Painting of a Tiger under a Pine Tree by Danwon Kim Hong-do
“Black Mood, the Climax” is a song inspired by Painting of a Tiger under a Pine Tree by Kim Hong-do, one of the most celebrated painters of the Joseon dynasty. The lone tiger gazing ferociously at the viewer fills the entire painting, which effectively depicts the dignity of “the king of one hundred beasts”.
“Black Mood, the Climax,” created by the creative Gugak group GRIM, aims to express the idea of humble, worldly humans faced with a tiger that creates an impression of magnificent dignity and surrealistic vitality. the song reflects the values of the humanities embodied in the painting, expresses the image of a tiger and humans existing in parallel, and conveys a sense of liveliness through the song created by rhythms and a gravity-defying ambiance.
