When I think of Tommy's accident to his fingers it reminds me of Django Reinhardt's fingers and the impact it made on his music too.The rest is history now. Glenn.
Dont know about who is the father or mother of metal but some outsiders walked on rock industry and changed everything yes Black Sabbath are most influential band in rock music
Correction to Dee Snyder saying the "3rd note" was banned. It's actually the 5th note or more precisely the "flatted" 5th note of which when played against the root note makes that sinister or evil sound. 🤘
Did you hear what Geezer said he said Ozzy wrote the lyrics to the song Black Sabbath for all you people out there who say Ozzy doesn't have any talent.
almost. He was thankful and blown away by Zep 1. Zep were heavier and had more substance and weight than all of them. Yes the same band that also did going to California
they were all inspired by that song... opening riff to Paranoid.

wasnt ozzy, it was all four and the conception of metal as defined by black sabbath is pretty much explained in this video. Ive heard it explained in greater depth before this.. Oh and im really old so.. :-)
Makes no sense back in the 70s you had bands like Styx, Foreigner, Boston and others who were FAR more heavier, faster and louder than Sabbath and those bands are never called metal yet sabbath is lol wtf. I am not even saying those other bands were metal but compared to sabbath they sure are!
Its the things that distort the sound, if you wanna go way back try Johnnie Be Good live, if he could've done it with a guitar he would have, Or the screaming from tutti frutti with little Richard. What they're saying in this particular instance it made metal what it is today.
Metal was the original punk rock, it did everything opposing what was expected. Playing fast rifts, dark names, monotonous yelling, melody is practically given up for emotions, heavy undertones somber meanings and realistic expression is what makes them metal.
