This was the best PlayStation 2 First-Person Shooter ever. It had it all, graphics, gameplay, story, sound, animations and a very professional orchestra (Hollywood Symphony Orchestra I think). The music really put the cherry on top for this masterpiece, emphasizing every important firefight or when you're progressing, it really was executed so well. I still have, and play this every now and then. Criterion really knew what they were doing at this point in time. I love this game so much, I will always keep it.
When I figured out that you could blow EVERYTHING up at the very end room for multiple kills I rocked this level. Also helped to hang out on the steps to use as a shield. I still have the issue of Playstation Magazine featuring this game. They called it 'the last great PS2 game'.
Kevin Lazaro i remember many years ago, 2007 mabye, when i tried for my first time the last mission of black,in "normal", it was my first FPS,so i wasn't very good, and i died about 10-11 times, than in the same day i completed the mission, god damit, it was so good, good time,o my god, good time! The remembers!! :')
Alex68dash if u encounter with assault shields with magnum just throw grenades on them and shoot the grenade or just use a shotgun and kill them or use a rifle and spam shoot it
This game was way ahead of it's time. It's as beautiful as some recent games, considering it's 14 years old. I completed it a few days after it was released.
I think what makes it work so well is just how simple it is. Kinda has a bit of that old-school GoldenEye/TimeSplitters feel in a contemporary setting. Make it to the end of the level, kill everything that moves, and blow up everything that doesn't move. It's a lovingly-produced shooting gallery.
@@Del-Canada I know I've been down *that* route before. There's maybe five or six games I've bought a second time because I once sold them, thinking I was "done" or "bored" with them, only to later realize "wait a minute, I LOVE this game." At this point, the only games I sell/give away are ones I actively dislike.
@@chaffXgrenade I grew up in the seventies and eighties gaming. My biggest regret was selling my Colecovision console and with it 32 cartridges, sold my Telstar gaming console I bought in 78. Took 8 DD batteries and would only work on b&w TV sets. Man I regret selling those even now.
@@chaffXgrenade BTW, thanks for the interactions. That is important for me and I have subbed to your channel. Don't sub to mine tho. It's a dead zone pretty much. Removed most of my content when RU-vid "fixed" the algorithms. Used to get a pile of traffic, now, nothing.
Only issue I had with this game. Is that it triggered my ptsd. This isn’t a knock on the game. Because it was my choice to play it. But more so a compliment. Because of how realistic it is. From the sounds of the guns to the environment. It was perfect and has helped me get a better grip on my ptsd.
No kidding. The PS2 had an amazing life cycle. That whole era was such a huge jump from the PS2/N64 days. Nowadays, it seems like consoles have more-or-less plateaued in terms of overall graphical fidelity and they're focusing on minute details.
I’m a huge fan of multiplayer.. this is a 1 player game and to this very date I’d choose this single player over any modern COD online exp.. this game was way ahead of its time
Wow! I was watching this video and it gave me back really good memories :') just heard the soundtrack starting the mission and my mind was full of nostalgia. Thanks for upload this! :)
watch officer Yes that is good too from what i have seen in youtube gameplays but BLACK was made for ps2 and it made my 11 years old self feel such a badass... I remember not having memory card for my ps2 (still don't even though i haven't touched it for years) and despite that playing this game with my friends every day from the beginning to reach the finak map and end it.It is was so well made that we weren't bored to do it again and again.
Tip: Once you get down into the bunker and the first large room with all of the guys with the shields there is a room off to the right with lockers. It's the room across from the grenades and magnum rounds. There is 2 health packs, one on the ground and one on top of the last locker. Then there's also the G35 weapon and I think more grenades.
This game was awesome. This was using the engine that powered the Burnout games from Criterion before EA bought them. Really impressive visuals at the time and still looks good today. Question: Are you playing this on actual hardware or emulation? The image quality is very crisp.
Still waiting Remastered 13 Years ago. Love you BLACK I play this game with my father everyday. When I was 7 years old, I was now 18 years old. I played so I can remember all the gestures in the game.
I'd say this game still has some of the best environmental destruction in any shooter. Sometimes I play the Naszran Foundry level JUST to shoot the panes on windows and glass ceilings. Why? Because I CAN. :D
20:30 Features Kreskov the most inteligent Meatbag/soldier who realized that he was fighting the modern day personfiication of fucking Leonadas or zues or some shit and he decided he wanted to live.......so he ran around figuring out a way to survive while his friend was gettting vioucsly acctioned movied to death and he realized he could fake his death by running into something and "dying" Spectecularly running into a pole? he is the only one who lived......through this......and happy ever after.
+Tony Dameron favorite as in of all of the weapons in this game? I like the AR15 the best then the AK47 then the MP5. The problem with the MP5 is its accuracy. it kinda sucks nothing like the mac 10 though. lol.
+30spooln I would think the M249 would have better stopping power then it does in this game. I would've loved to have a M1919 or another 30 caliber machine gun in this game. Maybe even a full auto Saga shotgun. Now that would be bad ass with a 100 round drum in this game. lol.
They were supposed to release a sequel back in 06 or 07 but the development team had disagreements about the games direction so people quit and the game got shelfed. I believe that was around the time EA was purchasing the company that made the game Black. At the end of the Black the storyline left a sequel open to possibilities but never happened. Sucks because a good second storyline with game improvements would've probably been a killer game.
Finishing this level on Black Ops difficulty was just so damn relieving - the amount of enemies thrown at you at the end almost felt as though the game was meant to be unfinishable. I also felt the game had such an underwhelming ending. My main complaint was the perfectionism demanded to finish the game as you progressed through the difficulty levels (right down to blowing up every last barrel to pass the game on Black Ops).
The Remington 870’s sound design and animation is so vehement, especially how the shells fly from the chamber. I love how the guns look so enigmatic and angsty. It’s odd to describe, but something about Black is Zombies-esque without the zombies, it’s dark. Nothing like I’ve seen before and for 2006 it’s crazy
fun fact, one of the two composers who scored this game is MICHAEL GIACCHINO, the composer who composed for UP, the incredibles, spiderman homecoming. He won an oscar for UP, and he began writing songs for video games.
That always bothered me. Excellent game, outstanding in every way, music, vibes, challenge, except... they had super sized magazines for all the automatic weapons. MP5 80 rounds, shotgun 7.
I miss playing this game so much. Hands down one of the best FPS out there even to this day, in my opinion. The arcade style run and gun, lots of the explosions just made this game so enjoyable. The sounds, the story, the graphics (even for a PS2)... just wonderful! I really hope they do a re-release for the PS4, or some type download or something.
I finished this on hard back in 2006 and I just finished it on hard today. I’m so glad it came out on the Xbox One. Definitely the best FPS ever. Now I’m going to finish it on black ops. It’ll be raining grenades.
Sorin Tanase Es un juego fantastico! lo unico malo es que muy es corto esperaba mas! me lo acabo de terminar! y me quede con ganas de seguir jugando! XD
One of the best FPS games i ever played. Too bad it never had split screen or multi player. They should have released a squeal, would have been so bad ass.
Great, Great, Great game... Non stop action, destructive environments and many weapons. Wow, the enemies are sponges ... They don't make action shooters like this anymore.. Great game play..
The game's difficulty comes from enemies ambushing you from behind and not knowing there the exactly the rocket launcher enemies are placed and learning to find them fast as they chip away at your health.
Bravo 👏 you play this game as a pro and love how you use the grenades so much with fearlessly going forward, I freaked out every time i played this mission and i tell you guys this a hell of a hard long mission that could make anyone linger for days before reaching the second check point..
He is not really Pro, he just got simple skill with the grenades everybody can shoot granades from the floor even you can do it. just keep focus the targetpoint be concentrate and shoot! that's it. But he isn't really expert, Pro, good shooter professional whatever....that's tour personal opinion. to be a Pro; has to play HARD MODE
This is the best FPS I've played to this very date!also my very first FPS game. Beating it on hard was quite an accomplishment for me. Only other game that matches to the difficulty standard of this game is "Killzone 2". Thanks ***** for uploading this.
I really like this black game, a game that makes me nostalgic for playing it 2 years ago and I played it until midnight because I like to play this game accompanied by my father
He's definitely playing this on easy. I'd finished this game back to back and those guys with the magnum guns and shield don't just stare at you like they do here. They freaking shoot the hell outta you. One of the best games on ps2, period.
this game still gives me fucking chills , it's music and those long guns blazing missions mostly because I never finished the Gulag mission after countless times , I still try it sometimes but no success it's a really difficult game but all time best of ps2 .
Yes. I am playing this today when I leave work :) I have finished the game on easy and a few modes on hard, but now I have to finish the game on hard to unlock Black Ops mode!!! challenges of life loool
Cara eu to a 3 dias tentando passar essa porcaria de fase...na sinceridade não morri em nenhuma fase mas esta fase a ultima parte é muito pakas. Parabéns vc merece meu respeito.
