) I’ve been comparing it to filmic pro and default camera app and the BMA looks way better so far. Thanks for your comment and view.
Thanks for a very interesting and well presented comparison. To my eyes the BMA seems to have a noticeable magenta bias but with richer colours. I was particularly struck by the difference in colour rendition between the BM pocket 4k and the app. I was a long time use of Filmic Pro but have switched to Cinema P3 over the last 12 months. I find that Cinema P3 is very well featured app but a not the easiest to use. The new BMA looks to have huge potential once it is more developed.
Yeah, I’m sure they will clean it up some more. Post can fix that Magenta since it’s ProRes. BMPCC4k and the app kinda work somewhat together. I’m sure BM will work on it. The iPhone 15 pro should bring in a new era of film makers. I’ll have to check out Cinema p3. Filmic Pro is removing my $30 of purchase to try and make me a subscriber. No thx. Done with them. So sad. Good talks.
Impressive results for BMA. At least where there's no highlights and shadows such as the window shot. Wish you had test H265 as well, since it's 10bit, maybe ProRes is not worth the extra storage.
Thanks for feedback. The H.265 look pretty close to the ProRes. The H.265 just had less info to work with in Post. My comparison was out of camera comparison. I will post another video going between all the codec that are available to show if there is any difference. iPhone 15 pro might make this app shine with some of its extra features.
Everything is straight out of camera. I did use ND when outside comparing the bmpcc4k and the iPhone. It’s a free app, I would download it and watch other people that go over that in Resolve.
