For anyone who's interested, I made a "BLACK" music video in the style of the old Toonami promos: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kNaGZUaMths.html
my ps2 lags playing half life 1, but yeah, could very well be that it's a very unoptimized game seeing as it is probably one of the first games valve released onto consoles
some people say shadow of the colossus but i say resident evil 4,god of war 2,need for speed, tekken 5 and black really pushed it to the limits and gave us great time playing it,ghosh i missed those days
badass shooter, it feels real, enemies tough and ruthless, the shooting mechanics, enemy movement, graphics, sound, the whole atmosphere is amazing, BLACK is a masterpiece.
Agreed. Gameplay-wise, it's not much to write home about (though it's still fun to play), but on a technical level, they went all-out on this one. That's what I love about the late-PS2-era, when everyone was really pushing the console to its limits, even when the PS3 and 360 were right around the corner.
The graphic is definitely awesome. In other words, Renderware have great graphic and this engine was clearly ahead of it's time. We can say that Renderware could be the best engine ever if they didn't discontinued it. Could be compete with Unreal Engine, Frost Bite, Cry Tech, Source Engine and Cry Engine.
The PS2's hardware had a lot of potential, but it was too complex compared to the Xbox or the GameCube. very few games took advantage of it's potential. This game along with God of War (1 and 2), Metal Gear Solid 3, Gran Turismo 4 and Shadow of the Colossus looked gorgeous.
@@aaadj2744 honestly the Xbox version is the boring standard version, the ode to the future x86-64 unification we have today, which was what Microsoft had planned in the first place. Now, sony can’t even have fun with processing control in game development, other than improving the streamline of disc/storage>APU>Memory>Res Out
I wish to God they would make a sequel to this for the current-gen consoles. Just looking at what they managed to pull off graphically with this game on the PS2/XBox is insane! And I love the style of the cutscenes in between each stage, all the quick cuts and the voice actors. It's like straight-up, nonstop action movie playing this game. Awesome stuff! I replayed the crap out of this game and unlocked everything, too. I remember the last level being pretty difficult until you figure out the right strategy, which I don't recall at the moment. But fuck, this might very well be my favorite shooter ever, and I have played Doom, Half-Life, Halo, CoD, Red Faction, Cold Winter, Killzone series, Wolfenstein series, Far Cry series and some other big-time FPS series, but still, I think BLACK is king for me! And I say this even though I'm not really that big on FPS's overall, compared to some people, because I don't play them a majority of the time. (I like racing sims, puzzle games, dungeon-crawling, action RPGs and JRPG style games now and then)
***** Yeah, I've heard of it and seen footage. It is disappointing. Do you guys know if it was the same development team who did BLACK that did Bodycount? I can't remember at the moment. I'd hate to think the same team who did BLACK would make an all-around flop like Bodycount. The original developer should do a true sequel to BLACK, not just a spiritual successor. Heck, even just an HD remaster with trophies would be nice. Rockstar's done this with a bunch of their games lately. I don't see why the same can't be done for BLACK.
Thanks for this. Actually playing through this game for the first time after all these years and it's bloody confusing what you're supposed to do next. I was right at the end of the level and couldn't see that I'm meant to walk into the building to finish.
In my opinion the BEST PS2 game! I played the crap out of this game, I hated it for not having multiplayer. They never done a sequel, I really wonder why. When I played this game for the first time I was like WTH! All that destruction etc.
Yamaha Rider J I've lost many nights of sleep to this game back in the day, but each was worth it. almost like tunnel vision, you get hooked and everything else did not matter while I was playing.
The last few checkpoint of this mission had WW1 vibes into it where we go through trench to trench warfare at a destroyed city building here & there. Crazy to think this takes place in War On Terror in the 90s. It feels like another world war that set in Russia but fictionally between the Black Ops and the 7th Wave Terrorism unit and the destruction town is massive in this one.
"BLACK", hands down the very best "FPS Graphics & Gameplay" for either the XBOX or the PS2 Console Systems. Its Graphics easily rival those of the next Generation Systems. Hats off to Criterion for pulling off nothing short of a miracle with their production of this classic. I bought my copy at Gamestop for just $10 bucks used and would have gladly paid 3Xs that for this masterpiece of a game. Thumbs up if you agree...
Along with "Killzone" (the first one), this was one of the best FPS games for the PS2. There was plenty of action. I don't know if they made a part two.
this game is good ashell.nostalgia is real.i spent alot playing this on PS2 i really miss the days that you may suffer for not having any medkits in FPS than regenerating.
This was the first game that I bought with the PS2. When the music starts playing, you know you are getting far into the mission. I hated those shotgun guys!
wow played this game back in 2008 and now i am very sad that i sold my Ps2 i finished this game atleast 10-12 times especially on easy-normal and hard mode i remember when i finished the game on normal you unlock all weapons silver and you get unlimited amunition on all weapons such a good game wish they make remastered of this game for all consoles ps4-xbox and pc this game would go on top of the best games ever remastered
I know, right? It's always fun to look back at older console generations and see just how hard developers were trying to push them to their limits (or creatively cut corners to imitate certain effects). 😊
2:14 Hoooo boi. Pretty much the only FPS that made you feel absolute terror at the fact that there was a sniper that could take you off anytime and he could see every single one of your moves but you just didn't knew where he was.
FuMe Kutski You can using an emulator on PC, though it's a pain in the ass to set up. But you can try looking on Coolrom.com, they should have a PS2 emulator. But to set it up you'll have to find a tutorial on RU-vid. Hope that helps. Good luck man. :)
These graphics look great. I so want to get it on my PS2. Me and my Dad want a game that can play split screen multiplayer with badass graphics. Unfortunately, this game doesn't support offline multiplayer. I guess I coild get Killzone.
+BuggBugg OrbitzOrbitz if i may recommend a few titles...maybe you already have but, the Time Splitters series is really very good! And, also Cold Winter. Both have multiplayer, run well and lots of fun!
have always loved this game,i do have a question, for some reason sometimes my character will start sliding to the right very slightly, like ill be walking and ill stop and let go off the control and it will start moving to the right, just a little bit,its not the controller that's stuck, controller works great , it only happens in this game. weird
Ah, I see. The game's just simply THAT sensitive. It might seem like your analog stick's perfectly still, but it's ever-so-slightly off. Happens to me all the time, even when I use a different controller.
