hey - before it's too late for this year, i would suggest you look into importing some manure for your field. you've still got enough time now (if you're beginning planting in mid april) to let it get in there pretty good. if you have a loader on your tractor it can be spread pretty easy. i say this because your soil looks so sandy i'm wondering how much success you have growing anything - giving yourself a nice 4-6" top layer of nice soil will probably double your yield compared to what you have now. and once you spread it, as long as the ground isn't frozen, break out grandpa's old mouldboard plow and flip over the whole field and let it sit - the earlier the better. it isn't going to damage your soil ecology very much, in fact, it will enhance it to such a large degree because you're adding so much more microbiology and organic matter to it. plowing it will bury it and help to mix everything together. it helps also if you had any sort of cover crop over the winter to add to that - even if it is just grass! horse manure tends to work better than cow manure, but it's more difficult to get in such a large quantity. ideally, at this point, since you only have a few months for it to be soil, try to get something that is well rotted and has been sitting for a few years. where i am, i'm friends with people who board a few horses and i could have it delivered for free, i guess they have a hard time getting rid of it - you might have the same situation where you are, and even if they want a small fee, it'll be well worth it. horse manure is a bit hotter in the nitrogen area so it tends to snuff out weeds, too, and the nitrogen can produce some monster plants. my grandmother swore by it in her flower and vegetable gardens, she hardly ever had to weed! and she'd plant 50 pounds of potatoes every year and end up with 2,000 pounds at the end of the year off of, i dunno, 1000 square feet. the stuff really works. don't be afraid of tillage either - we've been doing it for two millenia, and it can be a vital thing to do to help decompose what's out there.
