I’m so glad you did this video. I find it so hard to find Black love books. All of the popular ones are interracial. I enjoy that the books show that Black Women are desirable to all men, but I need some Black love too. An extra Black love rec: Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds (YA time travel romance)
exactly! like we're happy to see black women being loved by all but we NEED that black love representation. & yes! I've heard of this! I definitely need to add that to my TBR. thank you!💛
This is a complaint I had in my Unpopular opinions vid but specifically WOC with white men. Like it’s fine... but it’s everywhere. It needs to be switched up and I think it’s especially hard to see a black male love interest which is really telling. But this vid is great and I’m glad things are getting better
@@lalaloveslit yess! it's literally everywhere. its crazy because there are black romance books but they aren't promoted, so we don't know about them. & yes seeing a black man in these roles is so important.
my only problem with talia hibbert. I love her because she lets black women be loved and cared for even if they may be deemed "difficult", but enough white men.
‘i have crushes on anyone and everyone’ LMAO MEEEEE but also THANK U FOR MAKING THIS i am soooo tired of white love interests ugh i LOVEDDDD the lovebirds omg yes and your hair and corsetttt 😍😍😍 also you’re sooo right, u being into only white guys isn’t an excuse to just write white love interests? like why?? all these books sound sooo good 🧁
Love this look! It's hilarious to me that people think interracial relationships only happen with white and POC, as if any other don't exist or Black love doesn't exist. It's great publishing is realizing these relationships happen finally but we have known and now it feel so oversaturated. For All Time, Finding Joy sounds interesting, and so does Love is a Revolution. Glad you enjoyed Now That I've Found You! The Henna Wars deals with two girls who aren't white either, I know I've mentioned it to you so many times but I really loved it and the author is so sweet and she has another book coming out this year I think that has another f/f romance and they aren't white either. I really love your viewpoints.🧁🧁
@@Shareis I felt disheartened when I found out my local bookstore hid all the black books where no one could find them. They were hidden deep in the store. Behind other books on the lowest and highest parts of the shelves so they wouldn't sell. It's crazy how racist the industry is towards black writers and black novels.
Thanks for this! We are out there black authors that write Black on Black love stories! we are probably more indie and we don't get promoted like the interracial ones
Such a great video! When I read Legendborn this was something that really stood out to me, I really wanted to see more people of color being in love in all kinds of books. As you said, it's not that white love interests are wrong, but they are just everywhere. xD
Yesss I loved The Lovebirds! Everything about that movie was so fresh and interesting to me because it’s a romcom/action film with a black female lead?? And a Pakistani-American lead/love interest just wow 🧁
Girl yes, thank you so much for this list. Do you know how hard it is to find black romance novels me and my best friend are on the hunt for black love books. Thank you so much.
Just discovered you while looking for thriller recs. Loved this video. Agree that Black/White love ONLY from Black authors is irresponsible and unhealthy. We are telling our young Black girls to go find a White guy to solve their problems and something is wrong with Black guys. Shame on those authors for participating in that false narrative. I'm not saying interracial couples are wrong, but there should be a healthy balance.
That is exactly what they are telling Bw tho. It’s literally all over from RU-vid , tick tock & etc . Women are preaching they hope their daughters don’t date black men
Hi 😊 I enjoyed this video. I totally agree that some "black romance" books are with white love interests. I went on one author's website because I was curious and MOST of her books were with white love interests. By the way, I totally have a sweet tooth too! 🧁😋
I loved Kristina Forest’s debut, I need to read the new one! I was just think about this topic recently. I don’t have a problem with IR romance in books on an individual basis but I get annoyed that IR gets more marketing hype. Non-biracial Black heroes are especially nonexistent in traditionally published romance.
yes! exactly! Like we love all different types of love but they don't all get marketed equally. & yess read Now That I've Found You! If you liked Kristina Forest's first book, I think you'll like this one too💜
Kristina Forest has two books more I think you would love. The Neighbor Favor and The Partner Plot -- both SO GOOD and can be read as stand alone, but have to do with sisters from the same family. All the relationships are black men and black women.❤
I love this list! It was soooo needed! Also, I stan Now That I've Found You and Kristina Forest as an author in general lol. She just announced an adult romance and I can't wait! And Joya Goffney has her second book Confessions of an Alleged Good Girl coming out next summer too. I got the chance to talk to both of them about their books and they're both incredible people.
ugh I'm jealous! lol. I can tell they're probably such great people to meet. Kristina Forest is already one of my favorite authors and anything she comes out with is an automatic buy for me. I'm so excited that her adult book will be the start of a series! I can't wait !
Yes so excited for Binding Shadows by Jasmine Silvera! I am have been SEARCHING for another paranormal romance author of color since the ONLY one I’ve been able to find so far is Nalini Singh. Thank you!
1st of all: your hair, yes! The outfit, yes!! You look beautiful 🙌🏾😍 🧁 I love this video and all of these sound so good!!Me going to collect more books: 💃🏿😭
I'm in an interracial relationship myself ( he not white tho) and I'm not getting why there is SO many black women/ white men romance. I've read alot of black romance so they aren't harder to find they just not pushed like bw/wm. I'm saving this because these sound very good.
yeah the fact that we have to find them at all. they should be pushed in marketing like other books smh. but they are out there and I hope people read them and realize how good they are
I love all, but I do feel there needs to be variety. Their Eyes Were Watching God is one that follows a coming of age story capturing love and various experiences. It also has no white love interest.
Forgot to mention - I prefer reading Black heroine/Black hero romances. When I was growing up, inter-racial dating was done, but, not to the extent that it's being done today. I love all people, and I'll read books with White love interests with Black heroines, but BW/BM are my faves!
Lmao the beginning. Yeahhh, then if it is two black love interest it’s traumatic or drama filled like .. black love shouldn’t only be represented like this Chile.
I agree that there are a lot of books with a black female having a white love interest. I believe that this is the case because a lot of Black educated women have a hard time finding a Black educated man. Sure, Black educated men exist, but, they are almost two for one - which gives the men an advantage. I think a lot of black women are dating White men because that's who is showing interest in them. I've also heard that some dark-skinned women have said that Black men never ask them out - White men do. You should read Is Marriage for White People by Ralph Richard Banks - it might give you some insight as to why there are so many books out there with white male love interests.
I'm already aware of all of this. But these are fiction novels. Just like art imitates life, life imitates art. It's important for people to read about black romances.
Corrupt Officer Guide to Love is a all black love novel for you readers who need it it. 😂 but yeah it's becoming cliche the swirl. Also we need just simple sweet blk love without them trying to take over the block and build a drug empire 😔
ahahha the street sounds add to the vibes~~ :p:p YESSSSS i am outta here with the white love interests. like... "oh no i guess we can't have TOO much diversity!" yikes -_-
Lol this video is old but i just found it and the same issues are still relevant. Its sad black women have to dig and dig to find books with romance between two black ppl. U would think more black authors would find that easier to write and that would be more common. Love these recommendations going to check them all out
Yeah it's crazy. None of the black romance books get promoted by publishers. And it does baffle me that so many black authors don't write about black love. That's why I made this series. I have another video on my channel giving more recommendations if you need it 💜
Hello. Just want to give my book a little shine and was wondering if I can hire you to read my book and review it on your page, please? Message me. Thanks
Thank you thank you so so much for this list. I can not over state how important and essential it is to have black romance books. Growing up all I had were Nora Roberts, Nicholas Sparks CRINGE!!! 🧁 🧁 🧁
Awww I’m so happy i was able to help with finding you some black romances. It really is so essential. Yes, growing up we did not have these. I have more videos of many more recommendations. I hope you like💕💕
