Black Man Fined in Court for Cooking BBQ!!! 

@Jamie Ely. I would imagine many feel that way. Unfortunately, judges don’t pass the laws themselves. (They May vote on them) They’re only required to withhold the law of the land. This ridiculous law was likely written by the neighborhood HOA.

You're right, judges should start throwing out these type of "Karen" cases by HOAs and City/County Commissions that create these ridiculously arbitrary codes. Maybe then they would get the message that the Constitution and individual liberty rules in America and doesn't stop at the county line or city limits.

And when the judge said Next Case, they would have put a case of Yingling on the bench!

It sounds good but people would just be fined. What they should do is vote that law down at their next neighborhood HOA meeting. It should be pretty easy to do with enough people.

That just creates a shit storm of vindictive justification who can get who next. What he should do is petition will all his neighbors, get a lawyer and make the county change the ordinance. I would seriously want to know if this was voted on by what individuals and what were the grounds. It’s hard for me to believe that you have county residence went and voted to not allowing bbq or grilling if the smell travels outside your property line. They leave dead animals on the ride for days and I gotta smell them all the time, that a defensive odor they should have to pay a fine

@@joez6798 There has always been a double standard. The situation here is.: there is a Military Reservation that takes up a big chunk of the county here. They are exempt from purchasing a permit to burn but the same County requires a home owner to obtain a permit before burning a pile of leaves in their own yard. The Military base burns an excess of a thousand acres for each "control burn"! Tell me who impacts air quality here. Government....what do we do? VOTE CORRECTLY!

Never heard of such a thing before. I'm guessing it's applied to folks of color in neighborhoods where they aren't welcome. It was neighbor complaints that got the Ahole code enforcer out there.

New laws, they are being enforced in parts of Australia too. People complaining about food smells, car smells, toys in the yard etc etc etc. We used to have a great society and social gatherings. Bbq's , parties, music etc...and then, time restrictions on noise, including weekends at any time of day. Basically, if your neighbours can hear, see or smell you, then it's illegal. How do we fight back? Easy Street parties where everyone is invited When the cops show up, mid afternoon, and ask where everyone lives, we all point at our houses. We also make it clear, the complaining people were and are, invited to come for food and drink and be involved. That's when we are told what time the noise etc violations kick in, usually around 8pm Until then, party on dude. This fine for cooking food is absolutely outrageous. I'm surprised the judge didn't say "come to my house while I'm cooking and threaten me with violations, I'd hose you down too' Maybe when it happens to him he'll understand.

Code enforcement doesn't need a warrant. They do need one for areas you cant get to like backyards. But everything else falls under an open Administrative warrant.

Those who run homeowners associations are bullies and probably were bullied growing up. You couldn't pay me enough to move to where one is.
