Lets Be Clear the Star Spangled Banner was not officially adopted as the National Anthem Until 1931. The Black National Anthem “Lift Every Voice and Sing” became The NAACP anthem in 1900. The Star Spangled Banner was written 1814 but the 3rd verse was still used referencing Slaves. Until the 3rd verse was rewritten the USA 🇺🇸 could not approve it as our National Anthem. Next year have Taylor Swift sing the Black National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Charlemagne gave one weak-ass and convoluted argument about why our nation should have two separate National Anthems. There are so many ways his argument falls apart that it’s needless to address them. Basically Charlemagne is promoting segregation and division. We fought a Civil War to have ONE National Anthem and his divisive hee haw is promoting segregation. We can have a Black Anthem, or any other skin color anthem, hell we even have a Party Rock Anthem. However, a National can have only ONE National Anthem; the last time we had two was during the Civil War.

Call it "woke" but back in 1998 in elementary school we used to pledge our allegiance to the flag, sing the national anthem and the African American national anthem every monday morning. 🤷🏽‍♀️

This is a very weird take. I'm from Texas and I grew up in a hella black City where we learn about this national anthem black history and all that comes with it. I have a few questions why when he was talking about freedom for all when they were coming up with the black national anthem that he then referred to talk about it was for black people? Wouldn't that then be for black people which would then separate that from the all ? Second of all, are we for segregation again? I really want to know this one because essentially if black people have their own thing then what you're doing is separating from the pack which means that we're segregating(to seperate) from every other American? Then let's revisit this topic. I had this conversation with a white co-worker and he swears he has never known that was part of the national anthem. This anthem was written by a slave owner during the War of 1812 (against the British). The only reason it became customary to sing only the first verse was when we became allies with Great Britain during WW1. Our leaders felt the anthem was too militaristic and may offend the British. I can't believe YOU people are still trying to gaslight Black folks with this BS about us being unpatriotic when we won't stand for this anthem after all the sordid history of race relations in this country. SING THE ENTIRE SONG!!
