Love it Simon. Great to hear again, I'm a Aussie, Get a dog up ya!" I smiled when I heard this again. I think you need to include this line each week in your video. Fuck Yes 👍🤘🇭🇲
Great video Simon! Love that In Battle album -- one of my favorites. I never thought of the Abigor connection before, but I can see it now that you mention it. I think Nachthymnen and OpusIV were released in '95 & '96, respectively (two of my other absolute favorites). So it's entirely possible that In Battle could have taken some influence. The Setherial influence is certainly obvious! In fact, I believe there were members shared between both bands, if I'm not mistaken. Great Job as always!
Great video. You have black metal albums from bands very unknown for me. In this point I think " well, there are many more black metal by listening". Greetings from Mexico.
31:40 You actually nailed the pronunciation on the second attempt :) “i skuggornas mörker” = ”in the darkness of/from the shadows” or word for word “in the shadows darkness” All the best! // new Swedish subscriber
Great update! Quite a few I wasn't familiar with. Negative Plane is a band I have heard mentioned a number of times but never checked out. I'll give them a listen
I dig Thornspawn. They were always kind of goofy, but their albums are savage and hit the spot when you want to have your flesh seared off your bones. Waiting on my Negative Plane lp. Endlessly delayed, of course. Good stuff!
Great video as usual! Thank you for the few discoveries. ILDSKAER reminded me AGANTYR as well, it is a good record but lacking in originality to stand out in my opinion NEITIAN also reminds me of ILDJARN for the hypnotic aspect, will check it out for sure! Let's mention that FAUSTIAN PACT and CHAMBER OF UNLIGHT were released on Werewolf Records (Sure, it is an oversight ;) ) If you don't already know them, a few albums to check out: ARMAGGEDON - Trumpets Of Christian Holocaust: French can also do True old school Black Metal, this band never disappoints SHORES OF LADON - Witterung + Heimkehr EP: another flawless performance from this intense and melancholy German Black Metal band FELLWINTER - Night of the Blood: High quality JUDAS ISCARIOT worship, with the same members as GAUNTLET RING
Thanks for the recommendations! Good callout on the Ildjarn part of Neitian. I'll check out the stuff you recommended, especially Fellwinter - Gauntlet Ring is high on my wants list so members of that can only bring goodness.
That’s a stacked update. The BAN and Negative Plane albums are definitely two of the best albums this year. So good to see them return after so long. I was starting to think they were no longer active. I felt The Pact… was easier to get into than the first 2. Hopefully this gets them more attention, as they fully deserve it. I remember the Goatlord album got a good bit of coverage in magazine ads back when it came out. It got a good reception in the underground, it definitely stood out that’s for sure.
That In Battle is great ! Love Blut Aus Nord, always changing - got them nearly all on vinyl - just missing two which i have on cd. I have a Dark funeral box set on cd, inc all their stuff apart from the latest one, which i have on vinyl - also got Secrets and Where shadows on vinyl too.
That Negative Plane album is sweet! Definitely a contender for my personal black metal AOTY. I downloaded the 2-track demo of Doldrum from last year from Bandcamp. The album is great, but it has to grow on me still.
@@ExplosiveAction It sure is! And have you heard the new KVAD debut album? Those guys are from Norway and they (to no surprise) know how to RIFF! Definitely like a mix of Blaze era Darkthrone and DSBM vocals. CHECK IT OUT.
I have a funny introduction to In Battle in that I first heard them through their latest (last?) album, Kingdom of Fear. I really loved it and never understood why it got so much hate. It's just so savage and relentless the whole way through. But then I heard their first two albums and was blown away and how fast and intense they were. I picked up those vinyl presses earlier this year and they are very high quality and done with a lot of love and care. Worth picking up!
In Battle....one of my favourite albums of all time...I'm not into anything they did after that album, but I've always had a huge connection to the selftitled
that Ildskær album is killer. they are also getting pretty big in the underground over here in Denmark. the danish black metal scene the last 10 years has grown. from only a few bands in the 90s and early 2000s(some of my favorite bands from the 90s is ,solhverv ,nyredolk ,sortsind ,blazing etrinity). but there are many band now specially since 2012 where solbrud debut was released. now we have new bands like. orm. wulfaz and afsky and nyredolk
I’ve been hunting for that Ancestral Shadows EP as I have the other 3 releases. Can’t seem to find a copy here in the US. Super annoying! Another banger update sir. Cheers
Cool update Simon I've tried to get into those black metal bands but I just can't for some reason but I'll try to check out more though maybe there are some in there that I like🆒👍😈
Thanks mate! Black metal is pretty varied, if you like stuff thrashier maybe check out the Sphinx album I recommended! Or the Doldrum for something more chunky yet progressive.
Fantastic video hi my friend you should check out a band called ALDAARON THEY ARE FROM FRANCE THEY PLAY PAGAN BLACK METAL THE 2 ALBUMS ARE CALLED NOUS REVIENDRONS IMMORTELS AND THERE SECOND ALBUM IS CALLED SUPREME SILENCE
