Jags are bigger, and in their world they don't have natural enemies. The panthers, do , the lions

I identify the differences between them based on the Jaguar having a stockier build.

First there are no black panthers ! Only black leopards n jags n the difference between them besides a stocky build are the leopards have longer tails for balance when climbing n their rosettes are smaller with no small spot inside them. N leopards are more built for climbing n have rotating rear ankles for grip when coming down trees

Actually, the term "black panther" applies only to melanistic forms of the Leopard (Panthera pardus), the melanistic forms of the Jaguar (Jaguarius onca) are just called jaguars, this is because "panther" is exclusively another name for the leopard.

@uMonstr0, actually, the leopard is the only true panther, which is why the term "black panther" applies only to melanistic leopards, while melanistic jaguars are just called jaguars, also, you are still incorrect, the Panthera genus is now rendered as paraphyletic, it is now officially redefined as an exclusively Old World genus with an exclusively African origin and only five valid species, because the Panthera genus exclusively originated in Africa, the most basal of the Panthera genus is the †Royal Cat (Panthera principialis), followed by the †African Jaguar (Panthera shawi), and then followed by the Leopard (Panthera pardus), with the most recent split being between the †European Jaguar (Panthera gombaszoegensis) and the Lion (Panthera leo), Panthera is the most basal extant genus of the subtribe Pantherina (Greater Big Cats), the second most basal is the genus Uncia, which contains four recognized species, the most basal being the †Cave Lion (Uncia spelaea), followed by the Tiger (Uncia tigris), with the most recent split being between the †Tibetan Jaguar (Uncia blytheae) and the Snow Leopard/Ounce (Uncia uncia), the third most basal genus is †Sinailurus, which contains three recognized species, the most basal being the †East Asian Lion (Sinailurus youngi), followed by the split between the †Longdan Tiger (Sinailurus zdanskyi) and the †Chinese Jaguar (Sinailurus palaeosinensis), the two most derived genera of the subtribe are Neofelis (Clouded Leopards/Bohebaos) and Jaguarius (New World Roaring Cats), the former contains two recognized species: the Northern Clouded Leopard/Northern Bohebao (Neofelis nebulosa) and the Southern Clouded Leopard/Southern Boheboa (Neofelis diardi), whereas the latter contains three recognized species, the most basal being the †American Lion (Jaguarius atrox), followed by the split between the †Yucatan Leopard (Jaguarius balamoides) and the Jaguar (Jaguarius onca), based on this phylogeny, the †Cave Lion (Uncia spelaea), Tiger (Uncia tigris), †Tibetan Jaguar (Uncia blytheae), Snow Leopard/Ounce (Uncia uncia), †East Asian Lion (Sinailurus youngi), †Longdan Tiger (Sinailurus zdanskyi), †Chinese Jaguar (Sinailurus palaeosinensis), †American Lion (Jaguarius atrox), †Yucatan Leopard (Jaguarius balamoides), and Jaguar (Jaguarius onca) are all more closely related to clouded leopards/bohebaos (genus Neofelis) than any of them are to either the †Royal Cat (Panthera principialis), †African Jaguar (Panthera shawi), Leopard (Panthera pardus), †European Jaguar (Panthera gombaszoegensis), or Lion (Panthera leo), just like the Tibetan Fox (Neocyon ferrilatus), Corsac Fox (Alopex corsac), Arctic Fox (Alopex lagopus), Swift Fox (Alopex velox), Kit Fox (Alopex macrotis), Bengal Fox (Fennecus bengalensis), Blanford's Fox (Fennecus canus), Ruppell's Fox (Fennecus rueppellii), Fennec Fox (Fennecus zerda), Pale Fox (Fennecus pallidus), and Cape Fox (Fennecus chama) are all more closely related to both the Bat-Eared Fox (Otocyon megalotis) and the Raccoon Dogs (genus Nyctereutes) than any of them are to the Red Foxes (genus Vulpes) and Asiatic Elephants (genus Elephas) are more closely related to †Mammoths (genus Mammuthus) than they are to African Elephants (genus Loxodonta), this classification officially redefines the greater big cat genera on geographical grounds, meaning the genera are now rebased on geography and geography alone, the european jaguar is not a jaguar, it is more closely related to the lion than it is to the jaguar, while the american lion and cave lion are not lions, the american lion is more closely related to the jaguar and the cave lion is more closely related to both the tiger and the snow leopard, the similarities between the lion, cave lion, and american lion are due to convergent evolution, the same is said for the similarities between the jaguar, african jaguar, european jaguar, tibetan jaguar, and chinese jaguar.

@TheMcTwist, what do you mean?
@indyreno2933
@indyreno2933 10 месяцев назад
@uMonstr0, actually, the jaguar originated exclusively from North America, this is because the jaguar now belongs to the genus Jaguarius, which contains all roaring cat species native only to the New World, the genus also contains the extinct american lion and yucatan leopard, this genus is more closely related to the bohebaos (genus Neofelis) than it is to other greater big cats, while the Panthera genus did originate exclusively from Africa, you should know that feliforms actually first appeared in North America, not Africa, the only placental mammal lineage to wholly originate exclusively from Africa is Afrotheria.

"Panther" is a term that can be used to refer to any big cat that has a black coat, including” that’s what I read in this video “leopards and jaguars. Jaguar vs Panther - Jaguar”
