Agreed, but I wouldn't expect as much clutter in the souls-like genre, which this game clearly falls into. While I agree that some games, in general, are too cluttered, we shouldn't be comparing a souls-like release to all games. This gets more complicated with the release of superb games like Elden Ring, which pushed the souls genre into the open world. I only say this because Black Myth doesn't appear to be open world. Open corridor, yes, similar to older Souls games, or games like Nioh - combat-focused corridor progression. I have super high hopes for this one and really hope it delivers. From the limited footage we've all seen it seems a bit vacant of "foot soldier" enemies and seems to be more "boss rush" like, running through locations until you get to a mini boss or full fledged boss. Time will tell and I really hope this one becomes a gem for all of us.

Do we really need to say it? It's going to be a good game, but some people, ultimately, will trash it because it feels too "light" and doesn't have the WEIGHT of Souls-Borne-Ring games. On the other hand, those who love Sekiro will absolutely love it. Even from just this video, you can see that there's a sort of "disconnect" between the character and the world, and their impact. The way they went around it, by having slow motion moments, was very clever... but it doesn't completely get rid of that odd feeling, for the gamer, that everything they're doing with every strike is rather "weightless" and disconnected. But again, I think this was the right decision to make. Part of what some people love about Sekiro is that velocity, even if it still "feels" heavy at times, depending on fighting style (this is what Wukong needs to accomplish as well - be light, but feel heavy when necessary). Otherwise, it will be a solid 7.5/10. EDIT: To be clear, the reason for the "lightness" is that this game is partially influenced by artistic representation of wushu in wuxia films. So it makes total sense. But in those films, especially the really good ones, the story provides the weight we need in order to accept the fact that the actors are just performing "ballet". This game must do the same.

Good idea, Ive checked the subtitle of the story at 6:40, to be honest, the dialogue is very vivid, but the subtitles are suck! Its lucky of me that I know the Chinese.

Haha, im not very good at English,but acorrding to my experience, English is more direct and more easily understood. It may has a advantage for the natrue reasearch. But Chinese characters contain more information and more hidden meaning which make poeple think more under the words. @@itachi7976

@@zenfay2523 yes. He can even transform defensively into that rock creature to absorb physical attacks and some elemental attacks.

The defending aspect is my biggest gripe with the other souls games. It almost seems like the other games penalize your character to make the game hard instead of letting the player get as good as possible. As you said, leaving it completely up to skill.

Yes! This. I'm hoping this is only a small slice preview with a purposeful focus on bosses and mini bosses but I share you concerns. Running through vacant vistas (however pretty) gets old fast - hopefully this footage is simply showing pre-cleared levels or something like that :)

A lot of the bosses delve into the Journey to the west. Some of these bosses were stories my grandma told me when i was younger.

06:38It proves that this game has a attractive story because the cutscene depicts and hides the relationships between characters in Chinese mythology, rather than just focusing on the journey of Tang Sanzang's party those normal work. If you can’t understand the cutscene, then you can’t say The game lacks a story (although the demo is shit translated) because understanding the story requires a lot of Chinese cultural support. This is not the game's problem but yours.

The particle effects can and probably have been made with other software such as Maya or Houdini, Niagara system isn't that good

ok that was sick ngl. im so used to soulslike trailers looking awesome, but when the game comes out it's... just alright. ik they're lower budget than a from game but i think the number 1 thing they get wrong is the exploration and worldbuilding.... combat and epic bosses are only half of what makes dark souls great.
