I am adapting EF lenses to the Lumix S5 IIx and they basically perform as good as a native L lens with continuous autofocus. I don't see anything wrong with the L mount only advantages.
Thanks, that is what i was planning to do, good to hear it works like i imagined! Cant wait to get an S5 II and use it with my Sigma 18-35 as a companion to my BMPCC 4K!
I think black magic is going to come out with a fully new design for their “pocket” line of cameras and rerelease it in the coming years. Definitely expecting something small like the original pocket cinema camera.
@@lanemccall6787 I’d be willing to pay slightly more for a decent body. These are just played out, and almost all the blackmagic users I know (including myself) have begun to move away because of the bodies. If I’m gonna do a dslr body, I’m gonna at least go Sony and have way better features in that body.
Completely agree. As soon as you start rigging the Pocket cameras, the awkward shape becomes apparent. Especially the 6K Pro which the new one is based on. When you add a vmount the screen on the backside is a problem. I have my P4K fully rigged out with an external monitor, but anytime I need to access the menus I have to move the vmount out of the way. Small thing at first but on a full shooting day, stuff like this adds up. The missing internal NDs ist the biggest let down though. In an interview one of the BMD staff basically admitted that they could not fit them in the new cam because of the new L-Mount while sticking to the old form factor. And their reasoning was that they want the users to keep using their accessories. But the the guy said they had to move the upper mounting point to a new location so some of the cages out there won't be fitting anymore anyways. This really feels like a stop gap release to test the waters on the new sensor and the L-Mount popularity before committing to a full blown cinema camera redesign, if that ever comes. The fact that the BMD chief in their presentation started by instinctively holding the new cinema camera vertically was very telling. They talked less then 10 minutes about this camera, the next ten minutes they talked about their iphone app and another ten minutes about camera 2 cloud. This is not what you would expect from the reveal of a new full frame cinema camera from blackmagic at all.
Always enjoying your videos, man. Yup, many things happened these days. Not crazy about the new Blackmagic camera, but as always, the prices are unbeatable with BMD. Cheers
I'm surprised you didn't mention that the new Micro Studio Camera 4k G2 is actually a merger of the Micro Studio Camera and the Micro Cinema Camera, as it is a box camera, uses the pocket 4k's sensor, shoot's BRAW via USB, has Film Log, and is only $995.
When I read up on the Burano, it made me think of the Alexa and Alexa Mini relationship. Now Sony has a smaller version of the Venice. But BM just needs to ditch these awful designs. It was cool in 2019, but things have changed in 2023.
I'd like to see a larger Micro Camera, 6k, FF, L Mount and CFexpress memory. In a box form. I mean, the Micro camera is already a box camera. Just make it bigger with better cooling and ports.
6:18 I find the app interesting; however, I don’t see a way to give a name to different clips, Log mode or being able to record to external SSD (with the new iphone 15 pro max)
Not a fan of the L mount Lol. I know that it’s probably a comment for the exact reason of getting a comment like this but that’s just goofy to say. It’s technically a better future proof mount than FE, RF.. maybe not better than the Z but yea. It’s just another new mount and there’s plenty of adapters for it
Hey Brandon, I'm also reluctant to switch over to L mount. I've got the 6k Pro, a couple of old c100 mkii and all my lenses are EF. I also like internal NDs, which are missing on this camera.
As a Pocket 6K user for years...I wish it had internal ND's. Ultimately...it's unfortunate in my opinion that Blackmagic doesn't redesign the body, add global shutter, and internal ND's. AND offer that at their consistently competitive price-point...I believe it would crush the market!
Apple is the most confused brand. If they like cinema, they should just go ahead and make a cinema camera. What is putting such aspects inside an ordinary phone, imagine someone pullup to come do a huge $6.000 budget commercial with an iphone. Its crazy.
